  • maestro =O

  • Awesome to learn from one of the best DJ's out there

  • Dang, I've always wanted to try and DJ, but I looked at this and I got kind of intimidated lol. But then again, he's the best in the world. I know like nothing about DJIng haha. Fail.

  • what kind of headphones is he using?

  • @AVBtrance1 they're technics rpdh-1200, I have the same ones they have amazing sound

  • @DJYaron22 thanks buddy!

  • @AVBtrance1 im pretty sure technics rpdh-1200 are about 169 now

  • wats the title of the first song ??

  • Thats just banana crazy!

  • what mixer is that?

  • @MrTheNova

    djm 800 from pioneer

  • @petrusini10 how BOUT THE CDJ's srry if im annpying im new to djing and im thinking bout getting CDJing setup

  • @MrTheNova

Hey, yeah I got the same Problem. In this video armin is using a pair of cdj-1000s (mk3?)

If you also want to buy yourself cdj players, i would compare all cdjs. You can also watch reviews of the players on youtube. The best thing would be if you can try them out, maybe at a friends home or in a store.

I want to buy myself a CDJ-400 or a 350, because the others are way too expensive for me.

  • @petrusini10 THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

  • @MrTheNova

no problem, but choose wisely! dj'ing is very expensive.!

you can also look at the cheaper "denon" cd players.. or something similar

  • @MrTheNova if you are the beginner i would recommend you pioneer djj-s1 it's cheaper, but its good, and if you get mastered at that, then you could buy the expensive stuff, like armin has, btw, good luck!

  • Extremely well done how-to. Thanks for putting this together!

  • the title the last song is: Bobina- Invisible Touch (Ferry Corsten Touch Remix)

  • I don't know, what's the second tune. Can sb help me?

  • HOW FUCKING GOOD IS HE

  • I used to dj yrs ago, never had any of this, i did'nt have a clue what bpm the tracks where when using the good old vinyl, times do change!lol

  • @darkenstars Those where the times of real DJs. Now equipment substitues human. Vinyl simulation, auto-beatmatch, beat counter, waveform display. Good DJs can perform the same quality without those features.

  • nice videos i subbed return the sub please

  • first dj i ever heard talking about notes when mixing, now i understand why he is one of the greatest

  • God is a DJ, his name ARMIN VAN BUUREN

  • what is the name of the last song?

  • Hey People What is That Song that he's playing in that video??????

  • @facetoface258 L.E.D. There be Light - Rank 1.

  • can any one tell me the name of the songs he played??

  • can any one tell me the name of the songs he played??

  • worst camera moves I've ever seen -.-

  • How is Armin the number one DJ in the world? He's just beatmatching and twisting a few knobs. Wow. Does he even scratch? He has a vinyl table but I don't see him using it. That's cool that he actually keeps track of the key of each song though.

  • @mattstank shut up you twat ! he is a professional trance dj he gets paid to play trance ! he aint a turntablist !

  • @mattstank Of course you wouldn't understand, you don't seem to listen to trance, that is where trance djs differ from "scratching djs", trance isn't about the scrachting.

  • @mattstank scratching is.... eh.... hip - hop

  • FIRST SONG?

  • what is the "G" that he is refering? whats that? he says that one track is in G and other is in "fchar" (wtf?) .. what does that mean? min 2.25

  • @jsousa69 G and F sharp are notes on the musical scale. It's the key that the track is playing in. At different speeds the track plays at different pitches which doesn't sound good. So he sets them to the same key so they mix.

  • @jsousa69 G-note and F-sharp note xD

  • Fantastic vid. Btw it's 0.74% which equals 1 BPM difference.

  • @jameswandii fine, so put your bpm pitch range on the pioneer to 6% which means the pitch changes by 0.02% as apposed to the 0.05% which the 10% pitch range offers.

  • Name of song?

  • This is so good, I kept listening the 1st 20 seconds over and over again, what an excellent DJ!

  • This trick only works if the two tracks happen to differ 8 to 9 bpm and half a note.... Interesting find, but utterly useless.

What would have been a good tip is that pitching 0.80% equals 1 percent.

Even better still: don't bother looking at your bpm counters, they are off quite often plus you look like a super douche if you line up your pitch in one go while looking down at your nifty little display.

  • @frederickoliver That is all bullshit your talking about mate.

