I miss that music. I remember all of that. The same voice over who was at WAGA channel 5 before it moved to fox. I'm also blind and I also know people at WSB.
Don left WSB in 1997... his son Justin is now co-anchoring 5, 6 & 11PM news. Chris Curle left about the same time too. John stepped down from evening news last December... he'll be seen on Family 2 Family specials that air on WSB every once in a while. Chuck stepped down from 6 & 11PM sports in late 2009... he's seen on Bulldogs Game Week show. Monica is still there, co-anchoring 4 & 6PM news... Oprah's show ending recently. Glenn's still there too. Such great memories.
An explanation about the picture quality. It isn't you fault. It's a weather condition know as "e-skip". Either a cool front or a high pressure system
over the southeast caused it during time of that recording. This always happens mostly on the (then) VHF-TV channels (2-13), on some UHF channels, and on the FM band. When it happens, you'll recieve other stations from miles away. This occurs mostly in the mornings and in early evenings during the spring thru summer months.
Monica Kaufman is one of the most respected newscasters in Atlanta. She started at WSB-TV in August 1975. She anchors Channel 2 Action News at 6:00 and Channel 2 Action News Nightbeat at 11:00 with her colleague for over 15 years, John Pruitt. Pruitt first worked for WSB but left WSB for rival WXIA in 1978 and stayed with WXIA for over 15 years before joining Monica at the Action News anchor desk again. Pruitt rejoined WSB-TV on Monday, July 4, 1994.
I rember that song. But when i started watching WSB it was later because I dont remeber the opening wich i love by the way. I live in alabama but i live really close to the georgia border so i used to be able to pick up WSB on my cable system but they left there coverage area in 01 and not long after that went got directv. I wished they could of got atlanta tv stations on there extened package instead of New York or LA. I miss WSB!!
@radudeATL Agreed. I could take the audio from 0:45 seconds to 1:05 and use it as a ringtone for my cell phone. Hookem2003 said it best - this theme rocks!
@deangelomywayentfan >> You must have headphones plugged in when you do the recording, like I do. But open the Sound Recorder program (if you have Microsoft Windows) under the Accessories menu under Start. Press Record and play the video while SR is recording. After editing the sound to your liking, you can then save the audio you've recorded to MP3 format, to which you can upload to various sites out there that will convert it to a downloadable cell phone ringtone free of charge.
I remember this newscast, because it was on July 4th, 1994. This is John Pruitt return to WSB for his third time after 15 years at WXIA. Also note WSB would broadcast The Salute 2 America Parade. Now in 2008 it will no longer broadcast the Parade after 45yrs. 14yrs later John and Monica still strong, and both about to retire soon! I love the music them!
I remember that around the same time John left WXIA not long after that we saw Johnny leave too. I am glad John has been back at WSB. I do wish Johnny was back on the air. He always made me laugh.
Damn! What happened to the tape at 0:13?

How did they both come around the anchor desk? Did they cross over during commercial break?

Where did Glenn have to sit or stand before his weather presentation?
fsgfdgfdgdgfdgbb 3 years ago
Glenn sat next to Monica, Chuck next to Don. All 4 on that tiny desk.

Was this from July 4, 1994? That would probably explain the female newsreaders' dress colors.
