  • THIS GUY SUCKS! The most overrated drummer ever!

  • @minstrel34 YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! He is one of the greatest drummers that ever lived. PERIOD. Most people agree

  • Comment removed

  • @minstrel34 Let me guess your a travis barker fan right?

  • I tried pressing 'enter' DAMN YOU YOUTUBE!

  • I think his hair was a motief that was near and dear to his heart. Now his motief is a Nelson Mandellow African tribal canabis smoking what the hell kind of hat. But the old man can still play.

  • May I ask something, whats up with the hat? just curious

  • @brianmadmaxsy

    He's losing his hair

  • @IchiTrois oh... Should he wear that hat frequently? hahaha

  • tom hanks rul... i mean.. neil rules!

  • as i am by dream theater at the begining LOL

  • To all you ADHD morons that want him to just play and not speak...shove it sideways! There is a zen to drumming that he is trying to enlighten you fools to. An obvious waste of time. Hey, tune into a Tommy Lee/ Motley Crue video. You can learn to spin your sticks really good! Much more your level.

  • @TheDrumgod66 Well said, instead of learning they talk garbage. Their loss

  • lol the drum set is moving and he's not even playing it

  • I have both his Anatomy, and Work in Progress DVDs. I love to watch them, and hear his philosophies on playing. The funny thing is, I play guitar! I'm just a great fan.

  • He's as much of a Master with words and concepts as he is with drumming. He's a great writer and been through alot of pain in his life. A great bloke all round.

  • @selatik1 yeah sure but not from him, I'd rather watch Peart play and for instance Bruford talk.

  • Great to hear approach and interaction of his ideas. Heard them first in74,...saw live in 76. Great sound! "Moonish" but more like a Chess Game to work through a song. Triplets and Dbl bass drum tripelts make complete sense and get us to Moving Pictures. Tommy Aldrige with Pat Travers is very true as I followed him through the late 70's Nice video!

  • Since 1982 I didnt even know where this was all going. Thanks Neil. My other hero is the other Neil (Neil Armstrong) from the old Apollo days.

  • OK, SO, Neil is my all time greatest hero, since I was 11 and saw Farewells to Kings tour, but GAWD if a picture says a thousand words, his mouth is a million photo albums. Jeez, is there ANY 2 second thought of his that he can't put into a 9 minute analytic monologue? Is there an instinctual bone in his body, or does he really have to speak every single character and beat??? Ok, I'm done. Go Neil, I own 4 of your GOT PEART shirts and all of your DVD's, I just turn the sound off when you speak..

  • He's not human, He's god

  • When a master speaks, the playing is secondary. Speak master, speak!

  • Less talkey, more playey...

  • Media Offline NeilPeart... Final Cut Pro FTW!

Wish I was getting to edit Neil's videos at work....

  • 29 dislikes can go fuck them selves!..........FUCK OFF COCK SUCKERS!

  • I think he was cloned from Ray Manzarek.

  • @drummer4theperish lol.....

  • amazing simply amazing....he is a drumming God......and the reason I play drums!!!!

  • you have selected microsoft sam as your default voice..

  • I can't tell if the video was lagging or he was just really fast :/

  • 1:18 he is not human,search for davidicke,he may be a reptilian

  • A real live renassiance man....

  • the professor is a genious

  • The beginning is As I Am right?

  • 2:00 Old Man From The 1850's o3o

  • 4:00 Sorry :I

  • 4:05 Old Man From The 1850's o3o

  • @bdog01100 030

  • If you've read any of his books, you'll find that he's a very well-read man.

  • I kept pressing 'enter' but I couldn't get it into fullscreen...

  • He gets up to leave.

"Er ... my way appears to be blocked by drums. How the - how the hell do I get out of here".

  • This man is a drumming God.

  • Buddy Rich with compassion.

  • that was honestly one of the worst solos i've ever heard. and i cant wait to see your replies. come at me.

  • Not even. 1/10, poor Australian attempt at trolling.

  • @Fraietor im not trolling, i seriously think he is one of the most overrated drummers there are...

