  • where is the moire demo video?

  • 2 big,if i carry it around,

where can i put my groceries

  • talk sense or shut up

  • I wonder how final cut pro will work with this and the compresors to get a good result in HD format 16:9!. Can still see a lot of testing and results to be done first

  • It cooperates quite fine. It's only that mk2 picture has a huge compression issue - and it sort of posterizes picture in a way you can see on youtube sometimes. Of course in a much lower degree.

  • It's a great camera and the rsults are impressive but you have to think is the camera going to pay for it'self. An investment of around 2350 euros without a good lens and as we have a crisis on top of us, i think I will stay with my 50d and G9 for the moment!!.

  • I think the light posterization is a result of the powerful noise reduction. That being said, the low-light video is AMAZING because of it so I'm definitely not complaining.

  • It shoots like a HD camera for movies. Scary!! Is it better than Nikon's D700, which also shoots in full HD??

    Anyone can answer

  • it is way better than nikon's D700 for shooting videos, plus it has PCM stereo mic input.

The only complains is that it shoots 30fps (movies are 24fps) and video's time is limited to 4Gb due ( enough for a movie's scene anyways) oh and the sensor gets pretty hot on both cameras while shooting videos so you don't want the video to last more than 30 minutes.

  • the D700 doesn't even have a video mode! And you're buying a CAMERA here!

  • Can someone give me the link to where I can watch the video please? I tried looking on the Canon website but I'm totally lost.

  • look up vincent laforet its his video

  • This has degraded in to one of those 'Arguing on the internet is like....' statements. Special Olympics anyone?! As for PC, well we've all got to get our laughs somehow :)

  • ChrisTheKiwi - Animals don't count as friends, you do realise that, don't you?!

  • nice try, but you still look like an idiot. If it was 'so obviously fake'...why say it was fake in the first place? Oh, because that's what you think is funny?! Next you'll try and claim that you were being ironic. Murray, from Flight of the Conchords? NEXT!

  • haha, LOSER!

  • the full (real) video is at vincent laforet's blog now

  • egg on face!

  • Post it up as a torrent if its so in demand.....

  • Vincent Laforet has made the video himself so no way is it fake - why would he do that?!! Canon are going to host the video in the next 12 hours or so...

  • hahahahaha

  • I am completely speechless. I found sample videos of Canon's 5d Mark II on Canon's Korean site and I was amazed by the quality... but this... I just finished reading Vincent Laforet's blog and I can't believe my eyes. Beautiful. I really can't wait to have this camera in my hands. the price is a steal.

  • actually...it's not fake at all. that video is currently on its way to the internet in its true form. unfortunately, it's so big (and demand for it is so high) that finding a host willing to take the bandwidth has proven awfully difficult

  • That's the video Vincent L has yet to publish. Great scoop! Haha.

  • I want one!!!

  • That last scene - where the man's face goes from out of focus to sharp in a second - is precisely why the video feature is valid on the 5D Mark II. Camcorders, even good ones, can't produce such shallow depth of field; usually most stuff is sharp even when you don't want that.

    Yeah, I want one.

  • You aren't quite right on the DOF. Xl2 XlH1 both have depth of field without going to a 35mm lens adapter and both are video cameras. And both the XL2 and X1H1 have an auto function to pull off that trick. All automatically with focus or zoom. Nothing new there.

  • Sure the Xl2 has depth of field (obviously, so do the cheaper cams like the GL2), but it's nowhere near as deep as what you'll be able to achieve with this 5D Mark II. Firstly, the sensor in the Xl2 is smaller than 35mm size (it's full size in the 5D MII), and secondly, the lens aperture on the Xl2 isn't as large wide-open as in other EOS lenses you can stick onto the 5D.

  • nice nice

  • that's pretty good looking ^^
