  • dude i don't know if u still bother with this old game, but the place with the second tripple springs set and all those enemys in the air (i that area the the place of many paths) can be completed faster. if u want to try to do that, forget that second set of springs, just jump over them boost and jump into one of the enemys that pop up, then homing attack the final one, before the colour ring.

  • well thats a very good recored but me and PsychoTheHedgehog still got you beat ask me or Psycho about it to find the new fantastic short cut i came up with

  • id say the trick i said about would save about 2 to 3 secs

  • ok thanks i will try it soon

  • hi awesome time how do u do the thing after the chanin before the red ring and to make your time a bit after u go on the grinding pole dont speed then jump at the top of the hill and boost that might save you about a second my time is currently 2:05 without coming through and the trick i asked about.

  • I might try that when I get a chance, but I'm none too sure it would be faster. I already land on a speed pad at that part anyway, so I'm going plenty fast enough down that hill as it is.

Unless you mean the poles that you jump from. But even there, there's the light dash (needed to get rings back) which speeds things up a bit. I'll see though.

That trick at the start is done by using the homing attack to the left after killing the four enemies, and boosting. It's tough, but it will come.

  • mine waaaas umm I cant quite exactly remember, but I think it was 1'54"989

  • OK, I'll break it down.

I boost over the ring after doing the homing attack. Unless you hit the wall as soon as you touch down (which is a mistake, not the normal result), you lack the time to boost enough to avoid a light dash.

The reason is simple - as seen in my vid, the boost actually continues for a second or so once you touch down. This results in you being too far along by the time you can boost again to avoid a light dash. Which in turn necessitates the use of the jump/boost.

  • lol my time is 3:05 i suck

  • And you shouldn't sidestep when you boost. Infact, you LOOSE time. And the boost gathers the rings anyways so you don't need to sidestep.

When you jumped over the cardboard box, just sidestep. As the collision slows/lags you.

At the blue springs, BOOST jump. Not jump boost. XD

At the end with the rings, I don't know how I did it one time. I boosted and got pretty far.

  • Some of this I disagree with.

You haven't seemed to gather how the box bit works. I know the collision lags you, IF it happens. But the point is that there's no TIME to sidestep without not boosting - something you cannot afford to do. A boost over the box > sidestepping without a boost around them. If you try to boost at that point, you'll do a light dash with the rings.

The blue springs are BAD to hit. You waste time jumping between them - jump boost skips them and plants you where they

  • *Continuation*

place you anyhow - only they do it without wasting time.

I think you're missing the point at the start, since one drift doesn't give you a full bar. I guess I could try it anyhow, but I don't see how one can actually get a drift bonus there, AND have enough of a boost to use the ones I still need to do get across the next bit.

  • I didn't say hit the blue springs. >_>

Also, when I play. I have enough boost time to sidestep. And its luck for me. If your fast enough, you don't have to lightdash.

  • Nah, see, it's 100% Light Dash for me now. See, the way that boost trick across the water works, unless you hit the wall first when you get across to the platform, you don't have time to boost.

It isn't a case of being fast enough - I hit the boost as soon as humanly possible and it still isn't anywhere NEAR quick enough. Sorry, but it just doesn't work.

I might try the spring jump near the end if I get a chance to get that far. I'm working on a new tech atm, so... yeah.

  • I'm confused O_o

Also I have a very ancient chun-nan video up(Though I was pretty slow) without me lightdashing.

  • Hum, I don't need to know most of these tricks and I can still rival your time.

  • Hacks? Cause you aren't getting anywhere near this time without using most of the techs here otherwise. That much I can guarantee.

  • Nope, I just know some speed/boost tricks. ^_^

  • Care to prove it? Cause I don't believe you <_<

  • I don't want to spill my secrets. D:

I say, practice with drift. Skip some circle ring.

  • There aren't any other rings that CAN be skipped. The ones at the end offer no advantage for being skipped (it's actually a bad thing to skip them, as it's nearly impossible to actually get down in the same speed and live with the stomp), the ones in the 2D section are mandatory, and the ones at the start are already skipped.

My drifting at the end might not be completely perfect yet, but it's far from poor, and it wouldn't be possible to make so much time up there.

  • *Continuation*

If you aren't going to give me proof, I'm not going to believe you, as I'm pretty sure that I have a more than good enough run to beat out those who don't use the shortcuts.

  • I didn't say I beat your score. I said mine was close. D:

    2:02 XD

  • Lol, I take things waaaaay too seriously sometimes.

I apologise if I offended you there. It's not MEANT - I just get defensive when people say "I can do this without bothering with tricks" when I know for a fact that it isn't possible :P.

2:02 is a good time though. If you rake through my original videos, you'll find that the first runs I did were around that time - this was before I learned (and was taught in a couple of cases) some extra shortcuts that helped me out a lot ^_^

  • Heres a trick, I know I can beat your time. But I don't feel like it right now. (The tricks are killing me D:)

In the beggining, once you get your first set of rings. DRIFT. You'll get a full boost bar, which you can use the spring. Homing attack and boost. Cut down like 3 seconds. XD

  • STOP POSTING COMMENTS PSYCHO!

  • You forget that I would've inevitably figured stuff like this out anyhow, simply through trialling stuff. All you really did was sped up the process :)

  • I was the ONLY person to know that trick, but no more...

I WILL DEFEAT YOU CALUM! I WILL BEAT YOUR TIME!

  • I also gave Calum the other trick where after you light dash you stomp, boost and jump.

    You owe mw soooooooooooo much.
