every time I see this I always wish they didn't crash into the sun but instead left the galactic in space orbiting earth or the moon or even crashing it on the moon, and then imagining what would have happened if our modern society in that show found it.
I liked this scene, but what I didn't get was how Galactica's FTL drive was still online. It went down at New Crapica after a similar beating that was probably not even as bad as what they recieved at The Colony and it took the intervention of the Pegasus to buy them the time to fix it. Pegasus' FTL presumably went down at New Crapica considering the ship was abanonded and they didn't try to Jump, but Galactica recieved that kind of a beating at The Colony and didn't lose FTL???
@WarGrowlmon18 Some great stories there. One, the Voice of Reason, has Anders die in the Mutiny and resurrect on the Colony through a secret back-up system the Five had in place. Anders, Caprica Six and Baltar manage to create a real peace during a massive battle and the Cylons and humans travel to Earth together on The Colony. There, the humans settle on Earth while the Cylons settle on Mars, the planets perfect for their needs. Starbuck doesn't disappear, but Roslin dies after marrying
@WarGrowlmon18 Adama. Also Helo and Athena die in the battle and Tyrol and Tory take off with the Centurions. Another series of three stories follows a group of survivors from the Colonies led by a guy named Ryan Cody who turns out to be the adopted son of Colonel Jurgen Belzen from Razor. During an attack by the Cylons, Ryan Cody is killed but is resurrected as he's really a Daniel, the missing Cylon model.
@WarGrowlmon18 In the begining of the third story its shown how the Final Five, learning of Cavil's plans for them and Daniel, manage to save three Daniels, the youngest of which is Ryan Cody and the chapter ends with Cavil suffocating them like Anders said. The story has Ryan trying to escape the Colony guided by a Centurion and the spirit of Starbuck after her death in season 3. The last updated chapter features the Final Five on Earth trying to rebuild resurrection and how they survive.
@ducktopia301 I did along with the whole remake series. Hollywood destroyed another series and people just don't give a damn. You are the reason Hollywood sucks!
this show taught me weed is the answer to the problems of the universe. president smoked it. song was written while on it. convinced ther was a constant haze around the ship. no other explanation
Whoa.. havn't watched BSG in ages but seeing Earth and Galactica in the same frame still fires the blood! Hey I luv me Star Trek to bits and Star Wars too, but this show was EPIC sci-fi drama and suspense and we were blessed and spoilt rotten to have it.
@LeroyJenkins1988 Probably has to do with the structure of the ships. Galactica was built with military design in mind, therefore the important and sensitive parts of the ship (bridge, FTL drive, life support, etc) are tucked away deep in the ship. For some reason, in Star Trek, a lot of the ships have a clearly visible exposed bridge and giant warp nacelles hanging out like big targets.
@IamShadowfax The galactica bridge was exposed. A cylon ship rammed the bridge and almost killed Adama. That was the classic Galactica however. I have no idea where the bridge was on the newer series. But I agree, I never understood why the star trek command bridge (on most ships) was exposed, but the battle bridges were deep within the ship (and almost never used). If I recall, the dreadnaughts main bridge in the original series was in a different spot.
@LeroyJenkins1988 Well, if you're talking about TOS Enterprise, that's cause that's the same ship where 75% of deaths are caused from hidden explosives in consoles... boom.
As for Voyager, that ship could take more of a beating, and as for Defiant I'd say that's more closely related to Enterprise. NX-01 Enterprise could take a HELL of a beating.
And Galactica, well.... with Adama at the helm a nuke won't even stop it. It tried, and it failed.
I don't really watch sci-fi but I liked Battlestar. The ending surprised me: I thought the entire show took place in the future but it was actually around 148 000 B.C.. Apparently it was pretty realistic in physics and what combat would be like in zero gravity and space. Battle scenes were awesome
I love Star Trek and Babylon 5. I have a picture of Kate Mulgrew in my wallet. I've had dinner with Claudia Christian. And when I think of what Sci-Fi should be... a show that is about real people who happen to be out there and in a bad situation, I think of Battlestar Galactica. This show is frakkin' awesome. Someday the kids watching soapies and reality TV will catch up. This show is the frakkin' best.
I loved this series. It was spectacular. The story-arch was so well though out. The ending was a culmination of what seemed to be unrelated events that came together at just the right time to coalesce. It is the type of show best viewed in its entirety. That way you can better appreciate all the intricate details each episode adds to the story. Thanks for posting it up.
I loved this show (season 1)...then I hated it (season 2). Then I loved it again (beginning of season 3), then I got bored with it. Then It was amazing and disappointing all at once (end of season 4). I felt like the ending was phoned in and not very well thought out, but the events leading up to it returned us to the action that made the show awesome in the beginning.
Loved the show, but I swear, there was WAY too much drama in the series, I mean on Netflix I literally skipped episodes because just the titles were ridiculous. I mean it was like there was a political riot every other day. Gods, I still miss it though, PS Fuck whoever disliked the ending, it was awesome, FTW!
Humans are fcking morons. Yes, I'm human and therefore a moron like anyone else reading this. These idiots decide to erase their entire history and start over so that the lessons of the past won't be learned from the new civilization. Apoolos idea, yes, but the rest went along with it. If you saw the last episode you know what I'm talking about.
@smcneal057 Well really those coordinates only count if you are at the same location they were at when they jumped. Remember part of those coordinates are the point of origin.
@psalmtone2008 Different for Battlestar Galactica yes but I got enough of the "This is hopeless/we're all gonna die/endless cycle of destruction" bullshit from Halo. Also Cain was my favorite character and I consider it a crime watching him get turned into an evil psycho bitch.
Actually, former Ensign Ro played on of best and most articulate characters in this show. Also, most realistic one, aside Adama himself. Personally, I've had enough of Gaius Baltar and his psychodelic visions, retrospections....
@AnteyPL I'm not talking about how articulate or realistic the characters were. I'm talking about the attitude, the CHARACTER of the characters and show. Cain was my favorite character because he was couragous and kick-ass not psychotic bitch. The attitude of "this is hopeless" was over done in Halo and BSG rehashed it.
If I recall original Cain (male) on purpose destroyed last remaining tanker just to force his plan of attacking fuel depot - in that aspect he wasn't any less psychotic or egoistic than Helena Cain.
@AnteyPL That is a matter of debate. He didn't betray and backstab people. The only person he tried to assasinate was Imperious Leader. That tanker was unmanned, and if Adama didn't want to hit the depot badly enough he would've found an alternative. Adama was too protective of the fleet. He'd gotten too used to baby-sitting duty and needed to be reminded of that Galactica can and should strike back.

Battlestar Galactica was so good that it made Star Trek and most other sci-fi shows seem cartoonish in comparison!
