Tell me does the factory in which that test bed is located slowly drift right at full Ab or is it used to keep Californias techtonic plate from slipping into ocean?
how many engines do they have to test before they change the factory address?
I am guessing you point toward the back of the aircraft so it is a touch closer when it leaves! ;-). ha ha and how many stagnation stalls before you change your undies?

@Schutzstaffel23 can suck the air out of a 4 bedroom house every second. Each of those intake doors is about 13 ft high and 6-7 ft wide. 8 of them open during engine run and the air coming through each door is about 70-80 mph. Let's just say it's a LOT!!!!
@theducatiguy LOL holy shit. that is a lot. i highly underestimated it. although i shouldnt of because i think even car engines suck in more air in like a few hours than any human does in a lifetime. Thx for the feedback man.
Contrary to afterburner, this is actually called augmentor. Instead of burning hot gasses, new fuel is dumped into the back and an ingnitor plug ignites the fuel; more efficient than afterburner
It always amazes me with these test situations how the stand can actually hold on to the engine without it shooting away. Thats some serious strength.
simply afterburner is in an aircraft, the NOS for a car :) it is a sistem that can iniject fuel in the final part of the motor, causing a high acceleration and more more speed
yea. the afterburners dump raw jet fuel right into the exhaust gasses. the reason it ignites is because of the high exhaust gas temp creating the famous look
Before anything can get sucked in, something has to obstruct the airflow. a moth can fly in front of it and not get sucked in because it doesn't obstruct enough airflow.
I don't think you quite understand - the suction from jet engines is dramatically overrated. While in idle, an F-15 with its ramps down won't even suck up leaves.
At afterburner in a hushhouse while the engine is on a test stand (ie: the ramp isn't directing air flow), for it to suck on the hose from way over there is INTENSE.
Furthermore, hushhouses have pressure gauges to measure the difference so the thing doesn't implode, and an ABing F-15 can def. tip the scales on that.
I don't think you'd be able to actually touch the flame.. I would imagine the immense thrust would blow you away.. but if you did come into contact with it I'd guess you'd be cooked alive.. perhaps disintegrated to some degree.. instant ashes type of deal Lol.
I said the THRUST produced by the engine (ie exhaust) would blow you away if you stepped into the jet wash... I never said anything in reference to the flame from the afterburner. I said IF you were somehow able to touch the flame, which you can't because the thrust will blow you away, it would most definitely cook you almost instantly and coupled with the immense thrust you probably would be disintegrated, that is if you were up against a wall with a Jet engine in front of you with full a/b.

In the flame? it's roughly 1250 deg c!

You forgot the baffles that let air inside the house. The general area of those things is like a wind tunnel because of all the air coming in.
