Everyday, when you wake up, sit on your bed and spend at least 5-10 minutes thinking POSITIVE about yourself. Think of happy things, things that make you smile. I tried this and it worked for me. when i was 14 i had noticable stretch marks on my boobs and butt too, but that's normal because you're growing! by the time i was 16 or so they faded A LOT. now i'm 21 and you can't even notice them. vitamin E oil will help them fade faster/prevent you from getting more! :) don't worry you're still young!

I'm only 14 and my mom is a recovering alcoholic (sober for about 6 months) shes always supported ,me, but shes had a rough 2 years. (Her mother passed, she divorced my dad, and broke up with her significant other, as well as entering AA) Recently she has taken up smoking. I'm really concerned about her health. It started just 1 or 2 cigarettes a day, but now its more like 5. I've approached her but she just gets offended.

I am a 14 year old girl, I'm very insecure about my body, since I have a big belly. (which will hopefully go away when I turn 15-16!) But I'm learning that that's not a bad thing. My real problem is that I have stretch marks on my stomach from growing really fast, and really dark hair around my belly button and on my lower back. My name is Cat and I am in the SAME exact boat as you! At fourteen we do still have some baby fat but it might be due to diet, you have to evaluate the for yourself. If the dark hair bothers you so much you should wax it or you hair removal cream, but whatever you do DON'T shave it!!! Being tall has its pros and cons you just need to find the right swimsuit for you, try a bikini with ruffles on the bottoms so your stomach looks leaner.
I have a pretty good diet, I eat lots of fruits and veggies, and a hardworking job. So I'm guessing it's baby fat. I won't shave! I'll be sure to ask my mom about it. Hmmm, I never thought about that, that's a good idea! Thank you so much for replying, it helped a lot!

@Pudding51 If you want to lose weight, try walking or going on a jog. Don't turn to drugs or any of those bad things to fill that void. As far as having those things on your mind, try telling someone you can trust like a family member, a counselor, or a close friend. You can get through this.

Also, look into free counselling sessions - even though you don't know the person who is listening, they are bound by a confidentiality clause which forbays them from telling anyone, so you're secrets are safe with them. - I'm studying to be a psychologist, that's how I know all of this. - I really hope you find someone to talk to, and that everything works out well. Hey, about a year ago I liked this girl and when she worked out that I liked her she used me to her advantage, like got me to give her money for drugs and stuff, eventually I ended it. Reaching out is the first step to recovery, it shows you want to change. eveything i do stresses me out, my baby cousin died very recently and he was only 33 days old, sometimes i feel suicidle and its at school aswell... one day i came home with 3 broken fingers on one hand 2 on the other and a black eye, i had to say i walked into a door, although that never worked... this started when i was 4, im now 12 - i cant stand it anymore, i was so tempted to jumping off a bridge or the top of a building... when i was 14 i had noticable stretch marks on my boobs and butt too, but that's normal because you're growing! by the time i was 16 or so they faded A LOT. now i'm 21 and you can't even notice them. vitamin E oil will help them fade faster/prevent you from getting more! :) don't worry you're still young!

I'm only 14 and my mom is a recovering alcoholic (sober for about 6 months) shes always supported ,me, but shes had a rough 2 years. (Her mother passed, she divorced my dad, and broke up with her significant other, as well as entering AA) Recently she has taken up smoking. I'm really concerned about her health. It started just 1 or 2 cigarettes a day, but now its more like 5. I've approached her but she just gets offended.

I am a 14 year old girl, I'm very insecure about my body, since I have a big belly. (which will hopefully go away when I turn 15-16!) But I'm learning that that's not a bad thing. My real problem is that I have stretch marks on my stomach from growing really fast, and really dark hair around my belly button and on my lower back. My name is Cat and I am in the SAME exact boat as you! At fourteen we do still have some baby fat but it might be due to diet, you have to evaluate the for yourself. If the dark hair bothers you so much you should wax it or you hair removal cream, but whatever you do DON'T shave it!!! Being tall has its pros and cons you just need to find the right swimsuit for you, try a bikini with ruffles on the bottoms so your stomach looks leaner.

