  • lol two black guys in the confeds

  • @Evilbunnyinc100 yeah blacks fought with us confederates

  • god i love reenactments

  • Love the clips!

  • @warman505 you really don't. It's all acting. you pretty much just fall whenever you want to.

  • anybody see anything wrong at 2:25 I mean there is a black guy in the confederate? haha

  • @ghosthunter5656 There was actually blacks that fought for the Confederacy, They felt they were fighting for the place they lived just like how most Confederates fought for their homes and never owned slaves.

  • @AUG351

True. Folks often think it was strictly a war of morals- Confeds were evil and hated blacks, Union was wonderful and loved freedom- not necessarily true. As a left-wing activist and progressive individual, I can easily say I historically support the south.

I spent a lot of time in my university studying the conflict- it was a war of a seceding nation, not a war of race. ^^ Slavery played a very small part in it, but history has a way of accentuating points.

  • confederate is better they were fighting against slavery

  • awkward kiss 1:05

  • My ancestors Swooped sides twice.

    First - Confederate

    Second - Union

    Third - Confederate

  • no yankees took any hits...dipical

  • how do you know if youve been shot?

  • @warman505 it hurts and you bleed

  • @warman505 They've told us on our first day, "When you get bored, take a hit" and "Sometimes the officer will say "Start taking hits!" and... well... you take a hit." I am just a fifer, but I still had to hear this whole thing because I guess I could take a hit... even thought I'm behind the whole battle.

  • @warman505 You look at how accurate they shoot and if it's a good volley. Basically a stomach feeling.

  • For Civil War reenactments do they just load in the gunpowder and not the ball

  • @Mokite22 yes, they poor the powder down the barrel without a minni ball

and place the percussion cap on.

  • looks like fun. I got to try it sometime.

  • damn, i cant imagine what the adrenaline rush would be like to be in a reenactment

  • @RandomProductions32 you know why they wanted states rights? So that they could keep the government from getting rid of their slaves, no matter what road you go down as to the cause of the war it all leads back to slavery.

  • is it a bad thing that we southerners march better than them yanks

  • @jparment1 They think it's their second chance at the war, so they're trying their best :-)

  • it wuz frekin hot that day!!!

  • is this real life?

  • @deadlyram2k6 yea but they were firing blanks

  • Its funny not one union soldier died

  • @chucknorriswontdies They always do that

  • 7:54 epic fail

  • lol at the kid with a gun walking at 1:29

  • Who Won the Civil war? The last I heard ,there where a few who refuse to stop fighting... on both sides.I'm just saying. It ain't over till there is no fight left. I know history says the North won but all they did is change stratigies. They still keep the south down through their politics. Thats why the poorest states are in the south and the wealthyer are out west or up north.

  • To few african american slaves acting as human shields are seen in this battle.

  • i was there that was my first one

  • how about stop faking an old war and go fight a real war in present time

americans, the herp derp of planet earth

  • @ayayay111 how DARE you insult our country!

  • @donkylalex i can insult whoever i want buddy. im puerto rican so fuck you and fuck the trashbag you call a country.

  • @ayayay111 then why did you waste your time learning our language? huh? us americans have invented so many things we have today. whats wrong with america? get off your ass and stfu about america!

  • @donkylalex lol i learned english not american u redneck haha

  • @ayayay111 ok fine. i dont wanna hear the dumpster shit of your voice. seriously, gtfo about saying our country is a "herp derp" when clearly, you have never been to America before. fuck off

  • @donkylalex look, just deal with it. america is a huge fucking dump and people like you eat cock. you have no culture and you worship indians and turkey. suck a dick.

  • @ayayay111 wow. WE won WWII. WE invented the computer. seriously, fuck off!

  • @donkylalex russia and germany won WWII, denmark invented the computer so lol

  • @ayayay111 Russia and Germany were on different sides in WWII. Russia was on the Alied forces and Germany was on the Axis forces. The Alied forces won, the Axis forces lost. There were many countries involved in both forces and by the way, America was in the Alied forces. Seriously, you are pretty dumb. Go troll somewhere else.

  • The only part where it kinda died out was 1:24 ...........

  • @marshalvadar or 1:20 if ure following the slide bar thing....

  • How can you have historical reenacting when most if not all the reenactors are too old or in many cases obese? It's getting to the point where people who were turned on to reenacting back when it became a huge fad in the 90s thanks to Ken Burns' Civil War documentary are now too old to be accurate reenactors.

  • @SupernautG The Most ignorant thing I've read this year. Thanks moron. You made me chuckle.

  • @Eatingpattern So your too old and fat to be a reenactor?

  • @SupernautG really? have you done any research at all on the civil war? both the union and confederacy took whatever it got

  • @dalton9931 The average was younger and leaner in that era. Yes, there were all ages but the modern American re-enactors tend to be on the older and fatter side.

