  • @PeaceLovePink223

The script says there is a group of 4 that includes somebody dressed up as a monkey in persian robes, playing the symbols, and somebody dressed up as a toy soldier. The script points out that the group plays 'awkwardly' throughout.

  • Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!! His mask moves with his mouth !!! I love you phantom Christine's voice is Ummmm... eeehhhhhh

  • I really like this Raoul!

  • Isn't this illegal video? You are one badass.

  • Phantom: YOU BELONG TO ME! *poof*

Me: TAKE ME WITH YOU!!! I'm surrounded by idiots !!! P

  • who hired the retard on the drum??

  • I don't like this Christine.

  • ahhahahahahha

  • lol christine has such bad accent, she said lets not argee wtf?

  • does anyone notice that most of the people at the staircase dance slowly

  • @jan111100 waha if they dance fast one would definitely fall down XDXD

  • oh my fucking gees this is awsome!!!!!!! I luv the plays better then the dang movie

  • look around there is a dummy right behind you , does anyone know how many dummies are there??

  • Comment removed

  • i knew the phantom wuz there wen i saw it on broadway

  • Fuck you Jews this shit is good

  • 0:47 XD!

  • OMG...christine's voice sucks

  • @TheHollapaula false.

  • well not to be mean but in my opinion i think the movie masquerade/why so silent is kinda better but i still kinda sorda like the costume...

  • The Phantom actually has a double who appears at the top of the steps-- it's not the same person, that's how he gets there so fast!

  • His masquerade costume from the movie can blow me this costume is AWESOME.

  • That mask is creepy as fuck.

  • @Monkeyballmania- they use a double.

  • @tantomali OOOH!!! That makes sense!!! Hahaha! XD

  • How do they get him from the trap door to the stairs?

  • Marni Raab is Christine there, Raoul is Greg Mills and I think John Cudia played the Phantom and not Gary Mauer.

  • At the end I was like HOW THE HELL DID HE GET UP THERE!? XD

  • It's not pronounced Mae sure you drunk retard.

  • I love the choreography to this song!

  • After seeing this on tour a couple years ago and even seeing the Phantom's understudy I still can't watch the movie it disapoints me, and even hateing Roaul's caracter I loved Sean MacLaughin in the National Tour

  • This performance is so awful. Noone seems to be really into what they are doing.

  • what theater is this in?

  • @jldmurray13 majestic theatre nyc

  • @sephiroth87932 oh it says its from the Tour in Dallas?

  • @jldmurray13 oh.. whoops i didn't pay much attention to that. Sorry.

  • when i saw this at aged ten i was so amazed at how the phantom just 'appears there. now i see it and its sooooooo bleeding obvious. its still great though.

  • The clothes are no like in the movie. The music to... And what is Snow White doing there?

  • This Red Death costume is a TON better than the one from the movie. When The Phantom arrived to the Masquerade in the film version, I didn't find him all that menacing. But when he appeared HERE, I was terrified. No wonder the whole party went silent! I mean LOOK AT HIM! Plus, that magic trick of his left me wondering "how'd he do that?!", while the film version left me thinking "meh, trap door".

  • @Razor9350 what? he looked so sick in the movie. the costume here just looks silly.

  • @saychristian Well, to each their own. To Gerard's credit, when I first saw the costume in the movie, I was a little threatened by it. But nowhere near as scared as I was of THIS costume. I think the mask and lack of a hat might have had something to do with it... I dunno, I guess I prefer my Red Death costumes to be more elaborate, the best example of which being in the Robert Englund version (check it out!). The costume in the 2004 film wasn't bad as a design, but it just wasn't scary.

  • MY HIGH SCHOOL DID THIS!

The broadway version is amazing, but we totally beat the movie. It's such a hard musical to do.. it was amazing. I dont know about the other schools that did it (it's not many, I'm pretty sure we were the first in New York state to do it) but we really sounded like broadway quality.

  • This was amazing in new yorks magestic theater best night of my life so far looking forward to seeing love never dies (sequel to POTO) If you haven't seen phantom of the opera go and see it as you wont regret it and its enchanting :)

  • I would just like to say how amazing and how much geniousness has been put into the Phantom pf the Opera.

  • Thumbs down to the people who disliked this video!!!!!

  • just wondering...what exactly is Meg's costume? a ringleader, or something? i just love it!

  • My school is doing this, only 6 high schools in the country are, yay us!

  • @MiSSzURi3 my school is doing this play too!!!!

  • i hear that butters is the phantom understudy in the vegas production cant wait go southpark hahahaha

  • I love all the girls outfits, 'cept for Christines, it's just too frilly and the colors don't suit her. My favorite Christine-dress for this scene will always be the one in the movie. Plus, did anyone else notice that she's wearing boots with it? Silver boots. It just doesn't work.

