  • Thanks..Pulled the trigger and got a Hero2 (HumbleOutdoors w/free 16GB SD card). I love this rugged little cam. Thanks again!

  • 0:44 helikopter z JP :D

  • hows the audio???

  • If I buy it will it looks so clean?

  • one more thing!, whats the price huh! :=

  • Best review yet, thank you! i bought the hd hero to as an upgrade to my hd 960. I was worried incase it wouldnt be a noticeable difference. Just one question thought. Does the HD Hero 2 do anything inside (hardware/software) to reduce vibrations? im into kart racing but when i stick the camera onto a home made mount or the side pods, The vibrations reduce the quality and ruin the video. Thanks

    Marc

  • Watched both, and the whole write up. you said a lot and left out some. it is a great cam, just a big decision to spend all those clams. placing on a rc plane and flying I deffently sell some stuff to get the cam, otherwise I will keep viewing, and say thank you for hte review. the GoPro One shown a deffenit tome with the facial of hte bungy jump the gopro2 did not.

  • What are the settings you use regularly on your gopro? Also what is your main editing software? or what editing software would you reccomend for a begginer? p.s I have a pc

  • @laxlovesnowboard I used Premiere Elements to edit this video.

  • @cameralabs thanks!

  • What editing software allows you to place two videos side by side?

  • @heikki722 I used Premiere Elements for this video, but most editing software should let you put one video on top of another, and then shrink and move them until they're side by side.

  • New Zealand!!!!

  • i hate the new like sound when you like a comment on youtube...

  • Good review, but tbh i did feel slightly awkward looking out from the guys crotch area at 4:16

    haha

  • Great review! I may consider upgrading now. Also, do you know where I can purchase the pole attachment? There aren't any on the GoPro website.

  • hard to select between the Contour and this.. Only up I can see for the contour is the bluetooth to android app with no extra hardware.

  • When's the next installment for this review

  • @DeadSnowRC It's always been available at the link below the video.

  • 8:01, then they started playing GTA.

  • Question to the users of this - does the "fisheye" effect come with the base lens or is that something separate? Thanks...

  • @xlr8shn The fisheye effect ois built-in - the lens really is that wide.

  • @cameralabs

Thanks! You don't HAVE to use that wide of a field of view though, right? So it looks "normal"?

  • @xlr8shn The Hero 2 does offer two optional video modes which crop in for a 'tighter' but still quite wide view, but in my tests the video quality became noisier. See my review at cameralabs . com for examples - there's a link below the video here.

  • Ima get 1! NZ Rep!!!

  • @baldwinjackson41 Sure can aslong as you have vista or higher. You can use any program really, windows movie maker, sony vegas, adobe after effects and so on. You will need a reasonably good video card/computer to playback the 60fps vids smoothly.

  • Supposed to have mine soon. So excited!

  • that boat ride looks nuts

  • Do any of these small cameras (GoPros, Drift Innovation etc) have adjustable shutter-speeds? -Keen to get around the choppy/warped propeller effect you get with these high shutter-speeds

  • Thanks for this video

  • LOVE IT!!!

  • Weird cuz my go pro hd 1 can film in 16:9 1080p...

  • @TheIllestNation Yep, the HD Hero 1 can film 1080p, BUT it's not as wide as the 1080p on the Hero 2.

  • @cameralabs Ohhh Okay now i see! Thanks for the quick response :)

  • @cameralabs oh yeah~ 90, 127 and 170 degrees field of vision woot!

  • @cameralabs is the gopro HD hero 2 worth the 350 euro?

  • @afrocakebomb F*** YEAH!

  • @cameralabs do you mean the recorded video is not as wide or the FOV

  • @hyper080 Both the Hero 1 and Hero 2 share thew same maximum field of view, BUT the Hero 2 lets you record it with higher resolution 1080 video. With the Hero 1 you have to choose between the maximum field of view with a lower resolution, or maximum resolution with a narrower field of view.

