i hate when people disrespect any musician. this guy is obviously really talented, just respect it. if all you can do in life is rip on people from YouTube, then you should get up out of your mother's basement and try something like this.
@blackhawkdownsnare you're an idiot. You obviously don't know Wes because if you did, you'd know he is the most humble and friendliest person you'll ever meet. Not to mention an outstanding teacher and inspiration to many. From experience being led by him in the academy and instructed by him at ASU
I don't even know you, but considering your fricken youtube name is "metaldrummer", I know you cant do the shit he's doing in this video. you probably suck at keeping time too. or playing slow for that matter
all you sissies that are talkin smack about dci drummers get behind a drumset and play the shit he just played. Wes is my teacher and honestly he's the best set player i've ever seen. He teaches snare bass and tenors. He'd smoke all of you guitar center posers. It's not how fast you play double bass its the quality & perfection of each stroke & Just cuz it's organized doesn't mean its any less creative.Go play guitar hero or someting. Snoooooooooooooop!
you my goodsir just won at the game of life. i agree completely . i play doube bass shit too but im all about makming it good. its about quality not quantity.
yawn. im sure this guy can rip on a snare or tenors, but all it takes is a trip to your local guitar center to find guys who can tear this guy up on a drumset.
i'm SO glad i didn't become a marching band junkie after high school drumline. now i have a career in drumset playing and all this guy's ever gonna do is pay to march dci.
That was probably the dumbest comment i've ever seen. This guy is a real musican, not just a random drummer who has good chops and can go around a drumset like no tomorrow. DCI drumset players > Random players who cant read music. This guy is easily going to have a career, and probably something beyond that.
yeah dude and who said you can't have a career in DCI. the last time i checked, drumset players are not the most successful people. and the fact that he is a DCI drummer does not mean he is a poor drumset player.
You are ignorant my friend, completely ignorant. While I will agree that you can find some studs in Guitar Center, you can find Stud set players EVERYWHERE. But how many of them are true musicians? Trust me, I'm sure there are many more people making more money then you to play rudiments.
Oh, and by the way. Paying for DCI? Thats all? To begin, most people can get enough sponsors they barely pay anything. Do you even know how many people have endorsements for rudiments? Especially against set.
Yeah, bro, not all people are as fortunate to find a career as a drum set drummer as you may be or may be frontin' as being. People get paid A LOT in DCI. You start as a marcher, then you move on to tech/instructor WHILE you march WHILE being sponsored. Then you age out, and STILL get paid to instruct. You just don't march. Vic Firth, Scott Johnson, Lee Beddis, Ralph Hardimon, Tom Aungst; great players who all have their own line of sticks. They rake in money, man.
I'm sorry bud but whoever told you that lied their ass off. Nobody makes shit is DCI. The names you listed get their money from writing music and from stick sales. But they don't make jack shit from DCI. Working for DCI is more for personal respect.
haha all people at guitar center do is sit behind the set and try to play double bass as fast as they can. and make a fool of them self. while set is fun. DCI is a one in a lifetime experience. you can play set forever you can only be in DCI till your 21. so your missing out man
I agree with you completely, but IMO DCI drummers usually are nothing on set. The creativity, feel, and groove is always lacking. There's too much structure and rehearsal involved, it always seems.
@blackhawkdownsnare um he also teaches asu drumline. and he's not a dick, he's probably one of the nicest drumline techs ever! i know from experience with him
yeah all you guys who think he doesn't have groove are just stupid. It is a solo piece not a fricken song. he has 4 minutes to show different styles and he does that. he is grooving the whole time! he also shows chops. that is the point. plus if you are ignorant enough to say DCI is for chumps you can suck it.
Lol he started with the intro to the song soul with a capital S, by Tower of Power.
Man-o-man corps drummers trying to play a kit. Im not gonna talk trash because I have yet to make it into a world class corps but, stick to the drumlines bro.
true that criticism helps you grow musically, but some of your criticism sounded a bit ignorant, if i may say......i would LOVE to see your DCI I&E drumset performance as well
Being a drummer myself I can understand the complexities of what he played. All of it sounds like something someone plays when they've only been playing drums for about 2 or 3 years. Sure, there is technical ability, but beyond that, there's not much groove, not much musicality. It's too obvious that the guy is a rock drummer more than anything else.
you're crazy.....just a rock drummer??? no way in hell, it's CLEARLY obvious that this guy has played a hell of a lot more than rock..... seriously, this was amazing, and it had plenty of musicality....you obviously didn't listen very well. STOP THE HATING. i give it 5 stars.
Definetly agree with you on that one. I've been playing for 6 years myself, so I get all that he's doing, but there really isn't groove behind it, other than the one damn Snoop Dogg song in my opinion.
Being a drummer myself I can understand the complexities of what he played. All of it is astounding and awesome. There were a few spots where the fills didn't flow with what you were playing previously or the groove that he was playing, but all in all it was great.
People, you can be jealous but there's no need to click the dislike button... What's this world come to?
