  • thank you for the best Spit tribute I have seen so far and an excellent salute to those incredible Spitfire pilots

  • this brought a smile to my face RIP PETE AND ALL THOSE WHO THOUGHT FOR OUR COUNTRY

  • Such beautifull planes, and so great to see an old ww11 pilot back in the cockpit flying over the land he once defended. I found that touching.

  • R.I.P Ace. I show my respects!

  • Beautiful

  • It must be thrilling to pilot spitfire once more since the war. I bet it brought back memories from the youth.

The ace of skies once more.

Gives me goosebumps to even slightly imagine what that old pilot is feeling.

  • 15 minutes!!!!!!!!...no, i minute!

  • Shivers down my spine!!!!!

  • @skipsassy1 A glorious and worthy victory over their morale though. I salute you Harris.

  • How about the "battle" of Dresden - timed bombs to blow up woman and children coming out of the bomb shelters. Great courage those British bombers.

  • I love the shot at 0.19 in where he gives the thumbs-up and cuts to a wartime photo sat there at the controls of his Spitfire. A lot of brave guys came from all over the world to join the RAF in the fight. I salute them all.

  • Wow! Great video! Good luck from Polish flayers! We remember the Battle of England! ;)

  • Awesome!

  • Very touched...thank you Sir. !!

  • Wow... absolutely beautiful!

  • there should be a spitfire kept for these old boys to relive there finest hour once a year or something

  • If wings were legs, the Spit would have a nice set of gams.

  • @modelleg yeah & the whole plane looks like a well shaped female !

  • Wow this really touched my heart!

  • they were the happies days of my life. i hope he didnt mean the B of B

  • spits had only 20 seconds of ammo,15 mins of ammo the plane wouldn't be able to lift off

  • This guy handled that roll like a fucking BOSS. R.I.P. and thank you for your service for honor and country. It is VERY MUCH appreciated all over this world!

  • very good video, exciting

  • we remember ,let us never forget .rest in piece Bob Doe sir.we owe them for the way we live today .

  • Awesome! Thank´s from Brasil!

  • Thank you for my freedom all the heroes, especially the ones that paid the ultimate price.

  • look at his rare pic when the vid begins: he shot down seven nazi at least! well done

  • Is it not strange that a country that fought off the Germans almost single handed, sacrificed so much for freedom and democracy would end up a haven for liberalism and socialism as it is today. Every sacrifice that was made then only to be turned into a social basket case that will get worse and worse. It makes one wonder if America will be next and must ask were all the lives lost in WW II wasted?

  • Nice vid. Greetings from Germany.

  • Imagine what this man must have felt or thought in that moment.

  • I salute and thank Bob Doe, RIP

  • Beautiful

  • If ever one series belong on a dvd ..in Blue -Ray as well its this one . Wonderful and so well shot & edited ...great concept and the flying scenes are super. Thanks for posting . TCUNC76

  • @JaleelJohanson62 Thanks for your kind answer!!!

@pramboy09 Wow! I didn't know that! That is surprising! How do you know of Women pilots in the RAF? One never hears about any in History Features! One should do a Feature about them and get some for interviews! That would be interesting!

What a shame, should they never have been mentioned in any Wartime Propaganda Films. Wouldn't it be interesting to get such footage!

  • Gods, I'm only 22 and this video really teared me up. Absolutely beautiful music.

  • 1 THING SPOILT IT A BLOODY WOMAN AT THE CONTYOL;S OF A SPITFIRE

  • @shanondor actually plenty of woman have been on the controls of spitfires before any man got their hands on them! many were ferry pilots during the war delievering them to their alloted squadron.

  • @shanondor

Perhaps you ought to learn about the work of the Air Transport Auxillary during WW2 before posting that comment....

  • why havent there been more RAF pilots from the battle of britain allowed to fly that special airplane . they saved us all. without them where would we hae deployed for normandy or the 8th helping to light some fires in germany . thanks to all of you from me 44years of age to the greatest generation of free people . loved this and the heartfelt stories ... simply in a word extaordinary

  • thanks that was a very good show and they were beautiful airplanes

  • those old pilots never forget,, its like rididng a bike for them

  • Wonderful series! Wonderful plane! Brilliantly told story! How those kids did their job is beyond compare and beyond comprehending. Not to forget the skilled tactical leadership! Great pilots! Great men! Brave nation! And yes, it sure was a moral duty to fight the nazis.

    I (german) salute You!