  • Wow... Next ticket to New Zealand please! Btw how heavy is ur bike? Looked like a long trail, I want to see if I can complete such a distance on my bike.. (I don't have 5k to spend on a light weight mt bike lol)

  • Hey guys I made new channel called GoProVidsEveryWeek and I'm just trying to get into the whole Youtube thing! If you guys can please check out my channel and tell me what you think that would be awesome! Thank you so much.

    -GoProVidsEveryWeek

  • @GoProVidsEveryWeek lol noob

  • @ThemeParkPOVs lol shutup

  • For me the biggest improvement is the dynamic range. Should make it even better for color correction :D

  • queenstown :O go to gorge road jump!!!!!!!!

  • how long can you shoot video for

  • Ahhh that angle of the bike going downhill gave me such a headache. Fantastic review though!

  • @cameralabs thanks, i was hoping you would put it on youtube because i couldn't view it on my ipad before but i can now

  • Wheres the second part of this review?

  • @bmxbarn15 Click the link below the video window above and you'll be taken to it and the entire review...

  • Thank you for helping me make up my mind!

  • What settings do you have on you GoPro? Here is a video I made and the quality is horrible compared to the Hero2 video's i have seen. /watch?v=60LMoUCkuFY Also I just bought it so i am kind of new but when i turn my go pro on it seems to always go to the picture mode, how do i change it to go to video but not record? Thanks!!

  • The rolling shutter has been improved tremendously :D

  • The best setting is still 720p - 60 FPS

  • Damn this was awesome!!!

  • dont u love it when u want to watch the video but the fucken pre-video add is taking dumbass lonng to buffer? Like really, we're just gonna skip your shit anyway, we dont care. we didnt click on this video to watch YOUR shit, get the fuck outta the way. Man i miss the old days of youtube before all the adds. but then again most of it wasnt HD...

  • with which mount you have mounted the camera into the helicopter (sorry for my english), and what pack is this (Motrosport, outdoor)? thanks

  • @PLKamil123 We tested the outdoor edition, but actually had the camera mounted on a bike which was hanging from the helicopter! So it wasn't attached to the helicopter itself!

  • @cameralabs thanks a lot

    Greets from Poland

  • @PLKamil123

I thought I'd give my input..I've filmed using the hero 1 attached to a helicopter using the suction cup...it held great..but, too much vibration and jello Fx...

    cheers

  • @rzwilli

an extra reminder! use the anti-fog insert ! they will fog during flight!

  • Well Done Mr. Laing! I watched your reviews while looking for a DSLR a few years ago really appreciate the time you put in!!

  • When will part 2 be up?

  • @Paps1984 Part 2 has been ready to watch for weeks! At the end of the video there's a message which says you can watch part 2 at cameralabs . com - there's a direct link under the video above.

  • @cameralabs Oh thank you :)

  • Just wondering. IM going to new zealand soon, and i have a go pro hd hero2. how did you film the jetboat ride? was it mounted on the boat? or do you think its possible to hold onto the camera while filming on the boat?

    cheers

  • @Fuzzman109 We had special permission to professionally mount it on the boat itself for the review, but they wouldn't normally let you take a camera on the boat.

  • @cameralabs ok, thanks for your quick reply. Im glad I know this now instead of when I get there haha. Thanks

  • Fantastic review - on to part 2 (ooh, I'm a poet!)...

  • Thanks for the review.

Accually, I'm not interested in such kind of cameras, but it is always pleasure to see so great reviews.

    Good luck.

  • Gorgeous bike mate, would love a Scalp

  • I like how he use maxis high rollers same as me :)

  • this is amazing, it makes me want to move to new zealand. great review by the way.

  • This is an amazing review. I wish more reviewers were this thorough.

  • @therandygoat Thanks! Make sure you visit cameralabs . com to see part 2 and all the results and sample images / movies!

  • @cameralabs Oh, I have ;) Thanks for making it.

  • Does it come with the wi-fi back pack?

  • @DIRTproject no, that's an optional extra that's not out yet. Should be out early 2012.

  • @cameralabs Oh cool amazing reveiw by the way :)

  • @cameralabs I really liked this review, good job :)

n I would like to know if there is any more affordable models of these kind of cameras in terms of price for aerial photography purposes?