And the pioneer bpmcounters on the newer marks are accurate enough to rely on. While you are worrying how you look while playing some records, meanwhile another DJ wich uses the bpmcounter mixes a nice set

  • @dralenvan not at all bullshit I'm affraid. It's simple math dude. Great idea, but doesn't work all of the time. You'd be better off to just tune all your tracks on the computer. Batch transposing to a certain key, let's say Cm.

By the way.... 0.80% pitch = 1bpm. So if your bpm readout on deck A reads out 126 and deck B reads out 124, you pitch op deck B by 1.60%.

  • @frederickoliver It depends on the BPM of the song wich percentage is one BPM.

  • @dralenvan ofcourse it does... makes perfect sense. that's were your ears come in to play

    126 x 1.008 = 127.008

    126 x 1.016 = 128.016

    126 x 1.024 = 129.024

    etc

This is just by adjusting the pitch by looking at bpm counters and the percentage on your cued deck, you can always adjust the pitch up or down to match the other track. It's just a rule of thumb.

  • @frederickoliver I think id rather trust the professional who knows what hes talking about over a amateur dj any day

  • @swiftarrow22 Really? So you think being famous and professional are the same thing? You are quite sadly mistaken my friend,

  • @frederickoliver im pretty sure hes a professional dj?

  • any body knows the name of the song? is it marcel woods - inside (dub trance version) or is it different?

  • whats the track at 4.39?

  • @izaatmusic

    bobina invisible touch

  • what are the name of the songs?

  • @ruben3618 Rank 1 - L.E.D. there be light is the main one he's using

  • to DJ it isnt so hard.. you just need an eye for the music that the crowd want to hear and an ear for the music xDD

    But, Armin - respect 8)

  • like the shirt!

  • I trully think than Armin must be from another planet! xD

he does amazing music! his effects, his riffs... just awesome :P

  • woow xD

  • does a cdj show the key of the track or you have to understand by yourself?

  • @Alekc24

you have to know the key your self

  • @Alekc24 I use this software which scans my entire music library and puts the BPM and Key of the song into the song title. Then, I can label my burned CDs with the key and BPM for easy mixing :) mixedinkey.c()m/

  • Master...!!!

  • the second track is called Bobina - Invisible Touch (Ferry Corsten remix) fyi

  • Love the video but the camera work is fucking awful.

  • Armin is the best!

  • i love invisible touch!

  • Nowhere mate nowhere

  • @netaneld122 true :) he also forgot to turn ON the MASTER TEMPO :)

  • Rank 1 - LED There be Light

  • Armin is a good technical DJ obviously, and he knows the technology well but his sets are boring.

I think he's too into doing everything properly, it's like he's a machine sometimes. It's like he goes into a set with everything planned out infront of him but if that plan doesn't work he isn't able to change the way he plays. I love Trance music but for DJ's I think Techno has the best, they're much more adventurous and exciting to listen to.

  • whats the name of the track=?

  • Damn Armin, let me get your CD collection!

  • This why is he the number one absolute amazing this is real djing

  • Wow, he has well over $7000 worth of gear there

  • whats the song name?

  • foverosssss.......)::):):)

  • am a scottish dj called SCOOTYLAND and i love arwan van buuran

  • That mix was perfect , as if the melody of the other track transformed into the next track.

  • awesome!!

  • Armin you are the Best ever

  • pretty well organized...

  • Talking from hearth ! Love it !

  • Armin said himself...He thought that Guetta earned the top spot. But is humble. Armin is number one for sure.

Mirage is gonna fucking own. Armin Only LA 2011!!

  • i am so happy watching this video.... armin is awesome......

  • im going to start a church where we pray to Armin, anybody wants to join ? lol

  • @booyaah8 Muppet

  • OMG when i heard the beats of that song invisble touch i was like "WHY didn't he release his remix he just made in this video of that song!" the beats were just perfect and the melody was just arousing my ears with tremendous sounds

  • Its official 5 retards exist on planet Earth :)

  • wicked...thank you

  • I'm not sure if i got this qute right! I'm not supposed to use single ear monitoring because it will damage my ears quicker? Instead,i'm supposed to use split cue and beatmatch in my headphones becuase your ears will last longer?

  • @sK1r3 It's Bobina))))))))))))))))))))))

  • I got wet and i don't even own a vagina.

  • @saikimimaru wow! this comment could only come from an awesome Armin fan. Cheers!!!!

  • @afromasu dude, extremely well said!

