OMG!! I remeber this song while on a rock in Southamerica...I was sad a bout a boyfriend..I must have been 15? what talent..then i moved to New Zealand to live and wow!! they were Kiwis...Lucky me to hear them all over again :)
the farewell performance provided by dankx75 is the best of all in the list. So clean. Neil? You did not look too happy or into this performance. It does not diminish the beauty of this work and your talent...just my observation. I miss you guys.
I believe some songs transcend their time, their genre, and sometimes even their original meaning. I feel this song fits into that description somewhere. Transcendent songs will forever strike a chord...especially the first time they are experienced.
Neil have been changing the guitar solo all over the years. I think it's fantastic, because he make variations but always keep the essence. I don't know if they're the best band, but they're songs moved me a lot. I hope i can see them live one day.
if you want to get technical, they ARE Australian, and as a plusm, they admitted it in Melbourne last last year, (Neil) "Melbourne.. aaaa our home town, it's a lovely place now, haven't been back in a while" (Nick) "Melbourne, you are our home town, hope you realise that"
sorry to dash your hopes...
just because they're fronted by a Kiwi, doesn't make them a Kiwi band.
Some Bands are remembered just for one song, but this it´s not something bad, this song is a beautiful song and is better be remembered for something beautiful than never be remembered for nothing, by the way, i love this song!
As they say the passage of time. I viewed from the start of Crowed House when this song first came out until their Earth Day performance in 2007. Great Song
Oy, sat here in Sweden the other side of the globe by computer, from sec. 1 when Sydney's set for Live Earth started. Sydney! All your different sign messages in audience cracked me up ! :-) and I followed the sun set with you, and I heard you! and when the lights went here for Crowded, t h a t was real musicians and audience in interplay! Sydney, You Were The Best!
I think it may have been because he was incredibly jet lagged, he'd just flown in from London if I remember... and I vaguely remember reading he was caught with a cold at the time?.... but I do agree
yeah... it's still good. but i saw them live recently, and the energy just isn't quite the same. t feels like something is just missing on some songs.
This is one of those songs that touches you soul in so many ways. I feel awesome everytime I listen to it. One of my all time favorites!!! Too bad I was a bit too young when it came out in the 80s.
He fooled a little in the guitar solo. Great song, great sound. But i think the best live perfomance of this song was at the 1996 farewell concert in Sydney.

they originally had ONE Kiwi, and TWO Aussies...
just to get technical :)

That's Neil for you, rarely are two solos the same with him.
When I saw the Crowdies live last year, Neil changed the Don't Dream It's Over solo soooo much, but it still sounded unbelievable!