  • @msscitizen Thanks! There's always the previous model, the HD Hero 1...

  • @cameralabs Thanks! .. Since I'm just a newbie in it and don't have a significant idea about it, do you recommend any other brands?

  • 4:19 balls view :P

  • So awesome! CameraLabs helped me pick out my canon t2i =)

  • We missed you and your reviews:)

  • Nice review BUT you really have to show us 60fps on 720 guys, that must be one of the most used options

  • @JazzFiveO You're right! I'm planning a follow-up and will definitely include some 720/60p footage.

  • @cameralabs look forward to it, thanks!

  • i love queens town my fay place in nz too bad its 6 hours away

  • this video screams... go NZ!!! Again top work from you Gordon and staff! saludos buddy!

  • hey gordon, i wanna ask something. on some of the point and shoot cameras and ive seen the same on the big flashes too... the flash lights up 2 times. not like single short flash... but 2 short flashes like a milisecond one after another... i cant understand why is that double flashing?

  • @hristijank2 Hmm, that's a bit off-topic on a review of the GoPro, but I'll answer anyway! The double or multiple pre-flash is to try and minimise red-eye by shrinking the pupil prior to the main flash.

  • @cameralabs im sorry for the off topic, i just didnt know who else to ask. thank you very much, i apretiate it. respect you :)

  • @cameralabs And I think its also if the person blinks the 1st time, the person wont have enough time to readjust so they don't blink the 2nd time.

  • great video. thankyou.

  • We've missed your videos!

  • U should really make playlistism to sort ur videos on YouTube but I guess u want people to go to ur site

  • also i was wondering, does it come with some sort of video edditing system? or do i have to buy one? or are there some free ones that are good? i really like your vids! i checked out your website also! way cool! i would love to see more reviews on youtube :)

  • @Mattmillerhahaha No it doesn't come with video editing software. I normally use Premiere Pro, but this video was actually edited using the much more affordable Premiere Elements. I'd recommend it.

  • you forgot apart part 2 of the Nikon D7000

  • @unknownsilant Part 2, 3 and 4 of my D7000 review have always been where I said they were at the end of part 1! You can find them all at cameralabs . com and there's a direct link under the D7000 part 1 video.

  • thats awesome!!! thanks so much!!

  • just got mine 5 minutes ago from amazon!

  • HEY! GREAT VIDEO, im looking into buying a hero2 as well but i have a question. Im going to be using this more as a camera for daily use to record me and my friends doing whatever. its perfect because of its size and waterproof case but how is the audio??? with the case i know it stinks but how is it without?? this is the only thing holding me back. I want to be able to pick up voices and sounds anywhere from very close to across a room or even futher. PLZ RESPOND! THANKS

  • @peecuzzi The audio isn't great on it. You can connect an external mic, but you have to take it out the case first, so you lose the weatherproofing and mounting options. I wouldn't use it as a day to day video camera if you need decent audio captured. You could of course record the audio with something else and sync it though.

  • how many cameras did u attach to yourself?!

  • you're back! :D

  • @GizmoBitz I never went away! I publish a new review every week at cameralabs . com!

  • @cameralabs Oh. I'll check that out. It's just a while since you've posted a video on this channel. :P

  • It never fails, there is always that one tool on Youtube that just has to give any video a dislike. Camera Labs consistently has the best photography videos on Youtube and it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to see how much works goes into them. Great job guys!

  • @Pro1er Thanks! They do involve a lot of work which is why I can't do as many as I'd like, but I still try and publish a new camera review every week at cameralabs if you're looking for something specific. This video was a departure in many respects from my previous reviews, but hopefully you all like it! (Apart from that one dislike anyway!)

  • holy balls that boat ride looked INTENSE

  • Awesome video! It made me really want to get a GoPro camera... But what it REALLY made me want is to move to New Zealand!!

  • that was an amazing review!! I already ordered mine =)

    cant wait!

  • @TXSTEPHENTX Thanks! Don't forget you can support me by going through the GoPro store advert on my review at cameralabs!

