  • what scale is that it looks tiny compared to mine?

  • @morrisa183 This is the 1/10th scale Slash, same as yours.

  • do you heve some problems with rust?

  • Subscribe to "rcnightmare" you can see unboxing videos tips and more

  • u should of gottan a stampede.that was floating the pedwould have went right throu it

  • Great vid! Everyone talks about it on our forums!

Would you reccomend the stinger motor for a tamiya buggy 2wd?

    Thanks

    Dan

  • @TAMIYA911 Haha thanks what forums are they, may I ask? The Stinger motor is by far not the best motor out there in terms of speed, however, it's a good mid speed motor that can take one hell of a beating (one previous stinger I had actually had a fair sized dent in the can and kept running). without knowing what your exact setup is though, I can't really recommend or deny the Stinger f or you.

  • witch is faster titen 12t or stinger???

  • @shane10141 Technically the Titan is fastest; but I noticed very little difference between the two; though my titan was near the end of its life span so I can't truly say.

  • Titans are the worst motor ever! Mine blew up in about ten minutes and I was just driving in the grass!

  • yep it water proof alright

  • ive got a stampede been though # titan 550's is this stinger more reliable how long will it last me and did it still work perfect after this run in the water

  • @AllTraxxas I believe the Stinger is more reliable, though there is no test data to prove it. If you take good care of them, they'll last for a couple years of constant abuse. This motor ran absolutely perfectly after this run; it died 3 months later because my basement flooded and the motor rusted totally.

  • Should i get the Rustler XL-5 or the Slash XL-5?

  • @ruig Depends on what you're using it for. The Rustler and the Slash both make great bashers and racers, but the Rusty is definitely more suited to a racing application. The Slash is better looking IMO

  • @mrmukaiII no man the slash is a offroad racer i prefer slash 4x4

  • @ruig i have the rustler and i love it greatly!

  • is your battery dead?

  • @2000jeepsahara

The battery used in this video died last year, it simply reached the end of its lifespan. Its death had nothing to do with this action.

  • get a 4x4 so you can quit getting stuck in lame shit

  • @MajorDelco Get me five hundred bucks so I can afford one

  • @mrmukaiII go to hobby town USA off of 92nd ave. in westminster they charge $369.99 and when i checked out it came a total to $401.67...not bad but could be better! I love these things 2 whell drive or 4x4 they kick some serious ass!

  • @Babypunter117 Haha if I only knew where that was now. :p

  • Is the 5803 model able to be submerged right out of the box without modification?

    Please reply, thank you.

  • @sterworks Legally I have to say no, the Slash is only "highly waterproof" I will tell you though that this is a 5803 Slash and the only modifications I made to it were the ones I listed in the video.

  • if it was 4x4, i think it would have been better, it would not have been stuck in the water...

    btw, awesome video bro !!

  • @MasterBoy392 Haha yeah I wish I had the 4x4. I bought this two weeks after the Slash was originally released; which I think was a year before the Slash 4x4 came out?

  • @mrmukaiII

yeah sure, i have the same as in the video too bro :))

  • You really abused it!

  • @kyrkbymannen She's one hell of a tough truck; by far the most durable truck on the market.

  • @mrmukaiII That is good news, mine is at the postoffice, i will get it tomorrow! Hope mine will be as sturdy as yours

  • Traxxas trucks are a step away from invincible

  • @xDeathBringer94 They really are. I just blew the diff on this truck; traxxas is sending me a new one for free because the replacement I bought was defective.

  • @mrmukaiII Haha! that sucks. that happened to my 1/16 e revo and i had to pay $25 to get the part, and it took me 4 hours to fix it.

  • I love people who think if you go faster than 5mph, get it a little dusty, or don't treat it like a rare piece of art, you are abusing it...morons!

These cars are built to be bashed, abused, played with hard, put up wet...especially Traxxas stuff, they build their cars to be treated like that!

@ roaming1978 - This is not some fragile Radio Shack car, it's a REAL Hobby-Class RC Car, it's ok to run it hard. And "mrmukaiII" is obviously not a "rich kid", he's an adult!

    roaming = jealous!!!

  • @Tekkworkz

Hhaha you raise some excellent points man. I'm hoping to be able to get this truck back up and running this weekend, right now it's in a box after a massive differential failure (have you ever tried picking little bits of diff out of transmission grease?)