  • I finally got to see this for the first time two years ago! It was my high school graduation present from my parents. I want to see it again so much! I'm so glad that this year they are going to have a 25th anniversary concert in the West End! And my favorite Phantom, Ramin Karimloo, is going to be portraying him in it! If you've never seen him as the Phantom, look him up here on youtube! That's how I discovered him. Even though I've never seen him live, he's still my favorite Phantom! <3

  • wonderful thank you for posting this....PO was for me the most spectacular lavish musicals I have ever seen twice on the west end and once in south africa...amazing what incredible effects they echieved on a stage without CGI or whatever it is because of this that I feel the film was an utter failure and a mammoth disappointment completely flat and lacking any kind of theatricality...this little snippet reminds me once again why I feel this way...once again thank you

  • My school's doing this. I'm excited.

  • I'm Christine's understudy in my school's production! So excited! We just learned this choreography last night.

  • Phantom has left the .... oh, wait Never mind!!!!!

  • beautiful!

  • the douche on drums is ruining the song

  • how the hell did he dissapear and reapear in a diff spot? O_O its probably a stupid question but im tired and cant focus lol

  • @XxKelseyxX3 it's a body double. after the phantom disappears, the double "reappears" for him at the top of the stairs. kinda takes the magic away knowing, doesn't it?

  • 7:06 panel comes down for the Phantom to appear!

  • @RHCT247 Ya, I saw it come down! So thats how he did it!

  • Damn, Gary Mauer is a badass...

  • And to Trainerivan. That is not Elisabeth Southard. That is Marni Raab as Christine, and Greg Mills as Raoul

  • i'm in new hampshire and we just got the rights to this.

we're going up in february... hahaha.

  • @actng4me us too! i'm so excited! :D

  • the rights were released in June of this year

  • there is nothing like being in the audience for this play..this is good but just not the same..

  • having just read the Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe, this part makes so much more sense and is much more eerie

  • the rights can't be out....not completely. my old high schools music director had to go to london and negotiate with them the rites which he got. my old high school is the first to get these rites in america and is doing this show in december. So unless someone is lying which could either be one of the ppl on here or one of the directors, none of you are actually doing the show at your high school lol.

  • @patmrhottiepantz my high school just finished our first weekend of this production...

  • @patmrhottiepantz I'm doing it at mine, we're premeiring 9 days. I'm in Canada though...

  • @patmrhottiepantz they were just released this year when the Broadway tour officially ended. St. Xavier in Ohio is doing it as their spring musical

  • @patmrhottiepantz I'm doing it at my highschool in April. The rights were released to High Schools ONLY.

  • @gabsha1 bullshit

  • @gabsha1 We're doing it for our Winter musical right now. We open in just less than a month actually, and we still have a lot to do. Unfortunately I'm a lowly (is that a word? xD) Freshman so I'm just chorus but it's still a really fun show.

  • @ShortyStudioz COOL! What school are you in? Glen Cove?

  • @SierraArielBoggess Actually a school in Kansas if you can believe that. Opening night for us is in 2 weeks I think...

  • @ShortyStudioz Oh, okay. What role are you playing?

  • Comment removed

  • @gabsha1 You're wrong. They were also released to universities and small scale theatres. And thank god for that. The clips I've seen of high school productions have been deplorable.

  • How do they do his dissapearing effect?!

  • Comment removed

  • our high school is doing this musical for out fall production we r so excited

  • @books05 Awesome! Let us know how it goes! Break-a-leg!

  • @books05 We are to! It's so fun, we're opening in 9 days I'm so excited! (Definatly going to go into withdrawls when it's over though :/)

  • @toddcm24 actually the rights are out. both of my local community theatre companys have told everyone. one of our high schools is trying to get the rights. (of course they'll fail) but the rights are out.

  • @InfinitePlaylist909 the rights aren't out twit... i don't buy your falsifiable statement for one minute.

  • This is NOT the final performance of Gary Mauer and Beth Southard. This is John Cudia, Marni Raab, and Greg Mills.

  • my school is doing phantom this year. we are renting the costumes from this tour.. im playing christine words can not explain my excitement.

  • @theatergeek231 Awesome! My school is doing phantom too, I'm Carlotta! Good luck in your production!

  • @Egsggum congrats on your role. and goodluck

  • @Egsggum Cool! I wish I had the range for Carlotta. It is my dream to do Phantom, but it would take a BOATLOAD of money to get the rights.

  • @HPAnimeFreak Not really, our High School is doing it! (:

  • @InfinitePlaylist909

You are right, my best friend in Lubbock, Tx, his school got the rights for a three night performance.

  • @theatergeek231

    me toooo! eeekkkkk

  • THAT IS SO JOHN CUDIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! who could mistake his breath taking and purely seductive voice!! ahhh i love him!!!! =D

  • yes, i'm 99% sure that Christine is Marni Raab, and 120% certain that it's John Cudia and not Gary. great video, by the way!! could you post more? specifically music of the night, point of no return, and the final lair, if that isn't too much to ask? i would appreciate it very much!!

