I voted green, did fuck all, stupid system electoral system, 1% of us voted for Green in the last election, that's worthy of 6 seats, what happened? They got 1 and only due to the fact that luckily Brighton's full of sensible students who care.
I just looked Mark Thomas up on Wikipedia. Apparently in a 1999 interview he described himself as a libertarian anarchist. And yet he's voting Green Party!!!!
I think Mark knows the real truth is. That is that the Greens are the least worst of a horrid bunch. The Labour party were authoritarian, interfering and pro-capitalist long before Blair came on the scene. The Lib Dems believe in an abstract oxymoronic 'humane capitalism' The bottom line is we can't rely on the democratic state to change things. We need to bypass it by organising ourselves at community level, resisting the capitalist state, and building new forms of co-operation.

The Greens are dreamers, unrealistic, and economically illiterate in short a joke. The environment is a serious problem, but these jokers are not the answer.
Haha did you create a YouTube account just to say that? I don't see any "productions" on your channel. And who are you, you spiteful, hate-filled old man, to say what my grandfather and great-grandfather fought for? They fought and died so that we could vote for whom we like and so we could be free - free from a government that tells us how to live our lives. Just think for a moment before you post comments like that in the future.
Please ,please read the policies!Use what little democracy you have by using your vote! And the Greens are the only party that doesnt leave you with a nauseous feeling as you drop your voting card in the box :)
Thomas Mauthas in the 19th century said said some of the opinion that the poor breed like rabbits if this is so i think it is follows Darwins law of natural selection because they are only doing so to ensure at least some of them survive and the rich and middle classes never need to do this because they can be pretty shaw their offspring will survive to maturity.
the only answer to this is equality for all because with modern technology their are going to be less and less jobs available and as
2)always the middle class and rich daily mail readers are going to brand alot of poor people as work shy shit heads when they are the originators of the problems, we can neither afford to keep growing like the super rich and bankers wont because as we are now seeing we are becoming the authors of our own destruction so what ziggy is saying is bollocks, they are chaos capitalists not anarchists in the true sence. we need to live in harmony otherwise we will eventually strip mine ourselves to deat

Authoritarianism is authoritarianism no matter what flavour that authoritarianism happens to be whether its conservative, socialist, anti capitalist or environmentalist.
Oh & I know Mark isnt a true anarchist because the only true anarchists are anarcho-capitalists.
Mark Thomas is always working for positive, progressive change. Thinking we're gonna 'smash the state' in the next couple of years by waving some red and black flags around and refusing to vote is unrealistic.
Voting for a political party doesn't automatically destroy your credentials as an anarchist. Thomas is just working in the right direction.
@juliangibson those waving red&black flags(apart from lifestylists types ) not only do take part in demonstrations but they also try to create community&workplace organizations with a libertarian praxis , your generalization about anarchists is pretty misleading.
And i mean if anarchists have to vote for a party, they'd be voting for independent socialist working class candidates, not for a bourgeois party like the Green Party which supports 'capitalism with a human face'
Think it might be an ideal government to have a coalition of socialist type economic and welfare type government with green involvement in transport, energy and environment
I have immense admiration for mark thomas and his numerous campaigns but do believe that the answer is socialism. The socialist party in the uk also have green answers in addition to policies encompassing nationalisation and social welfare.
I dont know some of those SWP members really worry me as they seem just as power mad as the torys.
Just look at new labour they give up their ideals when they get power and as for Trade Unionist leaders some of them hare as wealthy as some of the bankers sigh
Hey there , have you actually read any of the current Green party policies? Have a good old read. I thought the same as you at first but they seem to be making a lot more sense now than any of the other reckless free marketeers currently are. As Mark said , they also have some nice Green policies.
I will be voting green though i really think people and power dont mix and what we really want is equality without the powerful over us, if you know what i mean.
Replying to your e-mail, i agree that there are some career union leaders who are raking in cash and part of the establishment. I don't really see them as socialist now, very new labour! I am very green sympathetic but feel national ownership of utilities and services will assist the greening of Britain. Not sure the Green Party believe in State ownership.
likewise i hope the greens take over the utilities because we're being ripped off and they make it look legal, as my father says its the poor who take the blaim etc

People believed the Green party in Ireland and they were elected into the new government in 2007. We now have a Green Party Minister for Environment, and other one for Natural Resources. Sadly, we also have a Shell refinery being built in a conservation area, an incinerator in Dublin, a highway being forced through a world heritage site, and a US army going through Shannon Airport every day (plus dodgy rendition flights).
well said mark - people do watch your career, what you have to say and will be influenced by your reasoned and humnourous views - enjoyed seeing u on newsnight recently :)
these are fair points you make - but don't forget, the greens are the only party to take a stance on de-politicising the growing of industrial hemp.

The immigration policy is a disgrace.
Economic migration has the effect of making the world a much more unequal place. And as people move to where the wealth is enviromental damage and poverty increases. A shockingly stupid thing to support.
Please point to the part of Green party policy that you object to rather than making vague accusations about economic migration. What makes you think the Greens are in favour of economic migration?
<3 Mark Thomas. The Green Party is the nearest thing we have to what is left of a political party in the UK. Spin doctors and CEOs in political power have proved that they cannot keep the country going, Greens are the only ones who seem to come up with any solutions. Shame they are drowned out by the noise of the others.
Mr. Thomas might also have mentioned that in the Northwest region, for the Euro elections (June 4th), it is a straight race for the 8th seat between the Green Party and the BNP. Due to the intricacies of the D'Hondt method, the 8th seat will almost certainly go to the highest-polling party outside of the 'big 3'.
If you want to keep Nick Griffin out of the European Parliament then it is imperative that people vote Green in the Northwest.
The 'Green' Party?! Yes, that's what the decline of civilisation needs to save the day! What complete and utter nonsense.
All of you should be shot.

No Mark, you Marxist little anti-Western cunt. I will not be voting Green. I believe in democracy, not communistic global-warming cuntwaftery.
MAN MADE climate change does not even exist - not proven!
I will not vote Green because the founding fathers of the UK did not battle and kill their enemies to be taken over by socialism.
Go conservatism, go neo-liberal capitalism.
Fuck the communist Nazi Green Party!

And when you mix Labours 'red' with Green you just get a muddy sort of 'Brown'!