  • @papafoxtrott And I as an American salute you as well. Perhaps one day the world will salute one another and war will fade into the inevitable obselesance of history.

  • Thank you so much for this wonderful series. Wonderful footage, wonderful men...and a wonderful aircraft.

  • Remarkable series & a real tribute to those individuals of that generation who took on Hilter's evil dreams and defeated them. This needs to be put out on Blue-Ray for sure. Great series, remarkable photography & editing..... gets an Emmy in my book and more ! TC

  • lol isnt that the truth

    great comments guys

    S!

  • @wwiiolsnipet This was a history channel production and featured here in the US on cable tv. They said you had only 15 minutes of ammo in the plane so you had to shoot really short split second bursts. Too bad you did'nt have a nose cannon. What caliber where your machine gun?

  • @norb1937 the spitfires used .303 machine guns and 20mm cannons

  • @wwiiolsnipet You certainly did not carry a lot of ammo in the spitfire.

  • @wwiiolsnipet not the early ones.

  • @extere huh? if your talking about Spitfires having .303s and 20mms then yes you are correct the early, Mk 1s, ones only used 8 .303s vs later in the war where they used 4 .303s and 2 20mms

  • @wwiiolsnipet just an fyi later in the Mk IXe's they had 4 .50 cal's and 2 .20mm cannons

  • @wwiiolsnipet p51 mustang had 6 maw duces . m2. aka browning 50 cal

  • @norb1937 15 seconds of ammo, 8 .303s or a scattering of 303s and 20 mm Hispanos or up to 12 guns 20mm 303s and 50 cal Brownings. Depending on the Mark.

  • @norb1937 That's 15 seconds dude not 15 minutes. They would have given an arm for 15 minutes of ammo.

  • @norb1937 More like 15 seconds of continuous fire, not minutes...

  • @norb1937 15 minutes of ammo? That sounds way too much. It's more like 20 seconds of ammo that they needed to fire carefully in order to stay in the fight for as long as they could.

  • @norb1937 i think you meant to say 15 seconds of ammo,not 15 minutes!

  • @wwiiolsnipet On my cable tv I have two history channels. History and history international. On the History international we get repeatedly the Battle of Britain, The Battle of the Atlantic, the fight for Russia. etc. Hitler's secret allies, Hitlers Bodyguards which were in the thousands. Churchill had very few.Since there were no threats against his life. We call History International The Hitler Channel.

  • @norb1937 All that stuff is posted on YouTube, many documentaries about the war including German and Russian ones sometimes with English subtitles. Some people go to those places and post videos themselves, I've talked to people in Belgium, England, Poland, Germany and Russia about the war. I only get 1 History channel and I like some of it, but it has too many commercials and the documentaries aren't as complete as what I can find here.

  • @clintonearlwalker Yeah and besides that we have the Military channel which has an equal amount of war stuff on it. Not to mention the commercials. The station has to make money thats why the commercials. They have to bill the sponsors. Thats why cable companies get away with showing reduntant crap. They get to charge the sponsors for it.

  • @norb1937 I've seen all those History channels, but we only get 1 here. Like I said, you can find out almost anything about the war between YouTube and Wikipedia. That's without looking deeper into the probably millions of war related websites. I've watched many documentaries about probably every single battle of the war. If you are interested in the Holocaust, the best I've seen here on YouTube is "Kitty Return to Auschwitz". I spend many hours watching these things.

  • Utterly superb. Almost makes me want to live forever. If I have but one regret, it's that the lady Spitfire pilot isn't my wife. If she hasn't had more than her fair share of regrets, one would be that this never happened. Regardless of this, or that, every moment of this documentary enchanted me.

  • These old eagles will never pass away..they will only fly different skies...

    RIP, Bob..

  • Great way of honouring those who fought for your freedom. respect.

  • This is the way to tell the story of a great plane and the men that flew them

  • This is the way to tell the story of a great plane and the men that few them

  • The grandeur of the skies isn't only because of their size, but because of those who once flew them .

  • What a great series about the Spitfire and a magnificant quality. I have downloaded all your parts and made a DVD of it. This DVD titled Spitfire Ace I have added to my WWII DVD collection.

  • Thank you for this series. It is with the deepest gratitude I will remember these pilots. If it hadn't been for their heroic effort I would probably not be alive today, as my father would very likely not have survived the war in the occupied Netherlands.

  • Sadly, Pete Brothers died on 18 December 2008. To him and his comrades, we owe everything we have. They will never be forgotten.