  • 7:36 DIRTY YANK!

  • pretty sure that they didnt clap and screemed "yeah" when a cannon is fired

  • i love walchin these kinds of vids and learning about the cicil war

  • how do they decide when someone dies?.....just interested

  • @egbduf Generally someone "dies" when he runs out of blank ammunition. As a reenactor you try to set up your "death" to coincide with running out of ammuniton. You get the most "bang for your buck" that way.

  • The civil war was NOT about slavery. Lincoln declared war to reuinte the union. the only reason people think it was about slavery is because of the emancipation proclamation.

  • get those Nigras

  • that wasnt even that realistic. But it was a sad war

  • Confederate for life!!!! Exept I hate slavery.

  • where do you get the uniforms for the confederates

  • @justinnn97 try ebay or craigslist, and if that dont work go to the muesum.

  • Why there are black soldiers in the Confederate?

  • @NgJackal1990 I'm pretty sure there were a few thousand blacks who fought for the South as mercenaries.

  • @FistofAmerica I hope they got paid LoL

  • @NgJackal1990 Because their Southern and they have heritage for their home.

  • i just recently signed up for a reeanactmant, i got drummer posititon in the union

  • CONFEDERACY!!!

  • what do the rifles shoot do they shoot blanks

  • wait, what does the rifles, and cannon shoot? are they real? sorry for my noobish skills on civil war reenachment...

  • sorry could not resist, 7:46 Oh My God They Killed Kenny!

  • anyone see the black confederates, whos idea was that? ;)

  • @getsomelead ikr at 2:29 theres like three lol FAIL

  • @getsomelead

Actually there were alot of black people that fought on the confederates. Some were forced, some were lied to, and others were actually against the north for what they stood for. They didn't like being slaves, but they didn't want to stir up any trouble. They just wanted things to be normal. So black confederates weren't at all uncommon.

  • i was in in this :D at like five mins exactly im the guy with the flag im on youtube :D

  • Comment removed

  • How are you supposed to watch this reinactment in person without hearing protection? I know muskets are deafening from 100 yards away. I can imagine that a cannon blast would be like hell.

  • No it won't Idiot

  • the south will rise again

  • union ftw

  • I Am related to Patrick R Cleburne

  • I love Civil war History ! William Sanders was an ancestor of mine. He was the founder of Tannehill . He disappeared in 1865 after the war.

  • Haha there's a black guy on the confederate side.

  • Wait, if they don't use real bullets in re-enactments, then how does someone know if they're shot and need to act wounded? o.o

  • @AquiloTheTiger Its called acting, you just kinda do it.

  • u cant blame union soilders just the government

  • @TheStyx44

"the government" in 1861 was pretty divided, Lincoln took all his political opponents and made them his Cabinet members - if you like, Lincoln was to blame for trying to keep the US together - he did state that he wasn't going to have "the last best hope of freedom" be broken up during his term as president, not if he could help it - don't forget, the Confederacy forced the issue by firing on Fort Sumter - the following war got worse than anybody thought it would at the beginning -

  • do you have to be american to join these games? or can you just wisit and play?

  • @TheIcelandicPatriot

Well, you'll need to purchase all of the necessary equipment, or find someone who will (generously) loan you all of it. You'll also need to be instructed in the rules and regulations (marching commands, how to handle a Civil War-era musket according to Army standards, safety rules of reenacting, how to pitch a tent, etc.) If you can handle these prerequisites, then there are plenty of groups that would welcome your participation, whether you are American or Icelandic.

  • @TheIcelandicPatriot they aren't games. reenacting is about doing your best to portray what actually happened, being respectful to the men who fought, and most importantly, not thinking it as a "game." This wasn't a game to the 620,000+ who died.

  • Hey, check out my video of the Sumner attack. The video's on my page.

  • how to u kno wen to die

  • long live the south

  • @skateordiepat Y would u want the south to win?

  • @zuuluu1 I agree.

  • my friend isaac did one of these when he was 6 and my friend oliver did one when he was 8, they still have the hats and sutff XD

  • is this one of them where you can be in it for free? where they give you the costumes and guns and stuff and you do what you want and its just like your in the civil war?

  • I went to a Civil War Reenactment on Sunday in Hemstead, Texas and the thing i noticed was there every one that I saw was white. The only black person i saw was a Black Confederate Soldier!

  • if only the south had won.

  • @jw16e4 It was 150 years ago good God.

  • Go Rebs, send those stinking Yanks back home with a cannon ball up their rears.

