What a ******* V-O-I-C-E that girl had. I'm totally spellbound over here... And I really don't know who's even coming close to her power, emotion and clarity in this category!!
@STANLIZ4 itz jus a taste thing i shouldn have said 'terrible voicings' . he always play stuff like (from the bottom) c,bflat,e,g to f,a,c,f always with little deviation and de same licks. i jus prefer more gospel vibes. chek out aretha franklyn's piano playing, herbie, stevie . . something more like c,f,g,bflat,d,g (to) a into f,c,d,a,f . thaz jus one simple example out of many. its jus a taste thing really. great to hear Dinah with Courtney
Been looking for this track for years since seeing it on Hootenanny1999! couldnt remember her name, then yesterday heard Courtneys name and it came back! she's fantastic, but where is she now? (thanks for posting)
God Damn! What a voice!!! Puts me in mind of Etta James. Also, if you like that sax player (Courtney Pine) try to find an album of his called "Destiny's Song and the Image of Pursuance". It's out of print and difficult to find, but it's worth it if only for the track "Sacrifice".
@mientememami yo thatz a killing album you mentioned i bought that on cassette when it first came out , recently found it in 2nd hand vinyl store. do you like his first album too?
@mientememami . . . his 1st album was called Journey To the Urge Within. it's a KILLER . its out of print for years . . . but i've seen a few 2nd hand vinyls of it in some of these stores . or might be on amazon? probly only on cassette or vinyl . . . .
My other half heard this tune on the night. (NYE '94) and has raved about ever since. Has tried to buy it an' everything. This is first time he's heard it since then.
I've never heard of her, but she has pure raw talent. I'm a New Yorker and I'm so surprised I never heard of her, yet I heard of Courtney Pine and the late Lynden David Hall.
