  • want 1 O.O

  • @rescuehero942 Tiger products have failed mostly because they kept their things closed to their services, like the VideoNow disks, and so on... Also, this would have been best seller in 1994 but not in 2004. Also GameCom was a great idea, but premature, they kept the online services closed to them, and the final thing was worse than a Beta testing device while could be as good as been based to an actual PDA with game playing ability.

  • This thing was a great idea back then but it didn't sell. I could use it to do multiple tasks today but unfortunately i can't use it with WIFI,Ethernet or anything like that, and the OS doesn't give hope, would be happy even if i could check my mails with it,for the heck of it... Great idea, bad outcome product of it.

  • Review the Tiger VideoNow Personal Video Player. I Swear it's better than Game.com and R-Zone.

  • Imagine if this handled full on Crysis? XD I can't imagine what would happen to the system.

  • Clearly it doesn't have enough blast processing to handle Sonic.

  • Awesome review. I'm actually watching this instead of going to a party. haha But you have a double jointed finger and that freaks me out. - Peace

  • I had one of these fuckin' things. It suuuucked! I only ever had two games for it before I sold it at a garage sale: Lights Out (which came with the system) and Batman & Robin.

  • lol you got a repro nintendo campus challenge

  • I was going to buy one of these when I was kid but went with the Gameboy Pocket instead. :D

  • Aw man! I had a Game.com! First purchase ever! LOL

  • You just have an NES Campus Challenge cartridge laying around...nice.

  • I"m supper annoyed that I don't have a propper eMate stylus

  • I had both version of the system in jr. high. I won the smaller version through a contest held by Tiger along with Resident Evil. Definitely a major flop and the games were horrible.

  • Gamecom. Active.

  • eh, i remember these. Not too great....wasn't Duke Nukem on this?

  • @DrunkenMasterWarrior the worst port of Duke Nukem

  • What a crappy console. It was released in 1997 but has the graphics of something released in 1987. I would have rather gotten an old used Gameboy instead of buying a new one of these.

  • OMG, even such a simple game as Defender looks like shit on this console! I will rather play Protector on Vectrex: it's black and white too, but at least it's true vector graphics and the screen is bigger

  • i remember these i won one from a buysell composition i got first place - i remember they came with 2 games one was lights which you used to get in a hand held you press the lights till they all go out and there was a batman one that was cool back then arrr memories cheerz for showing this x

  • Oh man, I remember that thing. When I was younger my cousins had one and I always thought it was cool .But now when I look at it, I think, "Wow. That really sucked!" lol.

  • wow i never knew about this! epic! thanks for the post!

  • Great review!

  • my brother had a gamecom with duke nukem it was awesome

  • This thing came out in 1997?! Now wonder it flopped! It looks like it came out in the late 80s. And it can't even keep up frame-rate on a B&W system. The Game Gear came out in '91 for crying out loud.

  • man i had 1 of these in the 90's, i also had the Atari Lynx and all other handhelds that were out when i was a kid

  • This tiger co. Should have released the Gizmondo lol

  • lol i had one of these, i had internet access on mine too.

  • I miss my gamecom.

I could never beat the batman game q-q

  • I Heard Theres a Night In To Dreams Port XD And You Know What It Is Crap XD XD

  • 0:51 i see a repo of nintendo campus challenge in the background! someone has good taste in games.

  • This Sonic Jam makes Sonic Genesis on the GBA look like the best port ever.

  • A bit .. it doesn't looks as good! Console wise I mean it looks a bit .. cheap.

Still if the games are fine! I love buying older consoles and games..cheap and fun!

  • Thats great but will it blend?

  • Thumbs up if you also owned one of these

  • What what this got touchscreen first handheld to get touchscreen or what?

  • @gmsupr

Yep, SEGA originally planned for the Nomad to have a touch screen, but at the time it would've cost over $250.

  • and it sucked......but i did have about 7 games for it...so i gave it a chance

  • i didn't know the pocket pro was rare, i actually bought one brand new for 10 bucks a couple years ago lol

  • whats the nes game

  • Well from something from 1897 it sure had nice graphics.

  • @Blaxxx2 THEY HAVE VIDEO GAMES IN 1897??!?!?!?!

  • @gigaty123

No, the first video game console was the Magnavox Odyssey, made in 1972.

  • @gigaty123 no but Nintendo was around for 8 years then

  • My Game.com came with Batman & Robin and Williams' Arcade Classics, but later, I also bought Lights Out and Fighters Megamix. Great video, John!

And not to mention, they only sold about 300,000 systems. That's pretty bad.