  • @sky12066sed3 I live in Alabama, but I would'a sided with the "Yanks". You do realize that this war was over slavery, right...? So, if you wanted us to drive the "Yanks" back home, then you agree with slavery? Sorry, not trying to insult... Dx Or do you say that just because you're rooting for your home team? :3 Every one does (with sports) these days, so I don't blame ya.~

  • @AquiloTheTiger You're right, in the big picture, that war WAS about slavery. But 95% of Confederate troops were not slaveowners and really didn't give a shit about slavery one way or another. As far as they knew, they were fighting the invasion of their homeland...which is what they were told by the rich slaveowners, because if the slaveowners told them they were fighting for the rich owners to keep their slaves, they wouldn't have fought for that. Rich man's war, poor man's fight.

  • @Salguine Where is this 95% from?

  • @Salguine The big picture wasnt about slavery it was about independent rights as a state. Basically the Confederates wanted each state to govern them selves while the union wanted to have all the states under one goverment.

  • @RandomProductions32 if it had really been about states rights, why didnt minnesota, or indiana or ohio secede to protect their "states rights"?? and it can be said that the vast majority of southerners did not own slaves, but the environment of racism south, and the influence of slave owners, was enough for the average southerner to take up arms.

  • @sky12066sed3 the yanks won because of stupid lee

  • @sky12066sed3 keep in mind, we won.

  • @sky12066sed3 of course no one really wins in war. but at least slavery was abolished

  • @sky12066sed3 it's not cool to be racist.

  • usgennet.org/usa/mo/county/stlouis/blackcs .htm

African Americans in the Confederate Army....

  • Comment removed

  • that was retarded why were African Americans fighting for the Csa and why were the confederates acting retarded like the fat officer at 7:48

  • @DustyBivins usgennet.org/usa/mo/county/stlouis/blackcs .htm This link gives some of the history of African Americans in the Confederate Army. :)

  • @DustyBivins appox 40,000 hispanics, 10,000 asians, and tens of thousands of blacks fought in the CSA. They fought for state's rights and the right to self-govern in the face of a federal government that was no longer acting according to the Constitution and was imposing insane taxation on the Southern states. Also keep in mind that the Union segregated black regiments, while the CSA did not. Blacks and whites fought alongside eachother. But you'll never hear any of this in History 101.

  • 7:48 Oscar award

  • In reenactments, can you act as if you were shot and killed?

I'm not so sure yet, I just need to know. :p

  • @doomedtodead64 yes, you can. But you must do it right. People don't die or react to bullets like they do in hollywood or Call of Duty

  • They would actually use boys 10 and up to be drummer boys. And in the video I noticed that there were African Americans fighting for the confederates. Heh, they must like slavery...

  • @acwright1998 some slaves were offered freedom if they fought for the southern cause.

  • @acwright1998 the war wasn't about slavery, and the blacks who fought were fighting against what they saw as an opressive government just like the white man they stood next to.

  • heartige not hate

  • nice video

  • go confederates!

im on the south in a mini-reenactment in Indianapolis, Battle of Belzer

  • I used to go there all the time as a kid! @josded - 90,000 black confederates? Really? - I'll bet RE Lee would have liked to have known where these guys were. Come on.

  • @mkeithharris During the Civil War, a black slave could gain his freedom by serving in the Confederate army, though it was not popular.

  • @nelipot000 a lot slaves who fought for the south could care less about freedom as long as the south won. The south was their country too, and most of the slaves took pride in what they did to support the war. The exception would be those slaves who were owned by brutal or indifferent masters, who beat them or did very little to see that they were doing well. Contrary to popular belief, most slave owners were nice to their slaves, considering that they had a master/slave relationship obviously.

  • @josded So, you're saying that you believe in the ownership of one human being over another, well as long as the slave owner treats the slave nicely. Of course, any of us wouldn't mind siding with our slave owners if they treated us nicely. What other kind of life would we know. You know the definition of freedom is FREEDOM. That has nothing to do with how nicely somebody treats you Yes. many slave owners treated their slaves nicely, but THAT IS NOT FREEDOM.

  • @welchburger obviously you cannot read. If you bother to read my other comments on this issue, I see slavery as wrong in every way. BUT I describe the actual relationships between the slaves, their masters, and the issues of their time as truthfully as possible. Which is the difference between a historian and a politician. I must say, though, that the freeing of the slaves at the end of the war, and the way in which they were freed, caused more lasting suffering than if they were freed later.

  • wtf, they showed like two kids like middle school age in the union army

    COOL!!:D

  • @robloxace no duh, they could fight as young as 14.

  • @LegoScout09 actually, on the first year, children could be a soldier as young as 10. the youngest soldier to ever get shot was a kid named william who was wounded at the age of 12. He got shot on his left hand and his right leg

  • @robloxace Yes, cool. But only if they are mature and know what they are doing. I trained with my unit from age nine, and didn't take the field until I was 14, and even then for one event that year. I knew what to do because I had been doing it in drill for 5 years before hand.

