  • Both violins play the same notes. They are wired together at the contact assembly. If played through the midi system they still play the same notes. Though the violins are capable of playing all four strings at any one time, this gives you the illusion of more than one instrument.

  • Astounding and BEAUTIFUL. The fellow who devised this mechanical wonder must have been a double genius! Thank you for this video.

  • as far as I know, the midi attachment is non invasive

and does nothing to detract or damage the original machine

being that the violano is electrically run on solenoids...

  • I always wondered how do you hook up a midi to a unit that plays paper rolls is there a adapter that covers the tracker bar or do you cut in to the air lines with check valves so the player can still work? dos this hurt the value of the instrument?

The best thing with these are that it is not a recording of music but is real music being played LOL

  • LOL 3 instruments for the price of a house

  • Lovely!

  • I always understood that both violins in a "double Mills" doubled the same part, rather than playing separately; Is that not the case?

  • Oh,my lord!!!! That was such a beautiful rendition. I heard this for the first time yesterday on Roberts Musical Restorations and it is such a beautiful instrument, I couldn't believe it!!! I sure would love to own one.