  • what tune is 4:44 ???

    pl reply

  • @donzaliko Bobina - Invisible Touch (Ferry Corsten Touch)

  • @donzaliko gaia tuvan :)

  • but the question is, who tought him all those tricks to begin with!! then again, i wouldnt be surprised if he's self-made pro dj!! respect to this guy!

  • Armin is freaking amazing!!!

I am a Dj myself i have seen live 4 times and he always blows mind.

    He is my idol

  • @TheYoungandFast he is a GOD !!!!

  • What Song Is It That He's Mixing With. Awsome.

  • @CONNORBEE3 Its: Bobina - Invisible Touch (Ferry Corsten Touch), and my mind was just blown by this tutorial. He just shit a load of dj knowledge on me and i couldnt comprehend it all. kudos to armin and the other pros out there

  • How do you find out the key of a song? Do you just have to be a well trained musician?

  • @bizarreparadox

there is a program called Mixed in Key that scans your music folders takes a while but is well worth it i use it and i love it, it also tells u how it works with keys and yes u will mix better with it :) GL with it

  • @cylefica

Thanks man, once I have the funds I think I'll invest in it.

  • @bizarreparadox there is software for that with very obvious name, just google it.

    secret clue: camelot

  • MIND BLOWAGE!!!! "8 or a half bpm's is a half note" soo tight

  • Is there a song where you got the Que points from becous i Really like them, and maybe u could say the products u use to make the Que points? :)

really thanks if you Reply this :) (or someone els who knows it ;) )

  • @tomboom1995 The tune he's playing when he's using the Hot Cue's is "Rank 1 - L.E.D There be light (Original Mix)". He has just "searched" around in the track for the points, the breakdown, the chorus and the first kick-drum and programmed them to be hotcues. You have a "record" button under the hot-cue buttons which is used to actually program the hot-cues. It's not a custom tune if that's what you're wondering.

  • @utrolig Oh no, thx for the help

  • Great tips!

  • Please what is name of function/knob/filter he uses at 0:06, 0:09 and 0:21?

  • @Jogurtoz That's the filter effect, twisting it clockwise it acts as a high pass filter, which eliminates the lower frequencies in the track such as the bassline, and twisting it anti clockwise acts as a low pass, taking away the higher frequencies such as high hats and leaving the bassline in. hope that helps.

  • @Jogurtoz he increases the 7 khz from parametric EQ

  • what's the song in 4:40?? please tell me.. its epic.. thx.

  • the best advice he gave here was 'GET SOME EAR PLUGS' u only get 1 pair of ears don't abuse them!

  • You nubs are lucky we have cdj's now, they tell you the bpm and all. I had to start with vinyl, learned how to read my own bpm's and mix all by ear. Good thing though because it made the crosse over to cd easyier. The best way to cheat is by using mix programs on laptops, I hate laptop DJ's. But hey, what ever works I guess. Good luck to you all.

  • @kaluevue you insultin deadmau5?

  • @2dowhenyourbored Fuck Deadmau5! Just kidding.... there's a big difference between dj producers playing there own music and making music right in front of you. I'm talking about guys who play with dj programs at party's that think there the shit when the computers doing all the work. I'm a big Deadmau5 fan, but like most dj's I like to do things manually to show my skills. It's part of being a dj.

  • @kaluevue yeah i undrstnd

  • @kaluevue It is really easy to see your side of things. However it's kinda anti-evolutionary. Why continue to do things the hard way just to get the same result? Work smart not hard?

  • @xxfloppypillowxx Yep....I know.

  • @kaluevue wat if i dont wna carry around cds and scratch them

  • @xXSYCADELICXx Thats your job man, It's up to you to take care of what you got. And always make sure you have more then what you need to play a set. You never know when some of your cd's might just not play. sometimes you have to make copies just in case. Unless your just talking about carying around a laptope to be more safe.

  • @kaluevue i get u i have been using cds but its just annoying scratching and looking for cdz i mean i could do it but i mean it be alot easier and cheaper later on if u just stick with a laptop just for music i mean wat wrong with that that cdj that hes using is the best in the world we dont all have enough noney for that my cdm skips cds alot its agrivating which is why ive thought about changing to laptops not with like a hercules rmx or sumthing that looks like a toy u know but something legt

  • @xXSYCADELICXx To carry music, hell yeah its a lot easyier to carry a laptop, or even just a key drive full of music. But with the cds and cdjs thing, most shows that you go to should already have these things set up for you. it's up to you to be diversed in using the equipment. I dont own cdj's, but I learned how to use them. I prefer still using vinyl, but you have to keep up with technology and things like this, its part of the fun of being a dj.

