I like the metaphore of a ship, but I think the Imam made a mistake to presume that the man is the captain. I think many times women make better captains in any field, so it should not be presented as a fact that the man is the captain.......so I was a bit dissappointed by this 'old fashoined' remark!

Marriage is about u and your spouse. It is not something parents do u you.

In Islam forced marriage is not allowed though in Muslim societies it has happened. The man has to ask woman's father for permission to get married. But the girl's father cannot deny without a valid reason. The girl's father in principle dont have that right. Because Islam do not allow discrimination. If the father do not give permission Shariah allows Qadi (judge from court of justice ) to establish the marriage.

Westernizing morrocons is as bad as arabizing them so keep your true islamic culture and behaviour, Modernization is different then westernization. All westernization brings into countries is porn,drugs,corruption,poverty, it's more useless than arabization. It encourages the kids to adapt things from what ever they see in magazines and media and pretty much creates no goals in life for kids or adults, especially for our women who marry european/amerikan foreigners.