  • not really sure why you are treating your car this way..driving it in the water on purpose, kicking it with your foot when its stuck?? Learn to take better care of your stuff bro!! "Rich Kid" I guess...

  • @roaming1978

It's waterproof, I was having fun with it. I really was a lot gentler with my foot than it looks like from the video

  • @roaming1978 O Ok..I don't own one..I guess they are made to be played with kinda ruff anyway..cool truck though..

  • @roaming1978 Haha they are a lot of fun. I'm not rich by any means :p

  • you need a brushless in that! my vx-l is waterproofed! also a lipo would be a great improvement. look on ebay and find them under $30

  • Lopez has the right idea

  • The new vxl system is waterproof but the old one isn't. I learned that the hard way after my transmitter lost connection and my slash withvxl went all the way into the water. I sent the esc into traxxas( it was the only damaged thing- it started smoking the next time I hooked it up to my battery) and the highest amount they can charge youif it is more than 30 days old is $40 not 200. The vxl system doesn't even cost close to that.

  • lol they say its waterproof... but they dont mention anything about it doing it in style... or fast for that matter

  • @caka23 It's not supposed to be a fast truck. It's an entry level RTR vehicle.

  • DAM YOU WENT INTO A BIG PUDDLE

  • ur stupid i have traxxas but hpi is better + i did this to a waterproof vxl slash and it was a 200$ repair

and i did that to an hpi and nothin happened u are stupid

  • @ihatepieyo22 HPI IS WAY BETTER

  • @ihatepieyo22

First off; it takes one to know one. You didn't do it to a waterproof VXL Slash because the waterproof system doesn't cost $200 to replace, and I highly doubt you did this to a stock HPI vehicle.

  • @ihatepieyo22 HPI parts don't last as long and the plastics are a bit cheaper than the traxxas brand. The bumpers on my Slash have been through alot and still look new! And i have wrecked at 40mph. alot of flipping in the air without any damage just some scratches.

  • i love you people compare their top dollar rc cars to a nice, cheap but good rc car and say " oh my revo will smash on your shit" well no crap it will. If you would like to pay 600-700 dollars. Shit if i wanted to pay that much i wud buy a cheap rc car and strap some nitrous on it and see who wins a revo or my piece of shit rc car with some rockets lol.

  • @lopez430 Exactly! Not to mention it's a lot easier to replace broken parts on my reliable cheapo.

  • are those only 2wd

  • @amatx1

This is a 2WD Slash; Traxxas has a 4x4 model available now.

  • my t-maxx would crush your shit

  • Of course it would, it's a truck in a completely different class and costs twice as much!

  • @meaghanbeast my rustler could crush your t-maxx (aka shit) nice vid mrmukaill keep it up bro!

  • my savage 4.6 would crush both of ur cars

  • @coolness221

Run your Savage 4.6 into the same water that my Slash did and come back.

  • @mrmukaiII i have but i give u props it wub probly come out working more than my savage would

  • keep talkin shit lol my wheely king crawler will go over all if your trucks lol

  • do that stinger is good?

  • The stinger is very reliable. It's not fast, but reliable.

  • is it a low battory or just slow

  • The battery was charged about 10 hours before, so it wasn't at its maximum (power was knocked out at that time). However, it's also running a slower than stock motor (better torque for wet running)

  • my stock moter died from warter so try not to use it in water now i have a brushless from traxxas

  • I would say a traxxas brushed motor is almost waterproof except for rusting but just dry it really good after running in snow or water some screws around my gears got a little rusty so just be careful.

  • That's a good bit of advice, the only thing I'd add would be to give it a spray down with WD-40 after a wet run.

  • hi mrmukaill please i need your help!!!

are all brushed traxxas slash waterproofed ???plzzzz reply!

  • All brushed Traxxas Slashes are highly water resistant stock. If you convert them to any non-traxxas brushless system, it will lose its water resistance. Also, the transmitter is not waterproof in any way.

  • all DC brushed motors are waterproof. drills, rc cars, any battery powered motor. a car starter motor is waterproof. AC motors (that plug into the wall) are not. im not sure about 220v DC motors, id say they are not.