  • I have one (first model, with stylus) with two games ("Lights Up" and "Batman & Robin". Not anywhere near as good as the gameboy, but a decent novelty nevertheless.

  • i both dnt know how this didnt crash tiger electronics single handedly and also how they had big enough balls to release another version of it a few years later

  • They had Metal Gear I think.

  • @mp4podcastDOTcom actually they planned MG but was canceled

  • @PranksAreUs83 Thank god! Apparently there was a few screens shown years ago, but they havent re-appeared since!

  • @8comicbooknerd9 Yea Thank Goodness For That. If We Got a MGS For Game.com, then Solid Snakes Legacy would of Been RUINED!

  • I had a model 1 I bought cheap towards the end. I had a ton of games for it and none of them were even worth trying to play other than for nostalgia value.

  • the games on sonic jam are not full games there just 2 worlds

  • omg are you wearing a portland beavers cap?

  • @jtpheonix1998 Yeah I went to Portland for work and went to a Beavers game while I was there.

  • omg are you wearing a portland beavers cap?

  • and here i thought i knew every single handheld.................

  • I would definitely get the Pocket Pro.... Much more worth it.

  • I have a model that is the same size as the pocket pro but with no backlight. What's that model called?

  • wow so ds and psp ripped off from this.. haha a menu button and touch screen

  • isnt it called the R-Zone

  • @uldeskoolgamer The R-Zone was a different system by Tiger.

  • @Gamester81 can u please review the r-zone :))

if u have it of course

  • nintendo championship

  • How much do you think a Colored Pocket Pro would fetch on eBay, John/Gamester?

Also, you should try the YiuTube partner program, you could make money out of your videos.

  • @VirtualPixel

Hmm I'm sure the Pocket Pro will still probably fetch easily around $50+ since the model one is much more common. As for the Partner program I've been turned down from YT because they said my videos/channel isn't "original enough". =(

  • That's a shame.

I haven't seen many other collectors' channels around like yours, only DeanotheLegend87, and I haven't seen him upload a video since five months ago.

I definitely have to get one of these. Definitely make a great add to my collection (:

  • @Gamester81 nice to see you've become a partner now!!!!

  • @SuperMLSA Hey thanks, I really appreciate it.

  • The mystery game is NES Campas challenge

  • In my old videos I show this thing a little bit. But I sold it off because I no longer had any interest in it. Awesome video man, I honestly didn't know about the model 2.

  • What is your favorite?

    SM3, pinbot or dr.mario?

I loved the real pinbot pinball.

  • What was the battery life of those things?

  • Model 1 - I'd say, with it having a black-and-white screen with no backlight, and running off four AAs like the original Game Boy, it probably had a good battery life like the old GB.

    Model 2 - Not sure.

  • Do you own one or are you just guessing?

  • haha-, that little unit is pretty neat. If it was color it might not have been half bad at all, amazing how they have such popular titles. Not bad at all aside from what you mentioned

  • Retrozone Nintendo Campus Challenge, great game!

  • I Had the purple one!

  • I would love to see more gameplay footage, primarly of MKT and the rest of the games you have.

  • Good vid. Primitive stuff :)

  • I have one of these. It only really sees action when we want trivia on the go, but it doesn't see much else...

  • is the game nintendo Campus challenge?

  • the nes cart dont fit in, lol

  • campus challenge repro! sweet-!

  • The sound on this system is unbearable

  • I really wish that Nintendo would make it so you can have 2 games at once on their next handheld

  • @Snip3rFire Can't you have a DS game and a gameboy game in at the same time on the Nintendo DS? I could be wrong, because I don't have one.

  • @KnightOfTheBloodWolf I was thinking about 2 current gen games (possibly similar to the zodiac? - I forget), but yes, you can have a DS and a GBA game in the older systems at the same time.

  • Anyone looking for a very easy system to get a complete game library for this is it. The only game that will give you any kind of trouble finding will be a complete copy of Wheel of Fortune 2, other than that most games can be bought complete for a few bucks. Just like you mentioned John, Sonic is TERRIBLE on this thing, unplayable.

  • lol at resident evil 2 , man that looked slow. great review john, were these systems only released in america ?

  • Another great video, my friend. Love the obscure system reviews. Keep 'em up!

  • A interesting system. Never knew this existed.

It definitely has some great titles for it. Too bad they are so sloooooooow.

  • awesome i always wanted to buy one do you have the tiger r-zone????

  • hi frand

  • OMFG is that a nintendo campus challenge reproduction cart i see i see at 2:14

  • Yes! It is

  • I think you just spoiled everyone the fun of finding the secret game -_-

  • Is that a repo of campus challenge

  • NES Campus Challenge yay I found it!

if I wasnt supposed to say I found it sorry

  • Good god what an awful system.

and Tiger had the audacity to make a remake of this thing?

