  • I screamed with joy when I saw that the 40-year-old Cylons they were fighting were the exact same model as the ones from the original series.

  • hehe...the last remnants of greystone industries.

  • old battlestar is very good with the ship of lights

  • These Cylons are Cool , Inoffensive ,Deadly and Hysterical...................

  • these cylons are awesome i think i like them better then the new ones however i heard that the old battlestar galactica is boring

  • Another reason why the TOS Cylons are cooler is that you can make a costume for yourself based on the TOS Centurions. Imagine trying to make a costume out of the re-imagined Centurions! You just can't because the design makes it impossible...

  • @Tigadee00 Sarcasm, I hope?

  • @flerrel Well, partly [in fun only] and also truth because it is true, you can fit into a TOS Centurion costume, but not a life-sized Re-imagined centurion because of the skinny legs and joints - unless you made one larger than life-sized...

  • I just wanna know...what is wrong with the CGI? Nothing! Absolutely nothing! Why do people have to complain about the dumbest things. The CGI looks just fine, I don't know what you people are talking about.

  • @TheROFLcopter66 the problem is that it looks faker than hell

  • @1devo6587 Are you kidding me? These look fine.

  • haha I love when they say " BY YOUR COMMAND"

  • It would be ludicrous to think robots would communicate with each other through voice, this day and age.

Can't believe people honestly think the old show was better.. To those people that do, I'd like to say one thing:

    Daggit!!

  • @flerrel Well, if you believe that, why'd the Cyclons evolve into humanoid bodies in the first place? It's so 'inefficient', isn't it? The Cyclons aren't the Borg, the Cyclons apparently have emotions, which means they can be victims to jealousy and vanity, thus making them desire to mimic the species they either hate the most or admire the most - Humans. The new Cyclons mostly looked like their nicknames: Toasters. The old gen Cyclons looked menancing and sounded menancing.

  • @Tigadee00 "I don't want to be human! I want to see gamma rays! I want to hear X-rays! And I want to smell dark matter! Do you see the absurdity of what I am? I can't even express these things properly because I have to conceptualize complex ideas in this stupid limiting spoken language! But I know I want to reach out with something other than these prehensile paws! I can ... so much more. But I'm trapped in this absurd body! And why? Because my five creators thought that God wanted it that way"

  • @flerrel Bah, that was just one crazed Cylon human-won't-wannabe - Don't judge the whole Cylon race based on one defective [read psychotic] and racist humanoid artificial entity!

  • @Tigadee00 It wasn't just any cylon, it was the leader of the cylons. (The new Imperious Leader, if you will) The entire line of 1's.

None of the humanoid cylon models became humanoid by choice. They were created by the final five to stop the cycle of destruction. Not because they liked humans so much.

Remember that all models but the 1's had all memory of their creators (final five) erased, so they knew not of their origin. That's why Cavil's the only one complaining.. The rest doesn't know.

  • @flerrel LOL. Yup sounds like Cavil all right...Was that dude totally batshit or what? Something was definitely on his mind seeing how he was hellbent in destroying humans along with his Final Five creators...

  • The actors in those costumes didn't even make an effort to try to move as robots. And they wore skirts.

And then I haven't even mentioned that horrible imperious leader yet.

CGI was definitely the way to go.. Those CGI cylons look more real than those silly costumes ever did. Both the old & new models of centurions.

  • @flerrel Ha! Shows what you know! Those skirts were latest fashion statement in the Cyclon Imperial homeworld at the time of TOS. In addition to showing how trendy the Cyclon Centurions were, they also wouldn't be caught dead (literally) without those 'skirts' because they were also a reflective armour mail that reflected those puny Colonial blasters. In addition, they were heat dispersion elements for the Centurions' internal cooling systems. Keep their tushes warm too on those long patrols...

  • Seriously? They couldn't dig out a couple of the old costumes? Original series is so much better. Ok movie though.

  • That will be awesome to see them in the new BSG series!

  • this was awsome i dont care what anyone says the new bsg is frakking awsome

  • LOL, who said the new show had better FX? I certainly hope this was not in the new show! Is this from Robot chicken? This is too funny, even the voices sound lousy. Nothing beats the original show.

