  • The statements are all copied and pasted ...

  • Thanks for uploading it:)

  • I threw a javelin once and the end of it hit my head, I was OK though it has been 8 or so years since I have thrown one... Considering it next week at athletics... So here I am... ^_^

  • spear chuckers

  • thx this helps a lot :)

  • got to do do this for sports week i just hope i dont throw it in my foot =/

  • thanks guys, i have won the state championship , after watching this stuff

  • Btw let me know when you make world standard I'll want an autograph:)

  • @F13RCE1 you would turn this into an American vs Canadian thing, whatever works for you dude I'm not expecting you to change your technique, but considering one of the coaches was at the olympics himself he might know what he's talking about. Between the 2 of them they've sent multiple throwers to world competitions and one to the olympics. Not bad for a country a tenth of the size of the states. Thanks for making an argument about it (y)

  • who wants to know this

  • @TheHornswoggle

someone who has alot of potential but no technique (me 16 years old)

i threw javelin at track this year and threw 38 meters, now im going to provincials... i wanna throw a 45 by next year, i know i can cause i threw 42 but it didn't pierce the ground.

  • @F13RCE1 two Canadian national level coaches disagree

  • @rocketjav11 you're canadian. your whole country could disagree and no one would give a shit. and i know the mechanics of javelin perfectly, i'm a D1 prospect and study it everyday so i can follow through on my goal of being an olympic thrower. right handed throwers land on right foot pull through with left, push off the right foot to throw power through the hips, which creates the torque and the throw. You can wrap for more power, but the base of your pwer is torquing your hips through.

  • @rocketjav11 hips can't move alone. you drawyour power from the ground with your feet. in this case your right(back) foot. i highly doubt you're canadian national level coaches if you disagree. and if you are? i'm sorry for the javelin throwers in your country. They need better coaches.

  • Hi, i'm doing Javelin in class, I have watched your video many times but I keep doing it wrong. Somehow it keeps hitting my teacher in the face. I asked my friend how he gets it so far and he said "I just picture my maths teacher where I want it to go".

  • @CheyTac2 it's most likely because you just started throwing again and the muscles in your hand aren't conditioned to it yet. Either that or throwing in the cold can do it too. Nothin to worry about either way

  • Don't push off with your back leg. You just wanna pivot on it.

  • @rocketjav11 you push off it to snap your hips and whip your arm and hand over the top. A strong push off the back leg results in a strong throw.

  • you might be throwing like a baseball

  • I have my first decathlon coming up, and since high school in VA doesnt sanction Jav, I started practicing after track practice today. My hand hurt pretty bad afterwards. I started with a grip (like used on a pv pole), then switched to the split finger grip, (it flew straighter). And idea why my hand hurts?

  • I got a javelin competition tmmr.I hope this might help me win.

  • So im guessing this is only for right handed thrower, cause im a left handed thrower and found your vid here. lol

  • while u pull is backwards and throw it infront can it hit the head??

  • @satchi123 not it you follow throw properly

  • @satchi123 go try, then tell us the results xD

  • @ONceupONatiME13579 i tried today finished third..but my teknik was bad..i did 33m...lol

  • this is too good!!!

    thanks!!

  • cool, now i can hunt shit.

  • 1:43 :-))

  • awsome! now i can do my throwing propery :)

  • i never through a javelin in my life....but my coach put me in it for nationals qualifier to go to the junior olympics...and i got first place...my first time even seeing how a javelin looks like

  • thanks u helped so much with my essay:)

  • So whats an average throw for boys high school? I started jav 2 weeks ago and i just had my first meet throw yesterday and threw 105.2 ft. Dunno if thats good or not :/

  • @hunter25797 thats pretty good. my friend throws varsity and his PR is 170. it pisses me off.

  • I really appreciate the video thanks alot!! =)

  • love it ,

  • i throw javelin ! Its graet !!

  • Javelin is so much more complicated than this...I've been throwing this damn stick fa three years, it only gets more and more complicated. An inch of wrong movement in your shoulders is the different of 5 feet....

    Good for basics though...

  • @okkaoboy indeed, this is what you learn 11 year olds who just start throwing javelins,,,

  • thanks!

  • when you say "run straight with ur hips perpendicular to the line" do u not mean parallel to the line?

  • I think he means the line you are running along, which means they would be perpendicular. Of course if you're in a competition then yes it's parallel with the limit line

  • Thank you for the video :]

  • THANK U!

  • so helpful have decided to take javalin instead of discus and shotput for y8

  • good for you I loved throwing javelin

  • What the name of song?

  • "I'll make you mine" is the name of the song

  • Thanks Hobby

    I trow a pebble 130 meters!!

You make a competition with me?

  • some people r realy silly in my sports day people were holding it with there arms bent and the javiline level with there head. at my school im in year 10 so its not a little one. and i came 2nd out of like 25 people

  • Congratulations!!! There are several ways to throw it, it's not a strict set way but the one that most throwers use is in this vid

  • yer i do it the way in the vid but the kids who did it the way i said got 3 no throws

  • Is the first picture of the grip upside down?

  • It's like an overhead pic like if while you held it at your side they took a pic

  • Thanks alot dude, Im in an athletics competition tomorrow and i dint have a fucking clue what to do lol,, but you've told me everything i need to know,, thanks again (:

  • Your welcome and I hope you did well I learned from Tom Patrenoff you should watch his vids

  • Before you throw it you are letting the tail stay too low you have to let the javelin and arm be straight

  • i dunno wat im doin but it so isnt workin..maybe im not followin through properly nd thats why it always lands tail first ...

  • thanks, this is really good

  • thank you=)
