also the way the rear suspension is set up on your build when you sit on the bike the chain will lose tension. to fix this you need to spring load the pulley you got from the junk yard. It doesn't have to be a lot of tension on the pulley, just enough to keep slack out of the chain when the suspension flexes. or make it a hard tail.
@Edgarbopp Yes I figured with a suspension I'd have to rethink that....however if I go with a gear cluster on the back wheel and derailleur that'd compensate for the movement wouldn't it?
looks good man! think about some kind of rear fender so if you hit a bump anbd you fall off the back of the seat you wont land on the rear tire! =) that bike chain will be fine for a small engine like that but if you went up to a 6.5 you should go to a #35 or 40.
@loweylegend I think you're right about that. I have seen people use those new style BMX chains that have all the half links. I thought about using one on the clutch side since I modified it to accept a standard size chain. I did that by disassembling the clutch then I bought a large thick washer at Lowe's, measured and drew out teeth then cut them out. I then beveled the teeth so the chain would'nt bind and smoothed them out. Afterward I welded it to the outside part of the clutch.
what i dont like is no pedals i cant use this in florida