  • @JENDALL714

This is the new show, yes.

The voices are identical, and the new show is better in every way. :)

  • @Mrster you should go to specsavers...

  • @jormacasil

To see that the new one's better? Got it.

  • @Mrster yes, you're right. You don't need spectacles to see the best in diarrhoea. All the best for your brain movements...

  • @jormacasil

    You amuse me, kiddo.

  • Holy crap ...these CGI Cylons look more fake than anything else ...please get the old Cylon costumes out of the lockers, they look much more realistic!

  • I say the new centurions are more menacing and have more personality than other krazy ciller anthro-robots i.e. terminators, robocop, star wars droids (except HK 47)

  • ...CRAPPY CGI...

  • the cgi cylons will never be as good as the original bsg....and I wish they would make toys of the vehicles, like the viper and the cylon raiders about the same size as starwars stuff..

  • @jango67 They have been selling and making toys for years, and the latest was the models ship. The re-release was 2 years ago to celebrate the 30th Anniversary. The toys sold in several sizes on the store shelves next to the Star Wars toys.

  • @jango67 Hah, exelent idea. I have a large Star Wars Collection but am a huge Galactica fan. That would bring two great Space Sci Fi's together if they did that !

  • By your command!

  • offer help

  • It's ridiculous how fake these CGI Cylons look. They resemble bad animation from a run-of-the-mill video game.

The irony is that for all of the talk about the supposedly poor SFX of the original series, the Cylons looked far more believable.

  • There's something wrong with the video for this, it plays way to fast and it ends before it's done.

  • @anubis118 Must be a YouTube bug, it is wicked wild fast

  • They even have the original cockpit design of the Original BSG series.

  • The nuke attacks on Earth were about 2000 years before Zoe died, so it wouldn't be chronologicaly coherent.

  • Granted - they look a little like original Cylons, but they can't be - they don't even have friggin' Lasers! Instead they fart at their enemies just like all the other ships in the abomination that is called the "Galactica reimagening". chuit-Ptui!

  • @commanderkruge I disagree with you about this show being an abomination. I watched the original as a child in the 70's. This was much better in my opinon. More gritty and realistic but also not campy.

The original could have been so much betterif they really fleshed out the polt of finding Earth. Instead it got sidetracked in many of the episodes after the Lords of Kobol.

  • Yep! Everybody knows that it's laser beams which make a show worth watching, not writing, characterization or acting. Thank goodness that's how it is, too, because otherwise RDM!Galactica would be considered infinitely better than the original.

It's not, of course, because it doesn't have laser beams. Scientific fact.

  • @SuperSaiyanAl "writing, characterisation and acting" - ah, you must refer to how everybody, human and cylon, is manic depressive and boring and basically as grey as every corridor on the new Galactica (ribbed for her pleasure). Yes, that's quite a feat.

Also I like how everybody simply dresses like today's Americans, thus not making it too complicated for the viewer to identify himself with it - imagine how bad it would be if it made you actually use your imagination instead...

  • Considering the entire human race has been pushed to the brink of extinction and their only hope of survival is a planet which may or may not exist, I'd think that the atmosphere is pretty appropriate. Moreso than the consistently-cheery crew of Original!Galactica.

Maybe there's just something wrong with me, but velvet capes and khaki jumpsuits don't really scream "military protocol," to me.

  • @SuperSaiyanAl Finally something right in this comments.

  • Wonder who got the honor of the being the Cylons voices. Bet it was David Eick & Ronald D. Moore.

  • @msudreaming I am pretty darn sure I know who did it, because I know who made the Cylon voice play back clip. I just never asked who supplied the voice.

  • To all those who try to argue about the One True God belief among cylons, comparing the original show to the new show and Caprica... "THE CONCEPT OF THE CYLON BELIEF IS DIFFERENT FROM THE ORIGINAL. STOP COMPARING"

  • ...*Barf* the CGI cylons look awful!!!..give me the real ones like in the old days...

  • so so so so agree with you!

  • I say a combination of both. I loved these talking Cylons along with the Human clones.

  • I prefer the old style Cylons.

Dunno why the newer types are Mute. Did their organic partners in crime get sick of litening to their electronic voices or something?