  • why does it look like GoPro 1 has more natural color? GoPro 2 looks way high contrast which I don't like.

  • Great to see a new review vid, thanks!

  • I am awaiting my Go Pro Hero 2 (Motorsport edition). I can't wait to start shooting with it after seeing your review and clips! It's just awesome!

  • @cameralabs dude where you been all this time? just love your reviews!!! we need a lot more :D wish you guys post videos more often.

  • @coolave007 Thanks! The reviews take absolutely ages to put together, so I don't have time to do many. I am however reviewing at least one new camera a week at cameralabs . com, so please do check them out!

  • cooool

what about the wind sound did they improve it coz we got gopro 1 and after 5km all we can hear the wind and car engine sound vanished

    thanks

  • cool video :-)

  • dude! we miss you!

  • Can I turn the image in the settingsmenu when mounted upside down?

  • Hi Gordon,

bin always a huge fan of yours.

I'm using the vio pov hd now and considering to step over to the hero 2 because the pov doesn't recognize the cam-head after a while.

Already got it replaced four times now in 10 months.

I wonder if the image-quality will be the same as the vio pov HD.

  • it is shaky

  • I like the reviews much more with music. Leave it like that!

  • YOU'RE BACK!!!! best camera reviewer everrrrrrrrr. Missed you. For real.

  • will still be enjoying my go pro 1 with 60fps 720p, for most tv's, the small difference between 720p and 1080p won't be noticeable

  • @xWhiteoutProductions I agree on the resolution for smaller TVs, but there's no doubt the Hero 2 footage is sharper and more saturated, and that it's less noisy and responds more quickly to exposure changes. It's not just about having 170 degrees at 1080p.

  • @cameralabs i do alot of colour correction in post tho so wouldn't the extra saturation make that harder for me? im just not that excited about the go pro 2, when we can have 120 fps at 720p and 60 at 1080p i'll be excited, cannot stand 30fps footage, it looks alot better in 60 when the camera's moving about.

  • I have absolutely no intrest in this product but i am very excited to see you guys making new videos. Woot!

  • Excellent Gordon.

  • this just made me wanna move to new zeland.......

  • The music spoilt the video

  • @Maxsdiscos i agree. yo CAMERALABS send me the footage i'll edit you together a better more viral version with some legit music.

  • @byrdo444 out of curiousity, what style of music / artist would you think would work well with this footage? bearing in mind I'd need permission to use it on a commercial video.

  • @cameralabs Something without lyrics for sure. Something moderately fast, possibly electronic. I got tons of friends who make sick music I always use for stuff. Check out some of my videos

  • @cameralabs Hi Gordon, That wasn't supposed to be a negative comment. Infact I am a member of the forum, but I just feel sometimes that music over videos spoils them. I think I would prefer to hear just the ambient noise from the cameras, with possibly a narration, and maybe some mellower music, something more relaxing. Regards. Max.

  • @Maxsdiscos I thought this might polarise opinions. This is actually the first time I have used music in any of my videos on Youtube. Part of the problem is using music with permission on a commercial video - I can't just put anything on there. We know the artists used on this video and got permission to use their music. I actually think it works well, and is also typical of the genre you'll hear on this kind of footage. Out of curiousity, what style or artist would you prefer?

  • @cameralabs I liked the choice of music. I think for this kind of video it need to be something faster, like rock, but not too fast or too loud so you can't focus on video content. I liked it.

  • So glad to see this review from you, as you are so proffesional in this!

Thank you for thie great review!

  • Welcome back

  • Looks good

  • Finally

  • Nice to see you back....

  • Hey, now that you're back you should review more lenses :P

  • long time no see gord, nice yr back

  • Awesome to see CameraLabs back! :)

  • Great to have you back!

  • That downhill biking was mental :O

  • Welcome back! You should have done some adrenaline activities to Gordon :)

  • @YmePt Hmmm, I'll do the jetboating and zip trek, but if I'd done the mountain biking, I'd have had to speed up the footage by about four times! Scott was the right man for this job!

  • finally, glad to see you again

  • Glad to see you again!
