I've had the pleasure of seeing this guy in person and being on the track with him 1999 IU invitational, simply put ,,"amazing" I blew out my heat but this guy was smoking, he ran the fastest 55meter dash in the world, 6.129 automatic . Don't get it twisted he crushed Indiana top sprinters that years, he actually sounded like a motor cycle :-) yeah thats what he sounded like I remeber it like yerterday. I always wondered what happened to him. Glad he's back

@Bantermania You can't calculate it like that, average speed of 60m race is much lower because most of the distance sprinters just only accelerates and reach their topspeed few meters before finish line, if ever. On 100m distance they have another 40m at full speed or slight deceleration. An absolute world record on 60m I believe is 6,38, held by Bruny Surin and 6,39 indoor, held by Maurice Greene, former 100m world recordman, as you may know.

dat isnt accurate because the start is a huge factor in a race, there is no way bolt can run under 6 seconds in a 60m, remember you have 40m to go. in the world champs bolt ran a 6.29 60m split and finished 100m in 9.58s, and this was at his best. On a regular day bolt wouldnt come close to that an will robably run a 6.4 or 6.5, which may give you a 9.9, 10.0 for a regular guy but a 9.8 for bolt.

@brandaiii from the board it does indeed say 60 meters and the record for Usain was I think 9.58 for a 100 meter, If you do the math, this Casey Combest will run the 100 meter in 10.983 seconds, and if Usain ran the 60 meter he would run it in 5.748 seconds....clearly faster then this guy.

Here is the simple math for people who doubt me.

Casey Combest running 100 meters:

(6.59 x 100 ) / 60 = 10.983

Usain Bolts running 60 meters:

(9.58 x 60) / 100 = 5.748

I responded by apologizing for the misunderstanding and making myself clear as the numbers I used were the average speed of both runners. I hope I clear things up. The calculation was not to show how fast Usain is but to show he is at average faster then Casey.

First Casey was a beast at this point in his career, there's no doubt about it. His 6.59 is a world class mark, and is only .20 off the world record of 6.39, and don't forget he is only 18yrs old during this race. Also look at his build..............with the proper training/coaching, nutrition and weight training he would have been a 60m world champ.
