  • You gotta admit though, it's pretty funny watching it get all beat to hell! LMAO!!

  • Goddamn! That poor thing sure bit the dust! LOL

  • Bet it took a couple days to repair that overhead wire damage. Looks like that caused the Pan damage @0:04

  • it looked like the damage of the pantograph started when the pole was in front of the overhead wire

  • How does the pantograph damage even start?

  • Cost?

  • XD Fail!!! :-D

    Very cool!!!

  • Wow, that really fucks things up pretty quickly, doesn't it?

  • I think something bad happened at 0:21

  • enunyanyahyaku , via an online translator mentioned that a single arm (I'm presuming the pantograph armature), on a train broke from hitting an icicle, and the company that fixed it did the repair without any trouble, after the relief... ( not sure what relief is referring to, though ).

Hope that clears up what that person typed. =^.^=

  • @alectricfoxx thanks,that makes more sense now. :)

  • EH200もツララでシングルアームを折ったことあったな。

    高崎のDD51が救援へ向かって事なきを得たけど・・・

  • @enunyanyahyaku the fuck you just said?

    ENGLISH,MOTHERFUCKER,DO YOU SPEAK IT?

  • @Antimanele104 I don't think the guy f****d his mother. Why did he upset you?

  • @enunyanyahyaku Thanks for your comment : )

  • poor pantograph

  • pordios! Es... IMPRESIONANTE _sin palabras_

  • What a good spot on camera for this cause damage headline of train!!!

  • The train needs upgraded & replace old ones out with new one for hi technology as usual. Before ride by trains, need the test cable connection for safety. Then let resume as normal operating, what purpose to know how they did you see that destroy headline train. Should be getting the vision with that train for safety checks the trains, before operating by train. How lucky, some people who got a suddenly shock they feeling or is possible kills somebody else!

  • @ANDREWWALLFORD123 you have an english sounding name and live in england so how come you can't speak english? Nothing you said there made a word of sense. i'm sure theres a logical explanation of some kind in your message but only you can read it. Seriously, go do some english classes, you'll feel better about yourself for it and we'll all appreciate it too.

  • @BogusDudeGW The train needs upgraded & replace old ones link-headline out with new one for hi technology as usual. Before ride by trains, need the test cable connection for safety. Then let resume as normal operating, what purpose to know how they did you see that destroy headline train. Should be safety checks the trains, before operating by train. How lucky, some people who got a suddenly shock they feeling oris possible kills somebody else! That’s clear or not?

  • @ANDREWWALLFORD123 your spelling is fine its your choice of words and sentence structuring looks like a foreigner speaking english, which is fine if your foreign, ie The train needs upgrading & the old link-headlines need replacing with new hi-tech ones. Then normal operating will resume, next bit didn't make sense. They should do safety checks on the trains before operating them.....like i say if your foreign fair game, your half way there keep at it

  • @BogusDudeGW Oh no, That's okay. I just leave you alone to it. Nice vision on Pantograph Damage caught to vid!

  • @BogusDudeGW Oh no, That's okay, no worries. I just leave you alone to it. Nice vision on Pantograph Damage caught to vid!

  • @ANDREWWALLFORD123 Im confused :P

  • @MilwaukeeSDman Oh, don’t worry about it. Look is really bad isn't. Should let held the train first service for safety checks headline, before operating. That terrible vision for that happens isn’t!

  • This was NOT a controlled test. It was a regular overhead wire inspection train (German DB, south-east of Munich, Station of Assling) - the crash came totally unexpected.

The destroyed pantograph was mounted on the measuring car, so the train driver didn't realise the crash at first, because the loco's pantograph was unharmed.

  • bullet train who is made in china! thumps uf if you agreed!

  • @gamekiiid - ENOUGH with the "Chinese S#!T" meme, already. Chinese manufacturers can make really good quality stuff - if you're willing to pay them for it. They can also make cheap, shoddy stuff as well, if that's what you ask them to make.

  • 0:22 - the wires seem fokin scary ! lol

  • Diesel FTW!

  • hmmm....

Well it seems your train absolutely FUCKED our high tension wires

  • This was done a part of a test to show the benefits of having an auto-drop device, whereby when the pan is struck or damaged, it will lower its self immediately thus preventing the massive damage you see here.

  • @soundseeker63 Er...nope. Not at all! More facts than fiction would be nice...

  • It looks like the antenna of the phone booth from Bill and Ted's excellent adventure

  • That railway's overhead lines are poorly maintained...

  • Mega;)

  • wow thts something..it just exploaded

  • Appears to me that at 0:04 there is a broken insulator that allows the steady arm to drop resulting in a busy afternoon for M.O.W.

  • When I was up on the top of a line car I got to see the trolley wire holders and this really looked to like the pan unit got on to a line set up for trolley only. One of the line crew told me that all they needed to do to make the line pan/trolley compatible was to install spacers and also a few things to do to the frogs to make them safe for pan. One funny thing they assured me that I could touch the 600 V line but it was still scary to me.

  • Holy shit, anyone see the guy on top of the train at the end at 0:47? I would NOT want to be that close to the wires. Dude's got cojones for real...

  • 0:19 = Fucking mayhem.... AWESOME!

  • I think there may be a problem...

  • I think it was a demonstration. Look at the other video from billythewolf. Here, there is no system, which gets down the panto after an object on the wire. There is plenty of damage both on the panto and the wire. On the other video, there is only minor damage, because the panto goes down at once.

  • Where is it?

  • For those who are asking questions, I shall explain:

It is likely that this locomotive was newly built at the time this was recorded and, as per safety regulations, they did tests to see how much damage the pantographs can tolerate. They put some "foreign objects" (things that would cause damage to pantographs) on the cable at a test track somewhere, and ran the loco on said track. As you can see, the pantograph did not tolerate the damage, and the wire was badly damaged as well.

