Great to see pick players at their best.

You deserve to own a rick bass, as you can play it with incredible agility as if its part of your body.

  • @keeganaboudreau thank you very much :)

  • DAMNED good. BRAVO!!!!

  • @JRCrowley Thank you very much :)

  • @icutsmellyfarts Hi Joel. This bass, unlike Chris', is mono only, so I have to split the signal but not each pickup individually - which is a pity! Thank you very much for your interest and kind words.

  • Do Lucky Seven next, please.

    Awesome rendition.

  • @wadoryu Whenever I'll learn it , I'd love to. Thanks!

  • Awesome cover! I love this bass line :D. Also fantastic bass (Chris Squire models are so cool looking) how much did you pay for this one if you don't mind me asking?

  • @redhook4 something like 1000 GBP , but that was in 96 :) Thanks for watching!

  • sweet tone man. amp? envelope filter?

  • @Putaspellonyou The sansamp bass DI and guitar rig. Yes I should have all this info easily available, but i'll get there. Thanks!

  • nice job!

  • @wlmosley Thank you!

  • Perhaps the best Yes song that's NOT Yes. It's a shame that Squire's never been motivated to do a follow-up solo album. Nicely done, here. I remember your audio-only tracks from years ago. Impressive work.

  • @TheColininla Once again, thanks! Good times when I used to make audio only, that was the internet back then. Soon it will be so retro :))

  • how can someone dislike it?

  • @unorthodoxmu there are worse things in the world :)

  • Very Good Great Cover

  • @BOBY1953 Thank you very much Boby

  • You are really loving what you play. Music is the only true wonder on this planet!

  • @evilnerdap Some say it all comes from a sound...

  • Sweeeet!

  • @evilnerdap Thanks :)

  • Parabéns hein, Miguel? Timbre MUITO semelhante e ótima execução!

    abraço

  • @abacab1 Um abraço e obrigado!

  • buenismo lo que tocas

  • @superguitarras111 gracias!

  • my all time favorite chris squire solo song and you do a unbelievable cover. what kind of amp/effects are you using?

  • @poopygreg This was made, I believe with the sansamp bass DI and a demo version of guitar rig 3 for the fuzzy sound. Thanks :)

  • Wow. That is impressive! You nailed that. And you got your tone dialed in perfect for every video! If Squire ever needed a fill-in...You'd be the guy.

  • @afterimage289 Thank you!

  • teach me Sir.. =D

  • @notnowjon :) Hi there :) Thanks for watching

  • GREAT!!! ^^

  • @notnowjon Thank you very much!

  • Only Chris Squire can "dslike" this video. And it would be unfair !

I wish I could find the bastard who disliked this video !

  • @EddieBsB Hi Eddie! No problem ;) And thanks for your "visit"!

  • I always thought that this music was only known by a select few fellow musicians who were big Yes / Bruford / Squire fans. You completely nailed it dude. The feel is great and you really channeled your inner Squire. So many of these type videos on You Tube suck cause they don't feel what the original artist felt, or they just don't have the chops. You've got BOTH and did a fantastic job. I'm blown away. I've always loved this record and it seems you do too..! Thanks for posting this. Awesome..!!

  • @philnaccarato Hi Phil. Thank you very much for writing. That's what I end up doing - trying to feel the "Squire in me" when I do these covers. Merry Xmas!

  • I feel that in Chris's solo work he can really release all that talent he has inside. The fact that he is also a self-taught bassist and plays like that blows my mind.

Excellent cover man, I love this song, and the way you play it.

    5/5

  • @halfjaw77 That's right. His love for music made him be connected with various styles (singing in choirs, motown, contemporary rock etc...) and his own taste blends that acquired knowledge into his own works. This album is a work of art. Thanks for watching my cover. Merry Xmas

  • Nice! Sounds real good man!

  • @xtranet1 Thank you :)

  • Miguel, Was wondering has Chris ever heard any of your playing? And have you ever met Chris in person? He's gotta see what an awesome player you are!I

  • @Progrocker70 Yes about 2 times I was very fortunate to talk a bit with him and back then I gave him a cd with the covers I was making by then :) That was 2000-2001

  • fingers

  • your beast!

  • @mikeeyb31 :)

  • When you listen to "Fish Out of Water" you can clearly hear what an addition Chris' voice makes to the Yes harmonies. Great cover again Miguel.

  • @ProcolHarum1967 Thank you very much! Btw, on the deluxe expanded version Chris talks about his taste for CS&N sort of harmonies that he used (too) on FooW

  • Outstanding job Dude!! Way to go ;-)

  • @TheKzar Thanks for watching to the end :)

  • Great playing Miguel! You nail this 100% on every single note. Hats off!

  • @theskindiver007 Thank you very much!