  • @elphabaize omg!!! as soon as i heard "Why" immediately I knew it was john cudia!! OMG!! I LOVE HIS VOICE!!! <3 and I never got to see him as Phantom...man it sucks living in SoCal =*(

  • The actors actually came to our Broadway camp and taught us the dance :)

  • Oh my god, the german girl swing costume! YES.

  • The skeleton outfit never gets old. Hilarious!

  • That's Marni Raab!

  • i always thought and still think christine's costume during this scene was stupid and could have been so much better

  • @ClassicsWEREandARE I kinda know what you mean. But I always thought her costume was such a contrast to the costumes around her. Hers is flowy and feminine when everyone else is a bit harsh and bizarre. It shows she's still young and "newly" in love, delighted to be a princess with her "prince" Raoul.

  • I was in NYC early June and saw it on Broadway. It was absolutely amazing, like, beyond words can describe.

  • Comment removed

  • everything from the show is better than the movie.. by far...

  • I saw the tour in Atlanta on Saturday and this was my second favorite song (next to Music of the Night of course...)

  • @kicksgirl12 How was Tim Martin Gleason as the phantom? I'm seeing the tour when it comes to cleveland soon!

  • @phantomofopera91 Definitely the highlight of the show. His high note on Music of the Night almost brought me to tears. He is AMAZING! And he's very nice if you go to the stage door.

  • when my vocal group went to new york, we got to meet some people from phantom and we got to learn part of the masquerade dance and when we went to the broad way showing of it, just about everyone in our group was dancing along in our with the show. it was great!

  • I never quite understand what Andre and Firmin are doing right before the song starts. Are they looking for the Phantom?

  • @MusicalGirl4983 They are scoping the place out... if you read the book you would know that the phantom always has a lasso and if they ran into the phantom... well that wouldn't be very good would it.

  • i dont get why raoul can't just wear his freaking jacket like a normal human being...

  • @ConcreteAngel1990 It was the sty'e of the day, you see it in old movies of the period. Like wearing one's pants below the crotch.

  • I always hate how christine looks like a pretty prink princess in this song O.o she's not barbie for gods sake.

  • christine's dress is sooooooooooooooooo beautiful!!!!

  • I love this show! Im seeing it again in a few weeks and im waaayy up front, so excited! The move was great, but it's sooo much more moving and amazing in person!

  • This is John Cudia, Marni Raab and Greg Mills...probably 2008. You should make the correction.

  • i like how slow this is...especially during the masquerade part. they say it so slow it makes me want to punch myself i PRAY that they fix it when i see it in sept.

  • this stunk, the masquerade part, not the why so silent

  • It's a truly beautiful piece. FRom a staging standpoint, I bet it's a pain. It's never easy to have that many people on a stage at once, especially since it's so intricate. I'm not too fond of Christine's dress, but I understand why the full skirt is necessary. But then, I hate pink, so it's probably me. :P

  • @Bremen25 In "Making of the Phantom" they say dummies were used to fill in the space on the staircase. Notice the ones on the side don't move at all. I guess economics controls how many paid players they can afford. It would be fun to use volunteers or students instead.

  • Their costumes are AMAZING. I'd love to see this live. XD

  • The masquerade scene from the musical is better than the movie.

  • @JohannaPalacio001 the whole musical is better than the movie!

  • @JohannaPalacio001 I agree with you.

  • @JohannaPalacio001 A-freaking-men!

  • @JohannaPalacio001 Actually....the movie is the musical.....or is it?

  • Am I the only one that notices that everyone seems to be off beat just a little?

  • Maybe it seems that way because of the acoustics. If this is at Fair Park Music Hall in Dallas the acoustics there really stink

  • Not GM.

    definately Cudia.

  • thats John Cudia.....

  • This is 100% John Cudia. No doubt. Most distinctive voice.

Play some other YTube clips of him and you'll see/hear.

  • Yeah, are you sure this is Gary and Beth? It really sounds like Marni and John...

  • i love the dancing <3

  • We saw it at Her Majesty's Theatre in London. It blew my mind.

  • i reallyyy wanna see this on broadwayyy the movie was so good!!

  • @lotrfreakkk the movie is nothing compared to the broadway show.

  • Omg, I saw this show it's so good

  • is the carlotta anne runnolfsson or who is it?

  • that is not Jim Weizer. Jim actually has dirty blondish hair. The christine Is Marni Raab.

  • Who is Raoul here?

  • this is marni raab

  • i think you are mistaken the date is wrong, u have the wrong cast and EVERYTHING! PLEASE CHECK OTHER YOUTUBE VIDS FOR PROOF

  • It sounds like John Cudia...not Gary Mauer.

  • that is because i heard that the actuall guy who plays the phantom got laryngitis and lost his voice.. so they used the understudy. :)

  • I saw this on Broadway last weekend!!!

    It was amazing!

(This is Molly leaving this comment, I am on my friend's computer!)
