@18Temari The Pharaoh before Ramesses I did not have any heirs. He chose his friend, Ramesses I to lead him. Ramesses II is the grandson of Ramesses I. I am not sure if this means he was non-royal but no matter what, as the video says, Ramesses II was perhaps the greatest Pharaoh of all time.

The Empire Series is interesting and entertaining. I baffles me why the series skips over in this case 4000 years of Egyptian history. The Egyptian Empire began close to 7000 years ago from the time they did this series. PBS did the same thing with their Roman History series.

It is amazing how long this empire stood, and all the world is still astonished at what was accomplished. Some scientists think advanced aliens must have helped. I just think people are very smart and a civilization can only stand as long as it continues to advance. And there can be a lot of advancement in 3100 + years. Alright, some inaccuracies: Ramses the Great (the 2nd) did not become pharaoh right after Tutankhamun. In reality, there's about a 50 year gap. After Tutankhamun comes Ay, then Horemheb, then Ramses the first, then Seti the first, and then finally Ramses the Great.