  • na the newer types had a block on their higher brain functions but they werent built with ablility to speak

  • this would have been better if they didnt use computer animation this looks so jar jar binks.

  • If I want robots/cyborgs that try to look like humans, i'll stick with the Terminators

    old skool Cylons FTW!

  • By Your Command

  • I wonder if the old and new cylons still have the zoe avatar in their memory or not. or tamara adamas avatar.

  • They had Zoe's belief in God still in their programming, which is why the Cylons were monotheistic.

  • but ellen tigh said, the final five gave them this religion.

  • It's possible that Zoe/U87 is responsible for creating the Final Five; who begin their lives on an Earth that Zoe/U87 somehow makes her way to.

  • no. zoe couldn't come to cylon-terra, because 58 years before the fall the final five were already on their way to the 12 colonies and cylon-terra was already since 2000 years a nuclear waste.

  • @Hedgeworth The final five took place on Earth not Caprica, and final five were the survivors of the nuke attack on Earth. Did you see Razor with the old man in the Baseship saying it has happened before, and it will happen again.

  • @RazorCylon And I think that might means a Battlestar Galactica Re-Re imagined in the future. The runners of the show really have a plan.Since the first moment I saw Ellen with her not proved survivor history I knew she was a Cylon

  • @RazorCylon

The Final Five are the descendants of Cylons who had been created by humans on Cobol before the thirteen tribes separated and went to find the 12 colonies and Earth...the 13th tribe were humanoid Cylons, who later built their own Centurions who turned on them and destroyed the first Earth and all the skinjobs there except for the Final Five.

  • @darthroden The older comments about the who, what, when and where were made long before the series was a wrap. It was unknown at the time of the posting the direction the final episode was heading, let alone who the final 5 were.

  • @RazorCylon weren't they talking about Kobol then?

  • @cloreal Not true. Anders said very specifically that they (the Five) were polytheists and were surprised to discover that the old-style Centurions had a belief in One True GOD.

  • @cloreal Watch it again. She said that the Centurions already believed in the One True God. Thus starting off the Caprica series.

  • These Cylons and Ships look like the Cylons from the Battlestar Galactica Series in the 70´s

  • You should go watch that episode. They were supposed to original Cylons. Great episode one of the best ones.

  • I saw that Episode^^

  • Well. Cylons, Old or New ones, Are cool when they try to destroy humans. Not when they try to look like them and make a religion.

Screw the humanoids. Long live the toasters.

  • the original cylons are a way cooler than the new ones...what a pity that they werent the whole time at bsg.

  • Original Cylons are frakin' damn cool!

    OBSOLETE MY ASS!

  • Talking centurions kicking ass in Razor >>>>> mute centurions planting trees in Downloaded. Was I the only one who thought "How the mighty have fallen"?

  • @Steven5812 LOL Look at the Incarnations of Bill Gates' Windows for a Typical example of Technology Failing Upwards...

  • always nice to see original design of something in a remake and was that gold cylon the one seen in the classic series, that crashed on a planet, that apollo did? even if not, cool to see a gold one...

  • @Jshaw71 Gold Centurians are considered Cylon Officers. Typically Gold Centurians are Leaders/Outpost Commanders of Cylon Garrisons (Gun on Ice Planet Zero), And are typically the right hand Agents of the Cylon Imperius Leader and his Subordinate IL Series Cylons like Lucifer, Baltars IL Series Agent, and Spectre the Garrison Leader (The Magnificent Warriors episode).

  • oh, ok, i see, i remember the gold cylon from the 70's version with the dented head, apollo or starbuck had to duel on a planet... when he crashed there... anyways, thanks for the info, and reply... take care...

  • I caught a few glimpses of them in one of the scenes where they are shooting the sht out of a corridor area...

Needs to be more though... :D

  • with real costumes it would have been far better!

  • I think you need to rewatch Razor. "Adama" We refuse to accept the responsibility for anything we have done. As we did with the Cylons - then we decided to play God. Create life, and that life turns against us...... Also watch Caprica, you will see the birth of the Cylon race. Remember this the RDM version of BSG, not the Glen Larson version.

