Watch the last episode of battlestar galactica of season 4, towards the end they explain all this very well. They get to a planet where they find a homosepian like species already leaving there and they say that their DNA is compatible with that of the visitors. This is exactly what this ancient alien theory says as well as all the ancient text which say that humans were created by extraterrestrials. This last part of the episode puts all into clear perspective.