  • chris Squier uses a quarter as a pick

  • @diamonddust22 Hi. Maybe he did some time... but Chris Squire is better know for using Herco Flex 75 nylon picks. Thanks for watching my clip

  • @miguelbass

Greetings from the UK Miguel (cs 4001 number 353 here again)

I agree with you on the Herco pick question because I have the very one Chris used on stage on the Wembley 78 Tormato tour gig ( a friendly roadie got it for me from his spot on that famous revolving stage at the end).

The original Wishbone Ash bassist used the same one (as I have that too from the 70's)

I want Sir Macca's pick next, LOL

Great to see you still inspiring Ric lovers, I hope you are well my friend.

    Pete

  • @maccafan10 Thanks Pete. In the starlicks interview He shows the very same pick. Pretty hard to get them here but I have a few from when I went to the UK several years ago :) Regards M

  • @miguelbass I've never seen the Herco pick in real life, and it seems to be almost impossible to get them here in Norway. I'm using the Dunlop Nylon Standard 0.73 gray and the Nylon Glow Standard 0.80. These 2 seems to be the nearest thing to the 0.75 Herco which is also Nylon. Is the Herco pick a hard or softer kind of Nylon? I'm asking because the Nylon Standard is a bit softer then the Nylon Glow Standard.

  • @diamonddust22 Nylon picks are awesome. I just heard it when Flea was talking about him.

  • @diamonddust22 this is just a legend, just as the Loch-Ness monster. Chris use Herco pick which is Nylon.

  • well done, this is great and the people who voted this down are twats!

  • great stuff man!

  • @derrymadness Thanks :)

  • Superb work. How wonderful to see people still being inspired by this great album. Lovin the 4001!

  • @bexbissle Thank you very much! A truly inspiring album!

  • Awesome. You are amazing! I've never had the discipline to take on an entire Yes or Squire song. I'm impressed. What are you going to do when you run out of Squire songs? Who's the next bass player to conquer?

  • @Marshmanification Good question (beyond the answer) ... I don't think I will ever run out of Chris' basslines. I don't have time. My goal was one per album and I am near that... I would like to cover more bass players and put some of my own stuff here. Thanks for writing!

  • Miguel, Chris Squire is one of my favorite all time musicians and I would have to say my favorite out of Yes, he is really the brains and the musical manager of the group more than Jon Anderson. Yes Jon Anderson is the harmonies and did some nic works but I think Squire has proved that he never bailed from Yes and did his best to keep the uniqueness of Yes that we all like from the group.

  • @StarshipTrooper32 Have to agree... and history speaks for itself, doesn't it? Like Chris says, he and Jon are like Yin and Yang. It's so true... one can of course feel the absence of Jon. But Chris has been the anchor through good and hard times....

  • I was just listening to this record yesterday and wishing bill bruford had stayed around for Tales, Chris sounds so much better with a good drummer. I am probably ruffling feathers, but I had just listened to the first side of Tales then put on Fish out of Water, WOW what an enormous dif the history making rhythem section of Bill and Chris is! (as is apparent on Fish O.O.W.)

  • @TruNordic Yes those are completely different styles. Like in the case of Banks-Howe-Rabin , or Kaye-Wakeman-Moraz... we would never know how would it be "if".... but those changes are part of what Yes is about... Well I am glad they didn't have another bass player :)))

  • @TruNordic I love Bill, but I love Alan too.

  • Damn! You did just as good as Chris Squire.... I hope Mr Squire has seen this video? Let us know if he has.

  • @StarshipTrooper32 I can't be sure in the case of this video, but Chris has already heard something from my work, which left me very very happy, as you may imagine :)

  • @miguelbass I'm curious, which tune did he hear from you?

  • @MysteryClown000 Long ago, in 2000, I went to see Yes at the RAH and I offered Chris a CD with some the recordings I was making at the time - after a long wait in the cold after the show :)

  • It seems you also modified the body (reduced the size a bit) and refinished as well. Squire claims the custom body work contributes to his sound. Hearing you playing these songs expertly would confirm that. Well done, sir!

  • @SanFernandoJym Wasn't me - this is the model that Rickenbacker produced according to Chris' own bass. The sound is known to be pretty faithful and a very good instrument overall. Thank you for watching!

  • nice job!

  • @wlmosley Thanks!

  • Awsome pal......john

  • @yescatuk Thank you very much, John.

  • i so wanna play this...:)

  • @ginaonthebass Start now - at your speeed- and have fun :)

  • Fantastic! You really nailed his sound!

  • @wystan73 Thank you very much for watching!

  • You passed the test!!

  • @anabelgalarga Thank you!!

  • Hey miguel you think you could tab the solo for me? I really want to get that solo down.

  • @CorvetteCoonass Hi! I don't deal with tabs but I soon will have a transcription if it helps :) Thanks!

  • Totally awesome chops !!! Chris would certainly be proud ! Your love for his work shines thru in perfect execution and tone !!!

  • @vtyesfan Thank you very very much!!

  • Outstanding! You play with confidence and authority and do more than justice to the original.

  • @hotties4jesus Thank you very much!

