@security317 so my reply is coming way later but it will help anyone who reads it regardless. it is NOT better to get one pet than the other. In fact, for most people, I would say a boa constrictor is better, since caring for a boa constrictor or any non-venomous snake is far easier than caring for a tegu. Tegus require daily handling and maintenance, while boas require feeding only once every week and a half on average as adults.

Hah, mine whpes his butt to, I have mine trained where he goes in the kitchen on the lenolium floor instead of in his cage.
This works great bc I can't really take him outside to run about.
