    The American ABC (American Broadcasting Company) was formed in 1943 when NBC was forced to spin-off one of it's two radio networks to comply with anti-trust rulings. The "Blue" became a separate network; it's name was changed to ABC in 1945.

    The U.S. ABC began TV network operations in 1948; however, the company merged with Paramount Theatres in 1953, which today the company considers the date of it's official "birth".