  • Superb. Great sound, great taste.

  • @poliscope Thank you very much. That's an excellent tasted album really!

  • Wow, blown away by this. I don't think Squire could top this himself. Awesome tone... what's your setup?

  • @ganjavih He would, I'm sure :) But anyway Chris invented this.... Thanks for the compliment though! My setup is at miguelbass..com/faq .

  • Excellent job dood. You really got his sound nailed, which isn't easy.

  • @MuscLA Thank you very much.

  • Yup totally agree, you nailed it

Great piece of music & great work :)

  • @AlfieNoakesOhHo Thanks!! :)

  • This thrilled me on many levels Miguel. Very well done.

  • @DominickBlack Thank you for watching!

  • Wonderful!

  • @zooropa2day Thank you!

  • Well done Miguel. You are a talented musician. Keep up the great work-we all enjoy your playing.

  • @LupeNina Thank you Gary, glad to have you here on the channel :)

  • Wow! Way over my head. Thanks for the tribute to Chris Squire! Outstanding!

My son just took over my 1982 Guild B-302 bass. Hope he has as much fun as I did, and that you seem to have with that sweet Richenbacker.

  • You are an excellent Bass player!

    And you are cute!

I will sweep you off your feet, take you to Sweden & marry you!

  • @OlafGahn You made me blush heheheh. OK, but thanks so much for watching my clips :) Greets from Portugal

  • wonderful bass playing, and nice rickenbaker chris squire series, keep rocking!

  • @pca321 Thank you very much :))

  • Excellent and fantastic musicianship! A real pleasure to watch and enjoy!

  • @langdonhillsman Thank you so much for being here and watch!

  • Nice! - I listen to this album almost everyday and I used to play bass so I've payed extra attention- You got it just right!

    Cheers man!

  • @blairmonster Thank you! Bass greetings :)

  • One of my all-time favorite songs. And a fantastic job by you Miguel! Makes me want to stash my P-Bass and get that Ric I've always wanted.

  • @Bilko2720 Thanks! Rickenbackers are precious really. Some P-Basses are great instruments too, I own one... then it's a matter of taste. Keep playing, that's the most important.

  • My favourite album of all times.

    Perfectly played, Miguel! Congrats!

  • @Stressed22 Thanks, nice to hear it's your favourite. It really is one of a kind.

  • Great Job! Very Entertaining and Educational. Beautiful Ric and you get that perfect Squire Ric sound. Kudos!!!

  • @124612 Thank you very much!

  • Love this song, and Miguel is performing superb. Just got a hold onto the Conspiracy Live CD where Chris sing and play this song live. His performance there for me is the bass bass+lead vocal ever.

  • hyvin soitettu epeli!

  • Kiitoksia oikein paljon (i guess) :)

  • @miguelbass

yes, you are welcome. correct finnish :-)

hyvin soitettu epeli= well played you ladd

    5stars!

  • Nice rick Sir, best bass of all time.

  • Thank you very much ... I evidently agree :)

  • Very Nice!!

  • Thank you!

  • Do you use the thumb/pick technique that Chris talked about on his star licks interview, or do you just use the pick? Either way, sounds good.

  • Great Job...i was learning ELP covers in jr. high when this album came out. Fish Out of Water was instantly a life time favorite for me. The best of the YES solo albums by far!. Big plus to you for for going straight into "You know i Love You". When ever i hear "Hold Out Your Hand" it just has to lead into the next number.

  • Yes the two songs are like one for me two... and I decided to do them both since they also fitted on 10 minutes :)) Thank you very much

  • Thanks much for all your hard work...and love the Rickie Bass...i had a Black 4001 back in the day. Lately been writing out just about everything that my ears like. Maybe i will write out and play Patrick's parts on these 2 numbers. I really enjoyed your performance

  • Thank you very much! As a matter of fact, Chris stated on the FooW expanded deluxe DVD edition that Pat Moraz is not really playing there. The piano is played by Andrew Pryce Jackman. The Organ was played by Barry Rose of St. Paul's. Actually it's the St. Paul's cathedral organ.

  • Very nice work!

  • Thank you very much!

  • great...am trying to work this out...any chance of the tab?

  • Hey Gina, I don't have tabs, neither I have heard of them for this song/album. Good luck with your playing and Merry Xmas!

  • happy new year to you!

shame there is no tab...is a bit of a nightmare to work out for me..but watching u play will help me get going!

  • Pretty Kickass...I like what you've done with the neck.

    Oh Yeah...

    Chris Squire Kicks ASS!!!!!

  • Thanks!! I agree about Chris ;) Merry Xmas!

  • Todavia tengo guardado el disco de vinilo .... gracias, suena muy pero muy bien felicitaciones

  • Muchas gracias! Feliz Natal!

  • Almost close enough to hold out your hand

  • For the treasures of the universe are lying at your feet! Merry Xmas!

  • you were perfect on this and I love the color of your bass. Keep going brother, I love you.
