(I'm not the original poster, but own and work with one of these).
There are foot controls on these (I have one). I would surmise they have it programmed to use the foot controls to select menu items. Must've been programmed in Java. The foot buttons also act as bumper sensors while the robot is in free roam mode.
This robot also comes with an AC Adaptor (those sold in the US). This saves battery power since these hog up a LOT of battery power. See my channel for more robot info!