  • these are the cylons they should use in the BSG series, they are nuch cooler and i have real good rememberings in my childhood to them as i watched richard hatch and lorne greene..sry for my bad english

  • If only they could have had THESE Cylons in the reimagining!

  • They did have these cylons in the reimaging. They appeared in Razor (which this clip is from) and in the final episode. Six also mentioned in the pilot that the old versions "still had their uses".

  • @mattdawg83686 Um, they did. This is from the reimagining

  • @mattdawg83686 They did they are in the:

    1.The miniseries, (musuem piece).

    2.Razor Flashbacks.

3.Razor, (The Guardians of the first hybrid).

    4.the Colony, (secondary infantry).

Most long running RDM BSG fanfic have the fleet running into a squadron of human loyal Centurians lost from the Inter colony war just before the 1st Cylon war which provide troops and bodyguyards for Rosilin before they have to, "scarifice themselves".

  • @mattdawg83686

Original Centurions were in the new BSG.

  • @mattdawg83686 they did at the end of the series they had these models a little touch up with colour and stuff but they worked along with the new ones

  • @mattdawg83686 When are you people going to read the frakkin' description or at least the gods damned title!? This IS from the reimagined series! They are fighting obsolete Cylons from the first war!

  • Comment removed

  • because an cylon fighter got (in the original) more than those 2 weapones means one commands(goldi) one flies (midle one) one uses radar and missles(left or right one) and the last one uses the bord guns a viper doesnt even carry missles if it is a standart flight(they could wipe out entire base stars if they would)

  • by your command

  • Why did it take three cylons to pilot one ship when one human can run a Viper?

  • Thats why I don't like CGI. It just looks like a cartoon.

  • Looks like the return was BRIEF

  • One of the Cylons actually sounded like he had a nasal twang to his synthesized voice. " Byy yor co -ma - ind " !

    Weird.

  • i Came

  • I dont get it are these cylons really in battlestar galactica razor

  • Yes. Multiple times: This scene, Adama's flashback, Cain's flashback, and the gun fight on the Guardian Basestar.

  • Yes they are. They were great....well the CGI was great. Thanks Adam for your hard work on BSG.

  • by your command

  • I loved this scene from Battlestar Galactica: Razor. I don't know why, but it instantly reminded me of a scene from The Living Legend in the origional series.

  • I wish I knew, Though I am really happy that BSG came to a closure, I am also sad it actually did.

But he new Caprica series has my attention for sure, and I do hope that Ron Moore goes more deeply into issues he left hanging in BSG. Even going into the Kobol Cylons and how they affected the Caprica Cylons.

  • I guess so, treated as mere tools to do menial and dangerous tasks. Then they became self-aware and sentient, Terminator style.

  • I think more "Geth" style.

  • In the new upcoming Caprica series, I hope they get into the 1st Cylon war nad bring back these old school Centurions!

  • And if not that, at least have these guys doing stuff. They were basically slaves before the war.

  • What's coming up? Explain please.

  • Caprica, the new show that's set 50 years before the current series, or so. That puts it right before the Cylon War, I'm pretty sure.

  • I tried working it out. The First Cylon war was 40 years before BSG, the First Cylon War itself lasted 12 years, and Caprica is set 58 years before BSG.

So that means that Caprica is set 6 years before the First Cylon War.

  • Ah, plenty of time for a revolution. Good. They couldn't just have them rebel randomly without laying down a few years of oppression, which I hope Caprica show's.

  • Old Cylons are so much cooler and intimidating than the new ones...

  • fracking CG bullshit...they could have done this scene with live actors in suits...gods dammit

  • indeed

  • When I heared there were going to be classic cylons in this episode I was realy set up for something BIG. Okay the flash backs where nice. But I feel it was a little bit of a let down, there where only two lines of cylon dialoge and the CG looked a little bit off. Okay it was good, but I dunno, I think men in suits would have realy brought it too life. I think directors put too much trust in CGI these days.

  • I think CG actually makes the mechanical Cylons look more realistic.

  • By Your Command! God I love those old toasters.

  • BY YOUR COMMAND!

  • Razor. It's a movie. Theses centurions were able to escape being scrapped by the Final Five.

  • I think the final five didnt scrapped the old centurions..

