Colin Powell went to UN and waved a piece of paper around as evidence that was fake and he knew it,yet instead of resigning,he went along with it. In my opinion, yes. Definitely more leftist than I'd like. On the other hand, I would say that FOX is certainly the most fair. They only bash Mr. Bush half the time, whereas it's "Hate Bush and all Pubs 24/7" everywhere else.

IMO, the reason the approval is so low is the direct result of the negative spin put on it by the leftist media. They did the same thing with Vietnam. Propaganda 101 - Tell people anything enough times and they'll believe it.

Like, for example, "We're winning in Iraq" or "The media is leftist"? Those sorts of untrue things repeated over and over to make people believe them? How is reporting "Car bomb kills 60 people" leftist spin? In what country in the world is that NOT the front page story?

Also, the media follows the public, not the other way around. Everyone knows by now not to trust everything they hear on TV or read in the newspapers. Media outlets chase ratings.

The NYT ran >1800 front page hit pieces on Mr. Bush in a row. Did they do that to any Dem...ever? They crucified Nixon, Ford, Reagan, both Bushes for any and everything real or imagined. CBS and Rather ran docs they knew were faked. Reuters has been exposed repeatedly showing doctored photos. The media expressly ignores any good done in Iraq but runs every setback on a loop. You can't deny this, Myrkat.

Bury Democratic scandals? They said both parties took money from Abramoff even though that isn't even true. In 1998 we had 2 years of all Monica all the time and it was rare that someone would mention that only 26% of the country favored impeachment. In 2000, 13% of stories about Al Gore were Positive as opposed to 24% for Bush, while 56% of stories about Gore were negative as opposed to 49% for Bush.

The mainstream media has so many non-ideology biases (sensationalism, laziness, get-it-first) that any ideological bias they could possibly have would get buried by the avalanche of other, less politically motivated biases.

I appreciate your reasonable tone, MyrKat. It appears that you may be one of "them" I can respect. I agree that the media had a heyday with the Monica thing, but there's a lot of other glossed over incidents (Whitewater, Foster, Willey, ect) that stick in my craw. The government only wants people to know about the positive, and the media only wants to talk about the negative. It's actually fun(ny) to watch if you've got the knack.

Saddam didn't deserve to be tried by the 80% of Iraqis (Shia and Kurds) who he oppressed during his regime! He was the rightful ruler of Iraq (taking power in a coup). He should have been put back in power because only his brutal dictatorship was able to stabilize that country.

interestingly, comparing the older photos of sadam to the trial ones, you can see that his "combed over hair" goes from the left to the right (our pov) in the old photos then changes to go from the right to left in the trial. maybe nothing, but do people change the direction of their comb over
