@thomasjeeh thanks for your coment. This version of the guitar-sitar doesn't exist because it was imposible to tune and change the tuning (lydian, dorian, major, minor...) You can understand better on the slide show on the guitar-sarod. If you give me your @dress I can send you photos.
@beefheartwitch For the sympatetic strings...I don't remember, but there is some notes for the C Lydian scale and the C Major scale, I think. It's was a test so I played without thinking...;o) Thanks a lot for your interest.
The best version of "When the Saints come marching in" I have ever heard! The fact you modified an old guitar to sound so beautiful as it does is incredible. This is a true inspiration...
@hobojaboobala The sound is from the Sympathetic strings, which are the strings going across the body. they vibrate at the same frequency as one of the notes on the guitar and when that certain note is hit, it vibrates at the same time. i believe, i may be wrong
I think the cost was 60 € for the guitar 15 years ago , and the sitar bridge was 15 $ on e bay India, 60$ for the 18 tuning machines, a wood leaf to repair the head (5 $), a dremel to work on the fretboard, 30 $ for the es 335 tailpiece, the extra resonator was from my parent's garden and 18 strings.....some liters of coffee and some kilos of tobacco ;o))
Ick! What a huge, ugly monstrosity. It sounds wonderful of course, because you're such a brilliant player.
I put a buzzing bridge extension underneath the zither strings of my electric sitar. This gives a far more authentic sound. They still don't work well as 'sympathetic' strings for the most part, but are more useful overall. The same thing would work on your monster. Chickaree strings in place of the low E also work well.
excellent- best I've heard at copping the right sound. Makes me think of Bert jansch playing.

@LuccaTotti
This version of this instrument with sympathetic strings on the guitar doesn't exist.
For the last version I use 0.9 or 0.10 gauge.
