Want to know something hilarious? I downloaded Origin and bought the digitally version of BF3. Now after playing it for about an hour, it crashes, and I'm trying to get into Origin again, but it won't let me, cause it runs slow, and keeps freezing etc. I reinstalled it, and guess what? BF3 is nowhere to be found. It's gone from my Origin account, and I obviously have to buy it again, to get it back. Well that's not happening....Origin shit....

I'm a console gamer and I don't see the big deal. So you have to download something, big deal. Having Battlefield 3 only on Origin is part of marketing. They're making these games for money, not 100% for your enjoyment. Game development is some peoples full time job, and by doing this EA and DICE are making more money. Which will lead to better quality games in the future.
I'm not sure, but I think Left 4 Dead is only available on Steam? It's the exact same concept.

Even Console users must have an EA/Origin account to play the game. Strangely enough, consoles will have server browsers. I find this process very laborious and frustrating. Why can't we just shove a disk in our consoles and play the game?

I myself am a console and pc gamer but more console than pc and I think that EA taking control is a good thing and will help battlefield players but I also think that you should be able to have multiple soldiers and be able to change your name more easily.
I'm getting the game on Xbox, but this doesn't benefit anybody. Why would EA do this? I get the use and creation off Origin, and I am fine with it, but the changes to everything else is pointless, in my opinion. They have a game with amazing gameplay and experience, but if they're making it so difficult and cumbersome to acquire in the first place, people could find other products that are more accessible.
i think that is really dumb that you can't have more than 1 soldier per copy of BF3. i think EA intended this to cut down on griefing and make banning easier for servers, but they DEFINITELY shouldn't go through with it. plus i am going to have to drop the EA account i already have because i am not officially listed as a player of BF2, for some reason. my account is not listed so i do not qualify for BF: veteran status which really sucks. if anybody has any suggestions send me a message plz

@jacek45 My PC costs $750 and can play most modern games at max settings. A $500 PC can still beat consoles by performance. And for your inforation, consoles are maxed at 256 players, but not most games supports it. Most PC gamers spent $1000 or less to play not only pc games, but also other stuff like work, schoolwork, video editing,etc. $2000 PC is overkill.
Personally, I'll install origin to play, but I think EA will lose a lot of potential customers and make a lot of people mad because of this. I'd rather install BF3 on steam.

Origin's problem is that all the games are fucking overpriced. BF3 is £40 there, while you can buy it on Amazon for like £28. EA doing things like this is going to kill Origin before it even gets off the ground.
As for the software itself, it's just a re-skinned EADM. I'd rather just use Steam but I'm not too bothered. Only having one character is stupid though. What if my brother wants to play, and rank up? He's never going to buy his own copy, so again EA are making it worse for themselves.
i fuckin hate steam and i think that EA is doing a very awesome thing. next to that they had to do this, bcause the game is fully integrated with battlelog and its easier to control everything if your launcher so to speak is your own program, not steam...
EA isn't in a feud with Steam, you could even see that its Steam's fault. Origin is free and it isn't a lot of hassle. Steam has a policy where all dlc and games have to go through them, so EA pulled BF3 from Steam so they can manage their own DLC and patches
It does not bother me any more ofc it sucks i cant chat with my steam mates while on bf3 but most of them will chat on origins lol they all will play bf3 so :P

I though steam broke away from EA.. since EA chose to sell the game on mainly origin, this was some how against the rules, terms of agreement or whatever.. to steam, or valve.. So which means that EA could not anymore sell BF3 on Steam..

I'll be skipping BC3 then unless it's delivered via Impulse. I use Impulse and Steam. Steam for 99% of my games and Impulse for the rest.
Origin is probably fine but it's just one more application to go through - just can't be assed.

i play a strategy game called supreme commander 2
there was a glitch after the patch for it was released EVERYONE to kicked from EVERY multiplayer room
for 1 week straight there was no multiplayer

And for your inforation, consoles are maxed at 256 players, but not most games supports it. Most PC gamers spent $1000 or less to play not only pc games, but also other stuff like work, schoolwork, video editing,etc. $2000 PC is overkill.

Origin's problem is that all the games are fucking overpriced. BF3 is £40 there, while you can buy it on Amazon for like £28. EA doing things like this is going to kill Origin before it even gets off the ground.
As for the software itself, it's just a re-skinned EADM. I'd rather just use Steam but I'm not too bothered. Only having one character is stupid though. What if my brother wants to play, and rank up? He's never going to buy his own copy, so again EA are making it worse for themselves.

EA isn't in a feud with Steam, you could even see that its Steam's fault. Origin is free and it isn't a lot of hassle. Steam has a policy where all dlc and games have to go through them, so EA pulled BF3 from Steam so they can manage their own DLC and patches