  • @muso123456

Your point is entirely vacuous unless you explain why you think that. So far, you've accomplished nothing.

  • @muso123456 Really?

I think you're a moron. Fortunate for both of us opinions are like arseholes.

  • @muso123456 dude that wasnt a solo he was just showing off the double bass pedal thing he was talkin about go look up one of his solos.

  • ? Many, MANY drummers better than the Professor? I MIGHT be able to name 2 or 3... but let's hear them in 40 years or so. Peart is the yardstick to which drummers are measured IMO.

  • NICE GUY, BUT WAY OVER-RATED AS A DRUMMER. MANY, MANY DRUMMERS OUT THERE BETTER THAN HIM

  • @gmd1417 a drummer that can keep a beat and is functional is a good drummer. a drummer that has an identifiable style is a great drummer. at that point, there is no heirarchy anymore, they're just different. as a great drummer, Peart is "rated" correctly.

  • @gmd1417 No, that's just not true. Today lot's of post-punk/new-prog drummers push the boundaries of technicality, but music should always be observed relative to the time. Bach invented tonality. Today, we take that for granted. An Arnold Schoenberg fan might consider Bach irrelevant, but then they don't truly understand what they've been listening to. Schoenberg listened to Bach. John Coltrane listened to Charlie Parker. Chris Tgalkis listened to Neil Peart.

  • @gmd1417 Lol your a fucking idiot man. Music isn't about competition, Pearts a great drummer. Hes "over rated" because a lot of people like his style of playing thats all

  • Kevin Spacey could totally play him in a film.

  • @RhysyTomTom

Have you ever noticed how the two have never been in the same place at the same time?

  • @RhysyTomTom i think tom hanks can do a better job

  • @RhysyTomTom jesus fucking christ that's who he reminds me of

  • @RhysyTomTom read your comment looked up and saw kevin spacey for a second then back to neil woah. and i agree

  • @RhysyTomTom For if nothing else his voice!

  • he sounds so serious when he says "or worse, affecting the music"

  • As I am, no inicio do vídeo... quem percebeu curte.

  • "There are no mistakes, just new parts." I love it.

  • THE PROFFESSOR

  • Haha FCP6 Forgot to render somethin

  • Neil Peart is clearly out of fucks to give

  • @billyball2 an elaboration is in order...

  • Neil Peart could bang garbage cans with drumsticks whilst reciting the phonebook and I'd still listen to every word. :D

  • He sound's like my Girlfriend's father, soothing voice, smart, calm, and he's also a great drummer and a great guy.

  • Tom Hanks on drums!

  • He's a great drummer, but not so great at Final Cut Pro.

  • He is like the Gandalf of the drums, I would believe in every word he says.

  • @ShortyThePitcher

when he dies drumming, he'll come back as Peart the White.

  • @ShortyThePitcher im not sure bout that comparison. i mean hes cool and all, but he aint no neil peart

  • @ShortyThePitcher He's like the uncontrolled mouth of the drums.

  • Here's to you neil peart, May your past wife and past daughter selena rest in peace, i know thi is old news, but everyone in the world is here for you. Everyone

  • the phd of drummres no one can touch him

  • is he jewish??

  • Just listening to him explain this made my head explode..............

    He is amazing!

  • nobody but neil peart could imply i time signature through playing drums he truly is the best best drummer on the planet and no the universe

  • AWESOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeee

  • Wow!! He's very articulate, he has a radio announcer voice.

  • His voice is damn sexy, he should do more commentary

  • I just go into a place that I call... BEYOND TIME!!!

  • He's so intelligent. way beyond a drummer! and Of course his lyrics are fantastic, 2nd to none!

    thanks for sharing. :-)

  • He has such smooth and amazing foot work. He makes it look absolutely effortless.

  • I enjoyed the note on playing jazz. Sort of the "I have trouble explaining it, but I know what it is when I play it." What a great video.