  • WTF?

    2:29 black confederate

  • Confederate Army = Colonial Army; Poorly trained, but greatly lead, both under a confederate government, which causes states to become selfish.

  • @sownindishonor15 Actually the southern troops were the better trained and better disciplined of the two armies. A general isn't a great leader if his troops don't know how to march. This better training and their better fighting skills allowed them to consistently win battles, at least in the eastern theater. The western confederates were just as well trained and were just as good of fighters, but they suffered from poor generalship

  • Im from michigan, but. FOR THE CONFEDERACY!

  • @Sheamus1187 Haahaha same here. im from troy michigan but i want the confeds to win

  • Did I see a scotsman at 1:33?

  • Nice video!

  • this wasnt a civil war, there was nothing civil about it. It was the war between the states

  • I was in a reenactment a couple of times and i was a soilder. I am against slavery in real life but for this i always liked confederacy because we had more "Better Quality" stuff

  • @YoufckerSubcribe WHAT? if you call going without rations for days because there wasn't enough food reaching you better quality, or using a cut up blanket for shoes, etc, then fine. Although these things didn't happen all the time, they almost never happened in the Union army because the North was a supply machine with railroads and steamboats to back their armies up.

  • Stupid video. Them Yankees never won.

  • Gotta feel sorry for the poor bastard at 7:45. Scenario given, he was probably just trying to surrender or defect and the boys in blue shot him anyway.

  • civil war soldiers werent that god damn fat

  • @gingerpower9613 haha thats exactly what i was thinking! hah

  • I didn't know there were kids fighting. I knew they drummed but not fought.

  • union rules!

  • 2:31

Is that an African as a Confederate?

I have alot of respect for African Americans but... But now I've seen everything. 0.o

  • @UACmarine2O8 Black confederates were in a lot of cases jsut as supportive of the south as their white counterparts, a fact the north doesn't like to admit. Ruins their image of the rescuing heros, see?

  • Love political history and the wars.

  • in shiloh there was a drummer that was 10

  • Go Union!

  • Go Union!

  • haha they actually have these, i thought they were only in like movies

  • At the reenactment at Bridgeport, AL there is a whole battery of Scots. Generally in my regiment to carry a musket you tend to be somewhere between the age of 10-13 depending on how well mannered and respectful you are.

  • wow thats young. since im 14 could i be in a unit if i have the right respect and manners to people ?

  • you kidding? if we were in the middle age, in times of war we would have been recruited (14 too)

  • @NoscopeProdigyx Well, it varries. Where I am, we do have to abide by state gun laws, and no one under sixteen can bear arms.

  • he, is that a Scot at 1:34?

    At 2:44 too!

How old must you be to carry and fire a musket at Reenactment??

  • 16 with parents permission.

  • good video;D but ind of blurry

  • Og that looks so much fun!

  • Nice editing work and sound design. You've really captured the spirit of a reenactment event. Where'd you get the music? We've just completed a Civil War feature named "Dog Jack" and we really enjoyed our time with the reenactors we worked with.

  • w...was that a black guy on the south's army!?!?

  • there were a lot of black folks in the CSA army

  • whats the food at 0:50

  • Bean Stew

  • thanks. looks good. :)

  • @tcarr22239 O i thought it was grits

  • @MrWaddlesgee3 those may be beans

  • @MrWaddlesgee3 Nigger chickin

  • at the end of the war they allowed african americans to fight. By then they fought solely for independence and their homes

  • you mean their independence and their *homies* hahaha JK

  • @joniclemproductions Black men fought in considerable numbers at the beginning of the war, and they volunteered. They weren't sent to war by/with their masters, though sometimes a servant came along to fight the war and help their master in camp. I once had a chance to read one of these men's diaries, it was a family heirloom I was privileged to be allowed to touch. The black man described his entire service, from fighting at Manassas to fighting and surrendering at Appomattox.

  • @joniclemproductions Even after his master's death in early 1864, he continued to fight with the south. Truly inspiring to read. One day I'm going to return there to write down that diary and get it published. The family doesn't want to do it themselves, but I'm going to see if they'll let me do it.

  • we have a couple of black confederates in our BN. Its great having them...I love it when you get blakc people who avoid our confederate camps because they are confederate and then all of a sudden they crap themselves when they see black confederates!!! Its really ignorance on the part of public education. But the victor writes the history. I myself am Jewish and its a blast when we have Orthodox families stroll thru our camps and I have my Hebrew Nationals roasting on the fire!!!

  • ah looks like fun..but notice how us yanks only have a fife and drum corps...rebs have a whole brass band bahahahahaha.

  • 2:30 is tht an AFRICAN AMERICAN REBEL??