  • @kaluevue i see but the thing is im barely starting out ive only played at a few parties but using midi i kno fukn gey but i got used to my cdm but its just about the cds thats why im thinking of getting something to hook up to a comp just for music to me it doesnt take the fun out of it its just to get the music.

  • @xXSYCADELICXx there's nothing wrong with using a laptop and programs like serato scratch. It's the same thing. The CDJ shows the BPM, so does the software. The CDJ shows the track wavelength (albeit a not so good one), so does the software. There really isn't that much of a difference between flipping through CDs and browsing a list of tracks on a software program; the mixing is the same since the computer is connected to said CDJ which serves as the MIDI controller. Vinyl is a different story.

  • @Dani1165 thats where im getting at never tryd vinly but looks like fun

  • @xXSYCADELICXx Try it out, and good luck.

  • @kaluevue not nouf money...sad face

  • @xXSYCADELICXx lol, I hear ya.

  • Grüße Fräulein, Sturm-Verbot-Führer, one of has them a delay with DJ, alcangam, of which it is the function established to socket excluded, when one breaks external public and hair-I increase of him of the black girls, than will be transformed into the oscillations of the excrement

  • longg livee arminn yoo :D true tranceee dj' not reaally easy to mixx. thats what's amazing about trance

  • he\s amazing

  • I recomend for people starting out to learn the circle of fifths, and study thirds when it comes to harmonic mixing. Find a program to key your music and then learn basic music theory on all relivant major and minor keys.

    -J

  • Man!! Does someone have a track listing!!!???

    This is heaven!!!!

    WOOOO!!!!

Cheers from a major Armin Addict!

  • name of the song at 4:24?

  • @trancelover001 bobina invisible touch (ferry corsten remix)

  • The Keys As In The 1 Armin Talks About... The Bass Keys! Please..

  • Can anyone help me... I wanna know how exactly the keys work!! Please! Will Be Really Glad!

  • does anyone know the tune from 1 til like 2 ?

  • How do I know what keys my tunes are? Would be really helpful if anyone could help me out :D

  • @nkrautz , there are a few programs which you could buy for a computer which check key and beats per min of your selected track. One for example is called "Mixed In Key".

    Hope that helps

  • @rayandjoanne Thanks alot! I have made a CD-map just like Armin's, it's really really helpful when DJ'ing. :D Tried it yesterday, had a blast and got alot of compliments on my DJ'ing. Superb Armin, thanks for this tip!

  • @nkrautz , glad to help. Thanks for the reply.

  • one of my friends has a pioneer i dont remember which

amateur but the songs sound cool when played like at 1:10

  • Super informative!! That's really interesting. I've seen quite a few live DJ's including Armin van Buuren in Enschede, Netherlands. He's not called the worlds best DJ for no reason. Seriously, he's the best!!!! He really knows how to get a crowd going & keep them enthused.

  • wudnt u guys love to have the god of trance as ur teacher i would :)

  • he makes it seem so bloody easy...nice guy

  • what are the bpms? i dont get when he says that...someonee explain?

  • beats per minute (BPM).

is thenumber of base drumming that exists on a minute. i think so

  • @anacel164 yeah... that's right... Beats Per Minute ;)

  • whats the name of the song he is using?

  • so does he increase the bpm's on the first track to take it to G, or does he bring down the bpm's of the second track down to get it into F#.

  • @trainerbuki The latter..

  • @djrits Thanks. By the way would you happen to know by how many BPM you can change a track without changing it's key. I know Armin says 8-9 BPM changes a track by half-a-step, but what about everything in between (i.e. 1-7, 10-15)?

  • @trainerbuki If you change the pitch of a track (pitch is counted in BPM), the key will change, no matter by what amount. The difference in pitch is the most audible on a vocal or strings. Even a 1 bpm change can cause a change in key. Its not really advisable to change the key of a vocal track, try mixing tracks with closer bpms and which sound similar in key. You don't have to follow any specific method, just make sure the mix doesn't sound out of place.

  • @trainerbuki Its always better to use master tempo/key lock and avoid mixing tracks which vary by more than 4 bpm. The track was produced at a particular bpm for a reason. Many would whine that master tempo is not real DJing, but that's not true. Its like saying using filters or a roll during a transition is not real DJing! They're all tools, use them to make your sound as good as possible!
