when my house got broke into i thought i'd get a cctv camera system installed by the best. paid ADT £1500 deposit and owed them £2000 to pay after install. instead of 2/3 days install took 2 weeks.A camera was not working so after abut 20 calls and 10 months later they move the camera and instead of an apology they send me to court. Most definitely the worst company i have ever dealt with. so many verbal promises that were all broken. i c y we cant comment on their you tube page. STAY AWAY!!!
@Simmer3194 It's an alarm sounder. They go on the outside of buildings and are connected to the intruder alarm control panel. It makes a loud sound for 15 minutes when the alarm is activated by an intruder, have a zenon strobe light so you can easily identify "which" alarm is sounding if there are many alarm boxes next to each other, and those blue LEDs are just a visual deterent.
Also, in these unit is a battery, so if you cut the wire then it will sound anyway. Hope that helps.
Ok we have this bell box its wired to the system ive checked but when the alarm is sounded it doesnt flash or ring but the internal bell does any ideas i think its the setting thats wrong and i dont have the installers code!
@Magnet108 - 99% of ADT boxes are dummy boxes, they are NOT wired to the panel. Its only got led's and a battery pack in it. It doesnt make a squeak. abcfireandsecurity.co.uk
@TechnoEngineering but how come when ever i attend an alarm activation in my mothers house the bellbox is making a siren sound and Flashing? also whenever I see an ADT alarm going off the siren is going off and there is a strobe flashing??
I work within the Access Control (Lenel/CCure) and CCTV industry, we install alarms, but not many.
ADT is a worldwide company(?), although here in the UK it has a repretation that means that I will not consider joining (if given the opportunity to. From what I hear, ADT in other countries has a good repretation. I have a couple of friends who work for ADT, current employees who worked for ADT. I hear many stories, current and before (I've been in the industry for 21 years).
I went to a training course run by Tyco (I won't say the product). Majority people in training were ADT engineers. No-one had anything good to say. The things that I heard about were shocking, but I'd must admit, not surprising.
"meeting targets was priority, good customer service almost non-existant" was blamed for most things. Not good bringing up trainees like this.
I heard that Tyco were just starting to realise the problems in ADT in the UK.
Yeah, Iwork in service/inspections. All they care about is numbers. I could tell you some horror stories. Before Tyco bought then, they were a good company. Now it is filled with nothing but dumbasses and yesmen.
ADT is generally considered a good product and service, but things are different here in the UK where I have heard other things. Visit this video again and read other comments.
so, i take it you can only get these in the UK? if so, then... i still want one. the bell boxes in america are basically a 5x11 inch steel box where a siren or motorized bell would be housed in with a door on it that has 4 sets of 3 vents for the sound to travel through. some, however, are a 5x5.5 inch steel box, and like the bigger ones, house either a siren or a bell, and have an L shaped set of vents.
Interesting this, even in places like Germany - they have very few designs. One of them looks like a tube on the wall. At one end is a slot that is presumably where the sound comes out, and the other end is red, which is probably the strobe light - no company/installation company names are ever printed on them.
Maybe it's just the UK that has all these different designs.
Do a search for texecom, pyronix, elmdene in the UK to see just a few!!
Intruder/burglar alarm boxes. They go on the outside of buildings or houses. If someone breaks into the house/building then these make a loud noise to attract attention. I should have activated the sounder on this video.

@Magnet108 You probably have a dummy external ADT box with a lithium battery pack to power the leds hence no sound or strobe when alarm is activated.

I have no point to make, except "look at the new alarm box from ADT with flashing LEDs". Maybe others here are trying to make a point?
"I think" the LEDs is a cool improvement to the old design - looks good!

And I recommend.