  • this is beautiful. rest in peace, what a man!

  • Bob Doe.

    Flying through the sky forever.

    Rest in peace.

  • It is my belief that God intervened directly into the outcome of WWII, which he has done in the past, but only a few times, because generally He leaves humans to run their affairs as they please. However, God was not going to allow a Nazi-dominated Europe lasting for the next 1000 years. It was Him who breathed the Holy Spirit into Reginald Mitchell so that the Spitfire could be conceived. The absence of this airplane would have probably altered the outcome of the conflict.

  • @monsterzeroJr Not to mention the way matters unfolded at the battle of Coral sea and Midway. I believe that God intervened there as well. I think you're right.

  • is pete brothers still alive ?

  • @DROLL30 He died on December the 18th, 2008 at the age of 91. May he rest in peace and never be forgotten, like his friends and mates who put their lives on the line (and beyond) to save Great Britain from Hitler and the Nazis. I actually consider this documentary as one of the very best I've seen so far, so a great thanks goes to the uploader.

    Highly respectful greetings from Germany!

  • rip bob doe

  • good show old chap

  • Bob Doe passed away at 21st February 2010. Rest in piece. At least, he managed to fly the Spitfire once again, after 50 years. God bless you Sir.

Those video series are really great. Thanks for posting.

  • @nanchuanwushu1 My condolences to his family. He was great and what he did for his country and the entire world was great. God bless you Bob Doe and thank you!

  • @nanchuanwushu1 i love the fact that he lived all this time, got in the spitfire for one last time....and passed....its like he held on just for that great moment !! great life's story.

  • @nanchuanwushu1 Thank you sir

  • The old geezer's still got it. :)

  • I have to say that having flown Buccaneers and F4's I am still in awe of those guys - little more than schoolkids - who took on odds of 4 and 5 to one all those years ago and held their own.

Okay, seaborne ops were always gonna be more hairy by their very nature, but the pressure on these fellers must have been extreme, no matter who they were or where they came from.

    We owe them!

    JB.

  • That Vid put shivers down my spine i watched evry vid and this1 made them all worth watching love the way he takes the controls of the plane after so long and is a natural at that!! what an awsome guy respect to the few!!

  • beautiful plane

  • What a ridiculously innane comment........Congratulations on your banal stupidity-go to the bottom of the class.

  • Really does bring the pride back to Britian!!! Thank you to all Men and Women what ever nationality , who fought and lost their lives for our freedom and World peace!!

  • God bless our valant dead and may thier legacy forever live

  • Brave pilots all led by a great Kiwi, AVM Sir Keith Park. Get his statue put in Trafalgar square and BLOODY LEAVE IT THERE!!! Because he was from the colonies and rubbed Leigh-Mallory and Dowding up the wrong way means one of England's greatest heroes ever is forgotton!!!

  • @Tones303, Please believe me, within the RAF, Park is very much venerated for what he did not only in the BoB, but also in Malta. It has nothing to do with the fact he was a Kiwi. LM is now seen as what he actually was; a vainglorious bumptious fool. BTW Park and Dowding saw absolutely eye to eye throughout the build-up and the Battle and BOTH were, disgracefully, shunned by the Air Ministry after the Battle - in effect, written out of its history. Now, both are seen as decisive to the victory

  • never in mylife have been so proud to be british!!! if only the immigrant skum knew what our boys had sacrificed for the freedom of the world the world would be a better place. GOD BLESS THE FEW AND THANKYOU YOU BRAVE MEN!!!

  • do not forget that there are many polish immigrants whose grandparents were fighting as well :-)

  • Well thats put me in my place!

At the end of the day i couldnt giv a toss about the poles its the muslim, lazy coward cunts that i despise with theyre IEDs that are ripping our soldeirs to shreds in this modern warfare!!! we should have never given up the British empire! i mean a st george flag is seen as threatening and its pussys like you that are all to quick to condone this slanderous behavior!!!

  • Sir Winston put it best: Never has so much been owed by so many to so few. All of us who live free today can point to them, and we must remember their sacrifice.

  • That was fantastic, full of respect for those guys also had tears in my eyes.

  • respect

  • tears are rolling down my eyes, watching

    this wonderful veteran of the

Battle of Britain, taking to the skies again

  • Wonderful, touching and a spirit not easy to find in today's world.

  • Awesome. Thanks for posting. It was great to see it. Espescially as an American.
