need to know my building was damaged by another company that tore down a building connect to mine i had one appraisal this lawyer is saying i need another one and he chargiig me 3,000 dollars thats what the apprasal cost he say i dont believe him

I AM AN APPRAISER IN NJ. I HAVE BEEN WORKING FOR AMC'S FOR 30 YEARS. I WILL BE GENERALLY CERTIFIED SOON. HOWEVER, I WISH EVERYONE WOULD STOP COMPLAINING, IT'S A GREAT PROFESSION. IF YOU REALLY WANT TO MAKE MONEY THEN GO FOR TAX APPEALS OR ERC WORK. THERE IS A TON OF WORK OUT THERE. THE BEST PART IS IF YOU HAVE THE GUTTS TO BUY PROPERTY. WE ARE IN THE BEST POSITION TO DO THAT. I DID IT AND MADE ALOT OF MONEY.

One of the major AMCs is now charging borrowers $625 for apraisals and paying the appraisers $190. This is the same company that has offshored their "administrative" reviews to India, which cost them around $4.

Now that it is commonplace for expensive metro areas to have appraisers coming in from 100-150 miles away, we can rest assured that the reviewers in India will "catch" all errors and omissions made by the geographically incompetent appraisers.

I'm an appraiser in New Mexico. Prior to HVCC I had more than a dozen regular customers. I now have only (1) because I refuse to work w/ AMC's that set my pay structure. HVCC has been the worst thing for appraisers, home owners and lenders. Most of the brokers I used to work for are now out of business. WTF? I thought the FInancial Reform bill was supposed to fix this- NOPE!

RELS, and LSI are two of the biggest Appraisal Management Companies, and guess who owns them. LSI is owned by B of A, and RELS is owned by Wells Fargo.

The banks did it again, they figured out a ways of stealing the fruits of someone else hard work.

The fox really is guarding the henhouse.

Very well said. I would add you've seen a 25-40% reduction in fees in the orders you get and a 100% reduction in fees for the appraisal requests going to some low bidding competitor. Hang in there and good luck.