Dear Buck, I recently went away to a sleep-away camp it was for a week it was boys and girls and I had no connection with the outside world. There I met a lot of new people! They were fun outgoing and carefree, by hanging out with them I gained this new found confidence. I have used it to my advantage in another camp in went to. I really like this "new" me and these insecurities I used to have are gone! I want this to stay this way but I'm afraid either I will lose sight of who I reall

Buck please help me!!!! I was diagnosed with epilepsy when I was 8 and am now 20. I have tried almost all the medicines there are & have a vns implant. It was working for the first 10 months but now my seizures are increasing. Dear Buck: Hey! I'm Loviisa, I'm 16 years old and I'm from Sweden (yay). I got bullied for 6 years from when I was 16 'til I was 12, and it really left me scarred. I hate myself and I can barely look at myself in the mirror. I've kinda got an eating disorder from this, but no one takes it seriously since I'm not underweight. I hate eating in public and I can stop eating for a few days at times. What should I do to start liking myself and to move on from being bullied? Thanks for answering!

@xLuzzie hey loviisa i know im not buck but its goood that you have egnoledged the problem some things you can do to love yourself might be to look yourself in the mirror and say one thing everyday that you like about yourself it might be your personality your eyes etc. also to start eating again you should take it day by day just try and get the nuitrints you need

@2012Alygirl thanks for the answer! I know, I try to take it day by day but its hard, and it really does go in waves. Sometimes I eat "normal" and sometimes I don't eat at all. I try to think positive but its really hard because the things they bullied me about still pop up......

@xLuzzie Since the bullying has left you scarred you should maybe try to get over it and on with your life, remember what goes around comes around so the bullies will get their karma. Don't start hating your self ,your 16 you should be hanging out with your friends having good time not hating your body.And about the eating disorder, try to think of your favourite food e.g: waffles ,ice-cream.ect and try to eat with out hating your self just one bite after another until it's done hope I've helped

I have considered doing things like cutting, smoking weed, and becoming anorexic or anything to get rid of this extra weight or to help me cope with it. i know these are bad things but i cant seem to filter these thoughts out of my head.

@Pudding51 If you want to lose weight, try walking or going on a jog. Don't turn to drugs or any of those bad things to fill that void. As far as having those things on your mind, try telling someone you can trust like a family member, a counselor, or a close friend. You can get through this.

@09ejohnson deep breathes and talk yourself out of cutting. It really makes a difference. Also, look into free counselling sessions - even though you don't know the person who is listening, they are bound by a confidentiality clause which forbays them from telling anyone, so you're secrets are safe with them. - I'm studying to be a psychologist, that's how I know all of this. - I really hope you find someone to talk to, and that everything works out well. Hey, about a year ago I liked this girl and when she worked out that I liked her she used me to her advantage, like got me to give her money for drugs and stuff, eventually I ended it. I bumped into her at a night club last night and we talked for like an hour outside, then we went inside had a dance, I bought her a drink and we had a good time. I don't know if I should try and get things to work with her again and risk being messed around or just leave her completely. Please help!

Hope you're less stressed. xxkila : Bucks advice about there being guys out there who like tomboy gamer girls is true, even if it doesn't seem true. I've been there. If you end up with somebody who doesn't share your interests, you'll only have nothing to talk about after the first flush of romance goes away. Trust me on this. Just be yourself.

So, today my best friend told me he liked me. He has a girlfriend. She knows as well. Previous to him telling me we had a conversation about how he was the only one I could talk to and vise versa. I can't tell him it won't work out because I can't lose him, he's basically the only friend I have.
Please help, I have no idea what to do. If I don't say SOMETHING, it'll be awkward forever, but I can't leave it like this!

I know it can be confusing when it comes to a friend liking you, especially when they already have someone. My advice to you is to just be honest with him. - And just a tip, if you do want to date him, I really suggest talking to him about it... I have been dating my best friend for over 2 years, and he is the most supportive, caring and best boyfriend I could ever ask for.

@DoriDoriDoriDM - All you really need to do is be honest, let him know how you feel, and things should work out. I've found with relationships (not just dating, with friendships as well) it's better to be honest and open instead of hiding how you feel, to spare someone's feelings. If he likes you, and you like him back, go for it. And if you do end up going out, and breaking up, if he's a real friend, he would stay your friend no matter what. Good luck! @08ejohnson - Hey hun, first off let me say, don't feel stupid for reaching out when you need help; even if it's on a site like youtube. Reaching out is the first step to recovery, it shows you want to change. I know from personal experience how hard it is to stop cutting, but if you try talking to someone, like a teacher, a close friend, even a pet about how you're feeling before you cut, you might feel better. Also, try putting away any sharp object you might want to cut with, it stops the

People might say that, but that's just because they don't know how to react and that's what the stereotype is. You cutting means that you don't know how to deal with your emotions and that you want to find a way out; a release of some sort. Sometimes it's not best to talk to friends because they aren't mature enough to sympathise with you. Try talking with a guidance counsellor or (if you trust them enough) even your parents.
