I was just filling out an online form that requested I answer the question: "who was your favorite teacher?". I couldn't remember if Mr. Weckel was spelled with or without a c.....so I did a google search and I'm so glad I did because I got to see this great Memorial video of him. He was my home room teacher and my history teacher back in the day and boy do I miss him. I loved his stories and the motivation he instilled in all of us students. We could tell he genuinely cared.
What a wonderful and very special tribute to Mr. Weckel - it is beautiful. It is also really wonderful to see so many names and faces I remember from Chenango Valley.
Bill Weckel was a wonderful human being, teacher, family man, soldier, friend. I was fortunate enough to have him as my teacher in 1974-75 at CVHS for my Government class. When I was planning our 30th Class Reunion in 2005, I invited him to come. I had him pick the names for the door prizes, he sang a song, read a prayer, entertained us all. God wanted him and now he is an angel. Just as he always was to us in life--an angel. We miss you very much, Mr. Weckel. Love Always, Rick Hatch
We were so fortunate that our son and daughter had such a wonderful teacher. We all will never forget him. We wish there were more such teachers for our grandsons.
