  • this song is harder than a nerd looking at playboy

  • hmmm, work on your speed and timing, stop using the sustaining pedal, make sure you are going at the right tempos for certain areas, and make sure you don't slow down for unfortable parts since it seemed like you were slowing down to compensate for the fact that you get a certain part as strong as other parts. other than those things, you are a pretty good piano player and this didn't sound half bad. please don't be offended by the earlier comments.

  • I like it - Some of the phrases were.... different than what i'm used to. Not bad though

  • how old were you answer me please

  • Your a nerd.... but god at piano

  • ahm... You play very well... but try to play it a little bit slower!

the camera sucks, so the sound wasnt that good.

  • amazing, lovely tone your getting from that steinway, they are amazing pianos. rhapsody in blue is one of my favourite pieces almost ever, and i really want to play it on the piano, but i doubt thats going to happen

  • Very nice... I hope to play that myself for my senior recital..

  • Amazing! You should be very proud of your talent.

  • you fucking cheater!!!!

  • This was amazing, I would have loved to be in the audience to appreciate this in person.

  • props

  • awesome. i like the pedal, actually. i know it's not supposed to be like that, but whatever, it's a nice flair that adds some depth, i think. i like to hear how everyone interprets this song slightly differently.

  • i dont understand nothing with the pedal the pedal is very ugly

  • no offense but i dunno-- maybe its partly the recording but the piece sounds muddy at some points-- i think he held the piano peddle down too much and too long

  • 0:58-1:01???

    and 1:42-1:52???

    LOOOOSSSSSSSEEEEEEEE TTTTTTHHHHHEEEEE SSSSSSUUUUUUUSSSSSSSTTTTTTAAAAAAIIIINNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, not the best, but for anyone to play a gershwin piece is amazing, at least to me

  • yes youre right man

  • @ilift247 bloody agree with this. i know that its a recital piece but gershwin has already said that "to play American popular music (rhapsody in blue) most effectively, one must guard against the natural tendency to make too frequent use of the sustaining pedal". other than that, i quite enjoyed it

  • lots of sloppy spots, where big chords run in to each other and its like what just happened? when you do that you lose all rhythm and it throws the audience off. besides that, pretty good.

  • amazing! such a beautiful piece. he plays it so good...

  • oiajsdfpoaisdjfaopisdjf beautiful

  • this is simply amazing..........

  • i think he needs to speed up so that it will sound better..

  • i think he needs to get the chewing gum out of his piano first. lol

  • The only part i can't play is the rhythmic part you know the part that sounds like a typewriter!1 Is there some page that teaches you this part?

  • im learning the piece at the moment. it is truly a work of art. You are very talented, but i suggest to put a wee bit more soul.. and if you add that . then WHAM!!! you got it! Thanks for Entertaining me =]

You're video is going into my playlist

  • "It's george Gershwin!" 0.16 :P hehe

  • erm, just because he wasn't writhing to the music doesn't mean it was doen without feeling. poeple feel in different ways. the movement of the music could've been a little more natural though; it sounded way too rehearsed.

  • what are you talking about, this was an AWFUL interpretation... was he under a time limit? no feeling whatsoever

  • I agree 100%. Are you people who think it's good joking or tone deaf?

  • look everyone, when i want to hear gershwin's rhapsody in blue on youtube, this guy's performance is NOT representative of the original composition or performance; therefore, it is subpar and shouldn't be celebrated as anything more than that. all of you need to grow a pair of decent ears...

  • very good interpretation !

  • haha, a lot of chords are used but usually like a B major, e flat diminished 7th, e major and such in the begining. just so you know. since it is in the key of B flat in the begining the most of the chords are based on the first and fifth, in this case b flat and e flat

  • what chords are used in the left hand in this piece- I'm trying to learn it by ear.

  • good luck. this one's pretty tricky, i strongly recommend you finding music to read.

are you gonna learn the solo piano or the concerto version?

  • Messy bits here and there when it seemed you were rushing. Otherwise a very enjyable performance.Keep playing!

  • I don't know how much practice you do a day, but this piece could take up to a week to practice (if you are working on other pieces too) and gradually build up speed until one is ready to express pure passion with mastery of control. It might take less time depending on how much you practice. I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you have any questions or if you want to know more about technique, fingering etc.

