  • Great work. These guys knew how to party back in the days.

  • I'm sorry, but the ska was pretty stupid looking. Glad that died quietly.

  • @snoopchewy1 It was not. Least I think it was lovely.

  • @good2goism I guess that's why it's called "taste". It just doesn't appeal to me. I grew up in Barbados and was still in my single digits when the ska came out. I guess we'll disagree on this one. They're doing the same boring move over and over again.

  • @snoopchewy1 i understand where your coming from but when your in the groove it 'aint like that.

  • @snoopchewy1 Yes it is old hat now - but it was new and different back in the day :-)

  • ska ska only ska

fuck off shit like voodoo glow skulls, ska-p, etc.

  • Nicest music ever.

Life is music. Live a fun one.

  • De mis favoritas :D

  • this was recorded in 1964,live at the sombrello club, not 1963,or 1962,like uploaders claim...

  • @kingska64 I've taken the audio from the 1964 LP which was recorded in 1963 at Federal Studios, not live; the clips of the video where BL&TD appear along with Keith & Ken are from the Sombrero Club film reels also of the following year as the Ska craze was booming.

  • Hey look, proper Ska dancing. Now "skanking" is just kids flailing around listening to music that is not really even ska and all sounds exactly the same!

  • @o101011o It's third wave ska. Skanking is the typical dance to third wave ska (and second, maybe, I think), while this is first wave/original ska. It evolved, but it's essentially got the same essence.

  • @WhompingWillowTree 2 Tone**

  • hahaha im 14 and yeah this is cool

  • Ah its bloody brilliant, you can see how this music is loved by people of all ages and backgrounds. How can you not smile when you hear this!

Could anyone out there tell me what's meant by "do a dip" as camera dosen't show dancers at that particuler moment.

  • the best ska song in the whole history of ska music

  • Wow... this shows Jamaica at such a beautiful time in her history when there was money, people were innocent, disciplined and the future looked bright.

Innocent couples dancing and having fun without having to grind up against each other. What a time capsule, thank you for sharing.

  • @Valizan trust me it was a beautiful time everywhere and money was abundant at the time , and believe it or not Sudan was the same at the time

  • @Valizan lol 'Innocent couples dancing and having fun without having to grind up against each other.' love how it implys that grinding isnt innocent. its just another culture.

  • @xledzepplinx lol...I don't recall ever letting anyone get that close to me, or myself getting that close to anyone, without having alterior motives. Unless that's some new fad with 14 year olds these days that i don't know about, grinding up against another person is not a 'culture'.

  • @CaelaHarlot never said you did, but the dance move "the bump" was extremely popular in the 70's in the US with disco and all, is considered the roots of it. and as far as i'm concerned (i could be wrong) disco wasn't popular anywhere else except america (thank god), rather have my ska and punk anyday of the week. i don't think ive ever grinded a girl in england, but for the 4 years i was in america it was the only way to dance with my generation, no1 could do anything else lol

  • @Valizan how does it feel to live with that stick up your ass all day?

  • @elpoptart About the same as it must feel for you to live under that bridge, Troll.

  • @Valizan Money being the operative word...where there is relative wealth you have relative peace and order, Many educated, wealthy Jamaicans left in the 70's to England, USA and Canada and took with them that wealth and education, when we look at the the so called ruination of Jamaica, look at who ran away because of Jamaica/Cuba propoganda pushed by the USA...Actually BLAME them.

  • @wolsilita Very true W. When you say blame them do you mean the U.S.A or the people who left? Or both?

I wish I had been alive to see this time. I only got to Jamaica when people had started the exodus you mention. ::sighs::

  • My mother brought back a Dragonnaires record back with her as a souvenir from her holiday in Jamaica over forty years ago. Considering that her other records were pretty bad, I never listened to it... The joke is that I got into this type of music myself without listening to them!

  • smiling i remember when i was younger doing this dacing with my friends ..jamcian family so sweet miss them so much all gone now RIP ...

    so sweet bless

  • Ska was sort of like doing the jerk back in the day.

  • lol yeah!

    except much less obnoxious

  • Its easy. Just shake your arms. Let´s try.

    Ska, ska, ska... Jamaica Ska!

  • This is just fantastic, it warms the cockles of an old Mods heart

  • even though i'm just 18, i can really appreciate this era of feel good music, i prefer this over any current track

  • @Larrygallis I feel ya, I'm in the same boat

  • Geweldig!

  • Tony Varity ah. Yeah. very cool. Byron lee was a cleaver man who ran an UP TOWN Kingston band, with tight musicians, lost from Eric Greens dance band. He bought his Hammond organ with proceeds from a tours, the first in Kingston! Now off to play some tunes on my Blaupunkt.