  • He used to be a calm guy who didn't like to be filmed until recently and well thumbs up if Neil Is the best drummer ever

  • I've always found it odd that someone as well read and literate as Peart is the member of the band that hates interviews. When all three of them are together he usually ends up doing most of the talking, and he does it so well as is evident in this video. He does seem to be coming out of his shell more these days. Maybe he's getting comfortable with it now.

  • You sure can tell he is a lyricist! Some people have a way with words and others, well,Not have way.

  • @semiLivedj LMAO.... [in the voice of Ralph Wiggum] 'Me fail English? That's unpossible'

  • @semiLivedj Like you.

  • @ILikeTrains6923 Moron

  • @semiLivedj Hypocrite.

  • @ILikeTransexuals6923 Goofdick.

  • @ILikeTransexuals6923 Goofdick.

  • @semiLivedj You like trans-sexuals? I'm not one to discriminate, but what ever floats your boat.

  • @ILikeTrains6923 What are you,12.

  • @semiLivedj Hate the game not the player! (NoFX is so awesome)

  • @semiLivedj LOL thine comedy be not pretty, ye wearer of the cruel shoes

  • @semiLivedj Steve!

  • @damnbigfish The one and only.Famous words of Mr.Martin.

  • Corky Lainge with Leslie West is much more entertaining and full of energy, this guy is borrrrring! Corky places drums with energy and clarity, this guy is to self important. BORING! And he doesn't need all these drums, what a tool! the Beatles with Ringo had 3 drums, so did Elvis! This guy is a TOOL!

  • @cengeb Troll? Old school hater? I'm not sure. Ringo was a boring drummer; possibly the luckiest man in the world. Neil Peart is humble and far from self-important, he shuns fame. You don't have to love it, but there's nothing wrong with teaching what you know, and he's just doing that.

  • @Noxshus Ringo was chosen because he was not better looking that Paul. Pete Best was apparently better looking, so he got the boot.

  • @cengeb You are a misguided fool

  • @cengeb Then go watch a Corky Lainge or Ringo Star instructional video. It should only take you 20 or 30 seconds because that is about all they could teach you.

  • @cengeb tool is a good band too.

  • he's as boring as a drummer also. What a tool. Has ZERO Charisma, I have seen em twice live and it's not impressive, over complicated chaos. I just don't get it.

  • @cengeb Welcome to the [wait for it...] free market.

  • @cengeb fuck off

  • he sounds like he still smokes

  • why does he wear that gay hat? it's so damn pretentious. yes, you're a great drummer neil, no you're not an african god

  • @cbarrett34 The hat is used to keep the sweat out of his eyes. Much like how many drummers wear head bands. He just chose to wear the african hats.

  • good story bro

  • i bet that if it wads a random person talking, no one would wach this vid

  • i wanna hear alex lifeson nd geddy lee talk 2

  • awsomest drummer ever!! omfg!

  • What can you say about Peart that's not already been said, he plays the Drums really good?

  • he is so smart

  • I love listening to him talk almost as much as listening to him play the drums

  • @rhbcweatherdude Thats convenient for you, because he takes through 95% of this video

  • @rhbcweatherdude I agree, he has a total "radio" voice.

  • @GeneralMillss NPR voice. "This is Neil Peart with All Things Considered. Buzz buzz buzz."

  • haha final cut fail 'media offline;

  • are all hudson music's videos intros the As I Am intro from DT?

  • All those drums, and he doesn't get confused of which one to hit?!

    Peart is so beast.

  • Best and sexiest drummer.

  • He improvises a part of the drum solo?

    HOLY SHIT!

  • BLABLABLABLABLABLA :(((

  • I saw Stevie Wonder do a drum solo when he was a kid.. You ought to check it out.. He wasnt too shabby himself.. Blew my mind..

  • Neil Peart's earliest influence was Keith Moon.. Guy's all these drummers are awesome.. When you say who is the best in your opinions.. Its in the style that YOU prefer.. If you like Jazz, Buddy Rich is probably your fav.. Rock.. Depends on your fav group.. Don't knock each other's opinions.. Pick your fav style and run with it..