  • that's not very nice

  • @SUPERFORMIAN She likes it. However, we do agree on a safeword beforehand.

  • i didn't see a girl anywhere

  • @SUPERFORMIAN This video wouldn't be on Youtube if you did.

  • you're a funny guy!

  • @SUPERFORMIAN I try. :D

  • "This vid wouldn't be on YouTube if you did" i wouldnt go THAT far...

  • @SUPERFORMIAN In reality, it was about 20 degrees outside. There would have been severe logistical problems to such a plan, let alone the whole driving and filming and walking bit.

  • i dont get it

  • It's no boat

  • @allthatstuff34

It certainly sinks like the Titanic!

  • Yeah I have that question to. I ahve a 7 cell series 3 and I've already gone through 4 titan 12t motors in a week should I go with the stinger 20 t

  • @KTMBOY1112

On paper, the Stinger is significantly slower than the Titan. IRL, I'd say that the Stinger is almost as fast. I'd go with the Stinger only if you're planning on submerging it. If not, get a more expensive rebuildable motor.

  • Alright well I'll try the titan 12t one more time and hopefully it won't go up in smoke

  • dude my titians caught FIRE!

  • is the stinger motor faster than the stock titan 12t? cuz when i was at my local hobby shop they told me that the lower the turn numeber i.e 10t 8t 12t ext... the faster it goes but since the stinger is a 20t and the stock titan is 12t which is faster?

  • ya i was reading your comments and your right when you say that the stingermotors dont die, i put a stinger motor in a rc boat, the boat sank in the middle of the pond and the only thing that worked after i got it after 5 days of looking, was the motor. justa fun fact i thought i would share, oh nice video though.

  • In case you didn't know, Traxxas also sells boats!

    LOL

  • @werkloosdoorcrisis It's in the video! lol

  • That is so awesome what Traxxas has done with the waterproofing. My buddies and I all had 1st generation E-Maxx's and if we went through a small splash like yours @ 1:31 the ESC was fried!

  • Haha yeah, my first R/C was a 2nd gen. Traxxas Stampede with the XL-1 speed controller. I hit a puddle with that one day, and that was it for that ESC. I still have the Stinger motor from that truck; it's the same one running in the Slash in this video, those things just don't die!

  • @mrmukaiII hey the one thing i was worried about was the bearings ... do they rust up ?

  • Just bought a rustler with the waterproof xl5 and installed a tamiya super stock BZ 23t motor with a 18t pinion.

Running that with 4600mah ni-mh batteries.

Its so sweet but im afraid of hurting my motor in water, I dont intend to swim it but wil rnning through a puddle kill it?

  • How deep defines a puddle? You should be fine up to two inches of water.

  • dc motors are waterproof

  • YOU KNOW THAT STOP WORKING THE NEXT DAY

  • I still have this truck and the electronics. Still running strong

  • 20t stinger is the slash legacy motor the 12t titan 550 is much better and faster stick to thats.

  • does stinger motor good as durable?

my titan 12t motor dead. i want to try this one or should i just stick to titan?

  • what do you mean by " I will I caught what happened next in to video"

  • I front flipped into the second pool of water. I also failed to catch said frontflip on camera.

  • If i upgrade my slash to the VXL will it still be water tight?

  • No, it will not.

  • There is a new VXL that is waterproof from TRAXXAS

  • i still cant believe they are waterproof!

  • what battery do u use for the waterproof? because no nimh batteries r waterproof

  • Those batteries are just DTX 4200's with a bag wrapped around them.

  • o kk what do u do about the plug?

  • I didn't do anything about the connector.

  • kk ty

  • u need to make it 4x4! so u dont get stucK!

  • im gonna convert my stampede to a slash vxl. i want to buy just the chassy wheels and basic componets, then transfer all my electricals.

  • You'll also need to replace the front and rear chassis braces, and get some bellcranks for the steering.

  • i put a 20 turn motor in my wheely king and it sounds kinda like a brushless is it saposed to sound like that

  • how did u water proof the batterys

  • I just put them in a bag. It's a side by side pack, so the shrinkwrap covers the batteries' ends anyway.

  • like a plastic baggie

  • Yep, for this video I used a bag that the newspaper comes in when it rains.

