hey larry, you really ought to consider using the product called "anti-creo-soot". it's a spray compound you spray on the walls of your stove. i used it this past season and even though i burned a batch or two of wood that wasn't fully seasoned, my flue was almost creosote free (tiny flakes, here and there). i'm not affiliated with the company, but what a night and day difference it makes come sweeping time. my top cap looked almost new and the flue was barely charred