  • @michaelriser1 keith moon didn't use a high hat

  • Neil shouldve been my father

  • he hit shit with sticks

  • @MrAbsorbingman Of course I know who Mike Portnoy is I saw Dream Theatre live opening for Iron Maiden in Denver a couple months before he left Dream Theatre.

  • @MrAbsorbingman I don't listen to a whole lot of Slipknot but Joey is a good drummer. Never hear of Pete or Andrea :P

  • guys...Neil Pert, Travis Barker, and Tommy Lee are THEEE best drummers on the planet, Neil Pert is the best tho

  • @333NOFX no

  • @333NOFX cool story bro :) btw. do you knwo joey jordison? mike portnoy? pete sandoval? andrea vadrucci? and i can go on and name more great drummers. but naming only 3 and saying they are the best drummers. clearly you dont listen to all genres of music that use drums :) (i dont know any great jazz drummers. i dont know their names sorry XP

    )

  • An actual STARGATE/PORTAL-THING was caught on film in New Mexico. The footage can be found within the short-film entitled "SUDDEN PORTHOLE", which is parked at the PROJECT CAMELOT YouTube page (it's under the George Noory video).

I'm not selling anything…I'm just trying to spread the word about the unseen-dimensions we find ourselves embedded in.

My BLOG contains peripheral data regarding the movie and is where I reply to the "debunkers" (use search words "SAM ZURICK" & "BLOG"). THANKS!!

  • I can't believe there is any room to explain, I thought what he did didn't need an explanation.

  • Wow! I never knew Tom Hanks was so good at drummng!

  • @krischrissirkris Neil Peart does not look like Tom Hanks, Tom Hanks looks like Neil Peart.

  • @LeonSKennedy656

they kinda look like eachother a bit

  • @whitbyjet65 you're joking right??

  • God had a great plan, he wanted to come down to Earth, play drums, his favorite instrument, and he came up with a great name... Neil Peart, so in the end, people still praise him haha

  • Media offline?.... cuz it's Peart, bitch.

  • Hello, this man is quite good at drums. Maybe one day he will gain famous for himself. It is a shame when people like this just play at home for youtube.

  • @whitbyjet65 lol wut?

  • what was the lesson?

  • Have no Idea what the crap you just said Neil but your the man anyways!!!!

  • i like to imagine that neil peart and kevin spacey are brothers

  • FUCK ISLAM

  • in short..improvisation..lol..dont think..just let go and flow..

  • when did tom hanks start playing for rush

  • just play neil, just play.........i wish

  • Anyone know how he tunes his high toms to get that sound?

  • @TamaDrummer788 im pretty sure 'He' doesn't tune his toms.

  • Very irelevant observation, but the first 2 seconds sound exactly like the intro to As I Am by Dream Theater ^^

  • @Jenji6 or is it the final note from Losing Time - Grand Finale played backwards ?!?!?! :O

  • @xRagzzy :O we'll never know! *DT-nerd five* :D

  • @Jenji6 thats cause Mike for D.T is very influenced by Neil

  • Where is the first 9 seconds of this from?

  • @spiritualeggnog , Earth.

  • That's IT! all them drums and it sounds like any other drummer. What a joke.

  • @cengeb he's best drummer thats walked on this earth young sprout!!

  • @SpaceDetergentPM In your empty head....been around not so young. He is just over done and must like to be surrounded with stuff, he doesn't use half the stuff. Unnecessary flash, bogus. Keep it si,ple and pure. Somehow Elvis did it with one drum in the early years. Beatles Ringo had like 3 drums! Over done for no other reason than to be over done...hardly the "best" he is mechanical and souless. checkout Corky Laing drummer for Leslie West...simple pure and full of soul

  • What's wit da Alah hat?

  • @cengeb it's a pretentious thing, he thinks he's an African God

  • The stament from bigtarget is not only stupid but just plain hurtful. Any drummer that loses an arm and keeps playing in my book has balls. As far as Neil, He is and was one of the fastest drumers I have seen. I am a D.H. and have watched and played drums for 40 years now. Neil is very good and knowledgeable.