  • i've had a model 1 in the box for a while but never played it. great video, this almost makes me glad i've not played it yet.

  • great video

  • sonic on a non sega console???

  • hey there was a Mario game on Atari.....yeah let that one sink in.

  • 0.27 i thought i got a facebook message lol

  • The graphics arent too bad but the sound is godawful.

  • I played one years ago at Toys R Us that was on display. It was pretty damn bad.

  • Yes! Right on. Lol. I got it right. Great review there John, as always. I didn't even know about the other versions. It's so interesting how these failing hardware units tend to go out with a bang. Hehe. Even after bad sales, they still managed to produce more different versions. Hey, the way I see it, that's more rare items for which to collect. Lol. =)

  • epic fail system.nice review

  • how did mortal kombat look like on it?

  • Nintendo campus Challenge is the nes game

  • yea saw that too

  • THIS! IS! SUCK!

  • I've one with 5 or 6 games. Got it in 2002 from a friend. I did play hours of solitaire and the arcade collection cartridge.

My friend did keep one model with a light and the game lite on... I don't have lite on.

  • DUKE3D ftw

  • i think that resident evil 2 is on this system

  • Resident Evil Gaiden for Game Boy Colour was great I must say. Played it for a bit on emulator. Wish I knew it was out when it was. I don't have it anymore as I was only trying it out for a day.

  • I won't be adding this to my collection either, but I had an amazing day as a retro gamer...I found a silver gamecube with two controllers, mario sunshine for 15 bucks at an spca shop lol...to top it off, I bought zelda wind waker afterwards used for 20 bucks, only to then discover when I got home that it also came with ocarina of time and master quest (I hadn't noticed it was the limited ed) so about 35 bucks for all that..obviously some kid's mom chucked it out

  • It is interesting that it is a 5th-generation console, but it has a lot of features like you would see on a 7th-generation console like internet. and PC connectivity.

  • cool that you have the second edition of the gamecom. I hear it is rare. I have the first version of the system and mine too is missing the stylus. I do have the modem though.

  • ARRRG THE SOUND!!! ITS TERRIBLE!!!!!

  • Man, I remember when that thing first came out and thinking "Who would buy that stupid thing?" Now I know my gut reaction was correct! Haha, what a poor system...

  • your hidden game was nintendo campus internatinal

  • Well that's one system I won't bother putting in my collection lol ;o)

  • cool games , they suffered so badly without the backlight , pocket pro got it right man

  • Very nice man , def a part of our gaming history

  • nintendo campus challenge

  • Interesting, never knew there was a better 2nd model.

  • nes campus challenge is the mystery game

  • nintendo campus challenge!

  • Awesome review. I did one a little while ago myself. I really liked the system as a piece of hardware. Aside from the screen refresh rate, which was atrocious, it was actually a really nice portable video game system.

Unfortunately, as you said, all the games, even the licensed stuff, was all developed in-house. And they were not very good at all.

A shame too, it could have been a legit Game Boy competitor otherwise.

  • Man, i would look so cool riding the bus with that piece of trash

  • BTW Great NES cart there (Nintendo Campus Challenge!)

  • /the hidden game is Campus Challenge

  • Wow, and this wasn't a success?

    LOL

  • Great video as always.

I could never understand how the resolution and refresh rate of this screen could be so bad. I mean it's almost like they never tested it...

I would have more fun playing those original handheld tiger games from the late 80's and early 90's based of NES games.

  • this has to be the worst looking system ever in my opinion

  • I had the pocket one with duke nukem

  • a handheld that have a touchscreen online and can hold two games lol remind me of the nintendo ds

  • this thing would cause me to go blind

  • I have one of these (the Mk1), and have to say, it's the most horrible handheld I've ever had the misfortune of using. Mostly down to the screen. It just doesn't work. Sludgy, slow, blobby.... yuck!

Did I mention that I don't like it? ... lol

The idea was actually really good. Such a shame they messed up the execution.

  • excellent review!

  • That doesn't look fun at all. lol

  • Mine was see through purple.

  • came out in 1997 and plays in black in white? Know wonder why it failed.

  • game gear & Lynx came out about the same time with color screens & were battery suckers. LED technology wasn't quite where it needed to be for a system like this & the addition of a primitive color screen would have jacked the price up beyond the reach of anyone & would have driven the failure of the system even quicker. sad reality is that any company that wanted to produce a system like this @ that point in time was committing suicide.

  • yeah i remember the handheld..it was alright i had resident evil 2..lol.

  • I had this system it was awesome!
