The reason why this isn't a real game yet, and only a demo, is because in order to run it, you need the processing power equivalent to 10 XBOX 360s. No, I am not making that up. 360: 0.25 terraFLOPS. This needs 2.5!
These graphics are outdated? What? That's running in real time, not cinematics. Epic stated that it took 3x GTX580s to run this demo. This is still based on UE3 though and by 2014 they should have even more advanced UE4. Can't wait!!!

Please make this into a game!!! Imagine how amazing it would be if epic made this into a super hardcore blade-runner-esq. open world game where for example if you were in your unarmored form 2 or 3 bullets would kill you but you can change to that and become almost impervious to bullets but move unbelievably slow and can't use guns. It would have to potential to be one of the greatest games ever!
@megahypernova Actually there is rumors floating around that that is a teaser to a game. Now if they are true or not don't know. Though just the fact that can be done in real-time...is beautiful.
Of course this is just the graphics for the trailer and maybe certain cutscenes. The graphcis in-game will most likely be signeficantly less realistic.
@aabb3ElOriginal Actually for this level of detail you have to wait two generations at least meaning this next generation (ps4\xbox 720) then one more (ps5\xbox???). My reasoning being that it took 3 gtx 480's OC to play this tech demo, if it involved the more complex rendering and calculations for actual player gameplay then you need something alot stronger. This next gen consoles are barely gonna catch up to the PC as they are now and PC are gonna be 5steps ahead into the vid above.

I haven't played Prey but I will chime in and say this looks like a great idea for a game. The music fits it perfectly, the elements are perfect, everything seems to point towards a wonderful idea.
To be honest, it kind of reminds me of a mix between Shadowrun/Blade Runner/XMen. Rather interesting mix really.
@CidCaldensfey Prey was just an odd game by 3d Realms, but Prey 2 looks like a blade runner world, but with deputies as well armed as batman. The robot at the end of this video even looks like the guy at the end of the Prey 2 trailer
People complaining about shit graphics need to ask themselves if they could do better.. ive just started using UDK and im lightyears away from getting to these levels.. the cut scenes, lighting, reflections, and everything look amazing i have to say
@dvanaken89 When UE3 was announced and shown back in 2004, it didn't really bring anything new to the table either, graphically. It just had all the newest tech at the highest possible quality, delivered in an amazing framework. While it looked better than everything else, you could still pick out every single thing and say "well this isn't new", but the fact that it all comes at that quality in one package, that is new.
The new UE3, shown in this video, is similar in that way.
I think people need to understand that just because they aren't using a top end graphics card, doesn't mean that the graphics won't be a big improvement, if pc developers used the most powerful current card and CPU as the basis of a game to develop, the standard would be incredible, with that card and the other compenents for next Xbox they will be doing some impressive stuff for sure

I don't care if the new console stops you from playing pre-owned games. I won't be buying the new Xbox. You can't get decent wheels with force feedback for X-box in Australia with. Plenty for Playstation though, and that's what I'll be buying next. It's a shame because the new xbox sounds good.

i have to agree with alot of the critisiscm, i would love for this to be real-time, but it bothers me that they don't release it, at least as some sort of benchmark. I would love benching on this instead of say; the haven dx11 benchmark. That looks good to, but NOWHERE near this. If it's realtime, the only reason i can see for not releasing it, is that it will scare people just how much hardware you would need to run it. and that unreal is afraid that it will scare people away.

Steam answered some complaints about DRM as a reason to pirate(pirate copy superior to payed copy) and they seem to be doing just fine.. More active accounts then Xbox live. More then 30% of users have torrent software and are paying for games.
Steam sold more with their DRM then the non-DRM copies from GOG.
@BeastlyRig The sales on PC will pay for the game with a small profit.. The Xbox sales will be mostly profit.. This way they could release it on next gen systems with full graphics and little cost.. It's always better to have high quality models on big games for that reason. Not having those high quality textures would cost more to redo, thus making it cost prohibitive.
@BeastlyRig Epic Games have already said that they're going back to PC as their main platform, and are telling other companies to take the platform more seriously. If game like Portal 2 manages to sell more on PC then consoles despite all the piracy really says something.

I think people need to understand that just because they aren't using a top end graphics card, doesn't mean that the graphics won't be a big improvement, if pc developers used the most powerful current card and CPU as the basis of a game to develop, the standard would be incredible, with that card and the other compenents for next Xbox they will be doing some impressive stuff for sure

And I believe first we should get the hyper-realistic textures and graphics down before advancing into VR, because if it looks like shit, then it's hardly going to be VR. But you're right, and hopefully soon they will delve deeper into VR.

I don't care if the new console stops you from playing pre-owned games. I won't be buying the new Xbox. You can't get decent wheels with force feedback for X-box in Australia with. Plenty for Playstation though, and that's what I'll be buying next. It's a shame because the new xbox sounds good.

Gaming/Game-Engines companies should stop lying and deliver instead (kinda what Frostbite 2 did) sure this is realtime, but with 3xGTX580`s. thats what 1200-1500 just in gfx hardware. then i dont consider this a current reflection of realtime gfx.

@sthazeb Sure, and by the time the xbox 720 comes out we'll be on the next generation of nvidia cards after kepler and maybe a single top end card will be able to deliver this level of performance, but when rumors (which I don't really think to be all that reliable) talk about the 720 having a radeon 6670 for a GPU... that's not 1/6th the power of tri-sli gtx 580s. Yes, a console is a more efficient platform than a PC, but not *THAT* much more efficient, not even close.

i have to agree with alot of the critisiscm, i would love for this to be real-time, but it bothers me that they don't release it, at least as some sort of benchmark. I would love benching on this instead of say; the haven dx11 benchmark. That looks good to, but NOWHERE near this. If it's realtime, the only reason i can see for not releasing it, is that it will scare people just how much hardware you would need to run it. and that unreal is afraid that it will scare people away.

I'd recommend 2,000 GFLOPS expandable to 10,000 GFLOPS on next boxes.

@BeastlyRig PC piracy is about 4X that of consoles and that's due to complexity not attitude. Some pirates can be reformed, some will pirate $1 games.
Steam answered some complaints about DRM as a reason to pirate(pirate copy superior to payed copy) and they seem to be doing just fine.. More active accounts then Xbox live. More then 30% of users have torrent software and are paying for games.
Steam sold more with their DRM then the non-DRM copies from GOG.

@BeastlyRig The sales on PC will pay for the game with a small profit.. The Xbox sales will be mostly profit.. This way they could release it on next gen systems with full graphics and little cost.. It's always better to have high quality models on big games for that reason. Not having those high quality textures would cost more to redo, thus making it cost prohibitive.
