my Dad has a 62 Olds 98 Convertible with red leather loaded even the vent windows were powered. but the Starfire was a rarity even back then. look at that tack your revving it its not even going past 2000 rpm. thats torque. Also the quad rear lights were eye catching.
I love this car! My grandfather had a '62 Dynamic Holiday Sedan in light blue and allthough he got rid of it in 1970, I distinctly remember it. I was only 5 years old in 1970 but I love the car and wish I had one!
@StreetsideClassics Yes indeed great song 1965 by The Ab-Libs. Man I got to hand it to you guys you REALLY know how to sell cars!! I also very much enjoyed your '66 Toronado. Greetings from Montreal.
These ultra high compression Rocket engines required premium fuel .. and meant it.. Premium was 98+ octane back then. Everyone driving these wonderful cars should be aware of the dangers of running 93 oct pump gas which could (will) result in pinging and broken rings/ pistons. So, I strongly suggest to all to be prepared to buy and add STRONG octane booster to the gas tank.
The reason is: high torque at lower RPM = detonation (low oct ping, knock) esp during jack rabbit starts from a light.
@TheFRiNgEguitars YES! This is the truth! These cars were designed to run on 100 octance gas, almost like aviation gasoline! My first good car in 1965 was a 1961 Super 88 convetible. (Total babe magnet!) It had the 394 engine with a quad, and was rated at 325 horsepower. I have never owned a car with so much raw power before or since! I remember the Starfire well, but they were not easy to find even then, and the Starfire was expensive, nearly as much as a Cadillac!
did you get more then 30,000 for it
