It was pretty much like Spin is now. Just plays the hits with the minimum of talk. Good when you're 9 years old but I soon grew out of it. There was a period around 93 or somewhere like that they went heavy on the adult contemporary so it was mostly Celine Dion and Mariah and shit for housewives to warble along to.. put me off for good.
When we went on holiday to the highlands of Scotland back in the early 90s, Atlantic 252 was the *only* radio you could get... and they only had 10 songs. My mum was pretty sick of Simply Red's "Stars" by the end of that week XD
When seeking planning permission the propaganda was all about transmitting Irish music, ballads, sports & news shows to the emigrant community in Britain.
Had they stuck with that they'd probably be still on the air today.