  • u dont have to waterproof most batteries, some are already wrapped up

  • True, but it's best to play it safe when you have the full intention of submerging the truck.

  • yea, i went ahead and tied a balloon around my MRC's battery, lol took like 5 balloons to do it, but i got it lol,

  • i love traxxas cars ...4x4 drift on pavment

  • its not 4x4....

  • who would of thought that rc would be waterproof 15 years ago. bad ass

  • wow, first youre a terrible driver. second, you beat the crap outta that truck and abuse it for no reason. why would you kick the truck wen you can bend down 6 inches and move it with your hand? thats just stupid..

  • Ok, first off, the ground is coated in about a quarter inch of ice, those tires are horrible when wet, and I'm driving one handed. Secondly, if you think that's beating the crap out of it, well, all I can say is that you are wrong. That isn't even close to a beating.

  • its a slash! who cares if someone dives it a little kick its really durable my cousin has one and we beat the crap outta that thing and it still works great

  • True, the Slash is extremely tough! I have a VXL in it in the summer, and it's taken so many head on crashes at WOT that it should be dead and buried.

  • i kick my slash, crash it, drove it in 2 inches of water, drove it in snow, crashed it head on a bunch of times, roll it 5 million times, and harshly bash and race this car at the park and track. my car still works like new

  • same here boss.

  • well...how the hell are you gonna have fun if you just baby the damn thing....it can take it, so why not have fun? i mena you pay so much for it.....

  • the slash is very water proof.. but i found out the hard way that the battery isn't :( ...

  • Yeah, tightly wrapping a bag around the battery should be enough.

  • zip-lock or shrink rap? and what about the male to female connectors?

I'm asking because its snowing like a mofo where i live and when I'm ending my run, my chassis is packed with snow. thanx!

  • wrap your battery in plastic and u wont get water in your battery

  • if u know what is the difference between the 20 turn stinger and a 15 turn motor and is the stinger faster or slower than the 12 turn titan?

  • The 20 turn Stinger is slower than the 12T Titan. More turns=less speed but more torque. Also, the Stinger has a smaller can size than the Titan

  • yea i see ur point my titan burned up like 1 hr of use (i didnt break it in tho) as soon as i took it into grass with dew on it, it smoked

  • The Stinger I am using in the video is from 2000.

  • lol wat happened after that like the next day or charge because my 1st motor got fried when i did that and it goes a good 20mph with the right gearing

  • Unlike the Titan, the Stinger is an incredibly reliable motor; a little slow, but very worth the $18. It's still working well.

  • I have a Dynamite Vision Peak 2 that I got at the LHS

  • No, it's only waterproof stock. You could put an Eraser system from associated in there, but I haven't heard much good about it.

  • Top speed on the titan was about 10 or 15. The VXL, using the same battery, topped out at about 30.

  • hey nice video can u post the WEBSITE for those tires because the stock tires on the traxxas slash are weak i need some wider tires like urs can u give me the website for those tires?

  • wat r thoes tires??

    their pretty sick

  • Those are the tires and rims (painted black) from Ye Olde Stampede 3606. You can still get them from, last I checked.

  • dude ur slash looks exactly like mine!!

  • You running Stampede tires too?

  • no just traxxas tires, but i have a 7 cell 4700

  • what type of battery do you have?

  • DTX 4200 6C side by side running Traxxas Connectors

  • You should flush out your ball bearings after that little adventure with some motor cleaner and re-oil them.

  • Very cool man, VXLbeast from TRX forums. Methinks it is waterproof, lol.

I also miss the whats happening thread, that was great.

  • That would be cool

  • looks like fun

    31794ty from traxxas forums.

  • nicE!

  • Nice video the Slash is definitely water proof. I kick my rc`s to get them un stuck to lol.

  • Remember the whats happening thread!? Also, your slash is now a submarine. xD

    rocky8333 from TRX forums.

  • Good times that was a great thread.

  • Yes, one of the best threads ever! Maybe we can keep it going here...

  • i learned the hard way that batteries are not water prooff lol

  • sweet!

  • what wheels and tires are you running and where did you get them?

  • Those are the tires and rims (painted black) from Ye Olde Stampede 3606. You can still get them from, last I checked.

  • k thanks mikeyboats on trx forums