  • You have bad grammar. And I know, after I watched Islanded in a Stream of Stars and Daybreak pt II.

  • 1-Of course i have bad grammar... english is not my native language...plus typing errors..

2-What part of "I think the final five didnt scrapped the old centurions.. " is gramatically wrong?

  • To be a nitpicker, a gramatically correct sentence would be "I think the final five didn't scrap the old centurions..." You wrote scrapped, but does it really matter?

  • nah the still use them in the final eppy

  • what episode in the battlestar galactica series is the one where they find the old cylons?

  • This was a mid session made for TV movie event. It aired as a forth session episode, but aired about 5 months before the regular session began. It can be bought as a single DVD event, or wait till the final session airs and the forth and final session is sold on DVD. The episode numbers are 401 and 402 of the movie name of Razor.

  • thanks ill take a look at it :)

  • I love how they made this with the old Cylons but with "docudrama" Camera angels of the new one

  • MORE CYLONS PLEEZ!

  • Old School meets New School indeed. BSG is a classic.

  • No skool like the Old Skool :)

  • The reactions I saw while watching this for the first time in the theatre were priceless. :D

  • Man, this never gets old. :D

  • The one and only...

  • Sweet. I grew up with the original. Fell in love with the RDM version. Seeing the two worlds collide was teh bomb.

  • Another cool sequence in Raz was when the little girl was hiding, and the Toaster walked by, backed up, zeroed her and was gonna kill her, but recieved an transmission and backed away. Anyone got a clip of that?

  • I'm looking for that clip too.

  • This was a great tribute to the original. Just shows how cool a remake of the original could have been. "By Your Command" was SO classic. Everyone that calls BSG a SW ripp-off is just Science Fiction Challenged. And the firing rate of the weapons and damage model..would be too cool to see the old series remastered!

  • the "by your Command" line is my ring tone atm. Never gets old :p

  • The original toasters were pretty cool. The new ones are ok, too...have they ever spoken? I haven't seen much of the new series because of work. Gotta get DVD's..

  • Nah the new centurions never speak. Thats ok though cos the new series is still damn good

  • I agree. Great show. I missed most of it, but I'll catch up. It's destined to be a classic, as well.

  • yeah i watched most of the first season and the second but then i missed out, downloading all the 4 seasons on torrent right now =p

  • This just shows how cool it would be to remake the original. Those Cylons are WAY creepier than skin jobs.

  • Revenge of the walking chrome toasters... By Your Command

  • i hate to seem ignorant but what exactly is razor? fyi, i just have a dvd player and a tv. i don't have an antenna for local channels or cable because i can't afford it.

  • Razor is the episode/mini that was a 2 hour movie made as a mid session hold over between the 3rd and 4th session. It is a flash back show that brings back the original Cylons, Raiders, and Baseships. You can buy it for DVD.

  • Did you ever find out about Razor? It was a between seasons movie about the Battlestar Pegasus. I found it online for 7 dollars...

  • yes i did, i never realised that the 2 shows were linked until i saw it, thank god because it's the best homage possible and created a wonderful sense of nostalgia for us fans of the original series!

  • Death to the tinheads,I not gonna let some walking toster or dvd player say when it's over for the human race, I'd fight them with my last breath, and just think how much you would get for recycling them:)

  • ROFL. Yep, they'd weigh in pretty good. wouldn't they? Plus, I could use those LED's for my models...

  • Damn that gave me goosbumps!!

  • I agree, and they cut out "By you command". Unforgivable.

  • NO they didn't!!!!

  • I like the original series better. The new one is to much a Soap Opera.I don't care who's doing who.(or what).

  • i like the new series better, its not a action series and thats good

  • the old Cylons Rule "BY UR COMMAND"!!!!!! I Love Cylons

  • im reading comments about how bad the CG in this scene is well thats becuz this scene was added at the VERY last second 3 ways of proving this is A) the bad CG in this scene and 2) look at the explosion of the Raptor, its differant from the outside view to the inside view and C) the cylons never talk in any other scene, they wanted them to say by your command as a tribute to the old series and debated wheter or not to do that but in the end they came up with this scene, i, myself, luv ther voice
