Always found his stuff thick with self pity and a juvenile disinterest in living in the world outside his navel, the kind of dime store adolescent despair you always hope your teenager will soon grow out of long enough to realize that, you know, other people actually exist and struggle. A very mechanical kind of narcissistic Sadness.
Eakea, i believe the instrument you are asking about is a melatron. Before digital sampling, it was an analog tape sampling keyboard. they had a tendency to break a lot though. you can kinda tell its a melatron, by the distinct growl of the instrument that really cant be reproduced in digital instruments. im pretty sure thats what it is.
@Eakea That particular instrument sounds like a Harmonium, an organ type instrument played by air being pumped into it with pedals. But the string sounds earlier in the song are probably made by using the mellotron. Some of this album was recorded at Abbey Road studios where the beatles recorded, and those instruments are there which the beatles famously used also
@Eakea Sounds like an accordian to me....Or could be an accordian sample on a keyboard. Whatever it is. I'm fairly sure its either an accordian or something built to mimic one

Does anybody know what instrument is playing the solo 2:19 - 2:29? An accordion?
