miriam margolyes is an ignorant bitch who has no respect what so ever for her fans. I have just seen her at the Sheffield Crucible in Me and My Girl with a horrible actor called Daniel Crossley and Miriam could not even be bothered to come and see me at the stage door. I waited at the stage door six times and she knew I was waiting out in the cold and the rain but she never had the bloody decency to come out and sign for me. They do not. They're paid, and not always very well, to rehearse and perform a play. They perform 8 times a week it's knackering; you try doing that and seeing how up to greeting a bunch of fawning sycophantic strangers you feel. Honestly the cheek of some people!

For any Miriam fans who haven't yet come across it, the BBC dramatization of Barbara Pym's "Some Tame Gazelle" is, IMHO, her finest hour. Only La Margolyes could make a lunch invitation followed by "It's pheasant" sound utterly suggestive - and to an Archdeacon, too!

Some Tame Gazelle is, I think, out of print, so you'll probably have to try your luck on ebay. Worth the bother, though.
