Its about the madness of Salieri... jealous of Mozart's creativity... so he wishes he could of written the requiem and is haunted by the melodies... So it is about Salieri NOT Mozart...
Ok, Mozart was BIGGER, and he worked A LOT MORE on his music... ;), but antonio Salieri is a natural born talent, creator and composer. He had the style in him, he had the physical, everything that Mozart did'n't have naturally but learned VERY hardly by his father's help. And no, Mozart music is not perfect, it's desiquilibred sometimes... To much for nothing, sometimes very stupid, NOT perfect.
It's sad to see the memory of a great man maligned by perfomances such as this. I'm not critizing the performance, it is presented very nicely, I just don't like the material. It's unfair to make a mockery of the life of the man. Salieri was a great composer.
Salieri didn't kill Mozart, he didn't write the ditty we heard in this skit and was well liked by most everyone, including Beethoven. His music lacked the majesty of Mozart, Beethoven and Bach, and so what. He was wildly popular at his peak, much more so than Mozart and expecially Bach, and he envied no one.
Most people who trash him haven't heard his music. It lacks the structure of Mozart but has some amazingly brilliant moments woven in here and there. He caught the spirit of his times.
To add to your comment: look at the Damrau video of Salieri's Europa Reconosciuta-- Salieri was an amazing composer, with few equals (or betters) then or since. He was viciously defamed after his death due to Pushkin's story (the basis for "Amadeus") which was just too good a tale to ever be contradicted with facts.

this is brilliant.i had tears running down my face, as i felt salieri's madness, then, he remembers his welcoming tune for mozart, he brought me out of the sadness. 1-you have to be educated enough to understand the story, 2- you must go through a little madness yourself and 3-in these times, more people are not going to understand because there parents didn't understand, i love you all, we are all one by being human beings, we will always have that.
Utter Madness, he as Salieri is haunted by the genuis of Mozart!Lindsay originally did this at a gala in Italy it was one of the last ones Rudi performed at.
With Lindsay you either love him or hate him there is no middle ground. What he does is Pure Theatre going back to the time of Comedia del arte. Not your normal dance. He has been creating for over 50 years. I am sorry you dont like it, there are many who do. David Bowie is only the performer he is as he worked with Lindsay in the 60s. Kate Bush too. Dance is about moving the soul. it about your own passion. It takes all styles.
I am a dancer that admires and appreciates contemporary work. I didn't think I would like this but I gave it a try and watched it several times anyway . . . I was right . . . I hated it.

Salieri realizes that he's inferior to Mozart and he is pissed!!! I can empathize. "Why did God give me the Ear..but not the talent"