  • I'm 19, and i go to school not for music, i rarely play piano lately maybe once or twice a week so really all the piano stuff i do is for my enjoyment. and somehow rhapsody in blue squeaked out

  • Ha, that's a simple way of putting it.

Don't be so modest, it marched out like the Thanksgiving Parade.

  • You might find that the only speed you can do like that is REALLY slow. Don't worry about a thing. You are setting for yourself a fine foundation not only for this piece, but also the way you practice other pieces (and the technique you will have aquired through practicing this piece).

  • Even though there are parts you can pull around once you have mastered what has been written, they will make more sense if your foundation is what is actually on the page. In other words, you will feel the same when you play rubato, but it will sound much clearer to the audience.

  • For what its worth: Now, get the whole thing at a slow speed (that you can manage every note without making a mistake from start to finish) with the metronome. Then you will understand the rhythm completely (you might be surprised how much working out this will take even though you can play the whole thing - been there).

  • Good work! How old are you? How long have you been playing? I can see what you want to do, and in many ways, you are getting it.

  • The tempo could be better at some points, but other than that, bravo!

  • i have never attempted this piece but it sounds very well done, the ped is good but sometimes a piece doesnt need a buildup, the theme sometimes just need to be by its self to sound good. i dont know this piece in and out but i think im going to try this one next but im now a fan of yours bravo!

  • Hi. I have just recently released my recording on here of Rhapsody in Blue. I am self taught so probably have a few bad habits. Everyone has a different personality on it this one hey?! And what a dickens of a piece, I might need to re-record mine when I had to edit out a telephone call during part 2... Anyhow keep the practice up and great work

  • You hit every write note. However, you rush the tempo at some parts. Also, lay off the petals. Finally, do some experimentation to optimize your audio quality. If it means setting up your camera right next to you showing only your fingers, so be it.

  • would some1 help me find the sheets of it? plz

  • sometimes I can't understand what he is playing. Sometimes is not so clean!

  • Hmm I don't care what anyone says you are amazing. I would love to just be able to play this piece as well as you. It's my absolute favorite after hearing it on Disney's Fantasia 2000.. You Rock!

  • Oh godddd...nothing but botching from A-Z - so many grammatical mistakes... and to hide/cover this you're abusing pedals horribly! Exercise!Exercise!Exercise! Talent??? Where?! Listen to prof. versions! Can absolutely not comprehend the other comments!?! Freaks? Your friends? Sorry!

  • You didn't do the end? I was really disappointed that you omitted the fast part where both hands switched on and off a single note. Well, anyway, good job on performing both the orchestral and piano parts! You should really try it out with an orchestra =D

  • You didn't do the end?!?! LOL, theres a second part...

  • bring out the jazz pianist in you!

  • this IS NOT jazz. yes its BASED on blues sounds but its not jazz

  • Great interpretation, but it mainly felt classical. Be sure to keep some of the jazzy feel in there, too, like Gershwin intended. Also, you may have used too much pedal. Or it could have been the audio quality, I don't know. Overall, wonderful.

  • Hey, I liked the way you recorded this. Your rhythm is nice...

  • GOD, you are absolutely lovely!!!

  • absolutely amazing!! =D)

    -Jess

  • what happened at around 1:00 and 1:15? maybe it was the video camera, but i didn't hear enough melody. use less pedal?

  • Very impressive. Especially at 4:45 and on.

  • I'm learning piano. Hope with time I will be able to play this beautifull nice composition. Those videos performances works a incentive for us, thanks for post it.

  • Hello!

For amateur -- its very good played. For professional pianist...you have to work more...to play etudes by chopin, liszt, to make your fingers stronger. And try to be more clean to play on the piano. Best wishes

  • FANTÁSTICO!!!!!!!!

  • God I love this piece..

  • Wow, someone is posting the entire piano solo. I am not sure I have seen it posted on here yet. You certainly have some interesting interpretations. Your speed varies quite a bit, but it makes for an interesting listen because its quite a bit different than other versions I have heard. You hit quite a few wrong notes but I am not sure that people that don't know the piece as well will even notice. Great work, I am off to listen to part 2

  • Anytime is good for Rhapsody in Blue. Nice. Can't wait for part two. : )