  • @HSTCalvin You may only "explain" things you've at least partly an idea of. Repeating the same bullshit again and again doesn't make it true. At first this is not a loco but a monitoring car checking power line's status during the ride, and of course the incident doesn't take place on a test track or something. This is scheduled mission on a regular line. The pantograph accidentally collapses due to a broken raker smacking in at ~ 0:04.

  • At 0:03 you can see clearly that the pantograph is hitting the traction element (bracket or something like that) and therefore breaks down. What does not change the fact that ... who the hell shoots pantograph;)

  • I think this happens often enough for them to put cameras up so they can see what goes wrong.

  • I really hope this was a test.

  • @tnakai1971jp no, it wasn't

    it was in germany ;)

  • @1549763

I cannot believe it. The Germans are the best people for this kind of thing. What happened?

  • @tnakai1971jp

    It´s a test.

Therefore the camera is filming the pantograph.

Otherwise there wouldn´t be a camera at this place, right?

It´s a controlled crash-test to analyze, what can happen, if a foreign object is hitting the pantograph.

  • @megatwingo

I see. May be we should conduct similar tests in Japan, too.

  • @tnakai1971jp

I bet, those kind of tests are done with pantographs around the world.

  • @megatwingo

I don't think we conduct such tests in Japan. Japan is not particularly famous for destructive tests of this kind.

  • @tnakai1971jp

Every technical developed country does crash tests with nearly everything technical in our times.

Cars, railways, aircraft: everything is crash tested.

  • @megatwingo

What I mean is, Japan is not famous for conducting tests on operational lines. Many destructive tests are conducted in indoor facilities, including those involving traction ans suspension systems.

For high speed suspension stability tests, for example, they have a stretch of track-like conveyor which is like a tread mill for a railway carriage. Japan is a small country and the space is scare, but not that scarce. In northern parts of Japan, there are many, many vast unused plots.

  • @tnakai1971jp

    Ah, I understand.

  • this vid was taken between munich and rosenheim in germany

  • japan じゃありえない

  • Looks just like something on the East Coast

  • don't fly a kite there.

  • did anyony get heart

  • @0866trainsEWS Use a dictionary. Heart or hurt?

  • @photograph1 Hurt i mean sorry

  • This is really funny destruction! :-D

  • now that it tore up the whole catenary system

  • Arent they supposed to drop in such sitautions to prevent the massive damage the occured after the first minor incident? ie ADD in the UK.

  • @SANSPAREIL1977 Yes, modern pantographs lower themselves when they get damaged. The pantograph in this video is from the early 1990s and does not have such safety features.

  • Comment removed

  • Hmm I wonder whats safer... catenary AC or third rail DC

  • That thing is WRECKED!!! even the wires were cut

  • wow! that should be a bit expensive experiment...

  • pantograph pwned

  • lol. stupid pantograph.

  • Whitch country did this video make in?

  • Toda la catenaria a tomar por...

  • Vidéo très dure à supporter ! :'(

  • There should be some kind of automatic retraction built into pantograph.

so that if there is significant shock detected, the pantograph lowers itself

    to minimize damage or something.

  • das war nur ein test

  • ADD fail.

  • oops sumthing was wrong

that was wire-supporting rod, whose one end detached from main wire-supporting pole, and the other end was still at wire (0:04) so this is not because pantograph - its because of damaged contact net

  • @serresjio Yes, Initial damage to the pantograph at 0:04 then it stated doing damage..

  • Что это было? Испытания?

  • Jai Hind am Arsch xD

  • Thank u for supporting India by writing Jai Hind....and what do u mean By I AM ARSCH >>>

  • Die Oberleitung wirds Danken :D

  • first of all....

electrification wire and pantograph is of poor quality....

did u see the wires above...

    is this European train!

    hahah

  • Yeahhand the Indians are much better?

You dont have electricity in your Coeuntry xD

People are driving on the roof of trains in India . . . . . ROFL . .:D

  • Before replying learn ENGLISH, You have mistakes!!! Hahaha

We have electricity in our country! hahha

People don't drive train from the roof, they actually sit on the roof.... hahah

Did you ever see th pantograph of Indian trains.... hahaha

    Incredible India

    Jai Hind!

  • You americans cant even manage 150mph so dont slag europeans. even ireland has faster trains that america

  • @man13preet

There is a camera filming the pantograph.

    This is a controlled crash-test.

With a little brain work you could have guessed it yourself.

  • electric

  • hi this eletric train DB 103 i think

  • hitlers train????

  • Was this line closed at any time?

  • Arregaçou a rede aérea, hein!

  • im no Pantograph expert, put that looks fooked to me,

  • lets do fireworks!

  • 120 km/h speed measurement seems to be wrong. Looks more like 25-40 km/h

  • Is it normal for trains to have cameras pointed at their pantographs like this? It seems this was a simulated accident. I mean, who films pantographs?

  • @linghun: This was a catenary measurement train

  • cameraman indeed! hahaha

    Jai Hind!

  • @linghun

The pantograph is filmed during the line test.

It is a deutch pantograph (from scunk), but french technology is better

  • @benouse7 i assume that you are french but know nothing of the technology involved in pantographs. It is very hard to create a pantograph that doesn't work correctly every pantograph uses the same basic design. This Schunk (i assume what you meant) is the same design used on the ICE train in Germany one of the most advanced trains in the world. The pantograph is a very unique design and works just as well as the French standard which as I might add was REPLACED on our Amtrak AEM7s.

  • @linghun this was an catenary inspection and measuring waggon

  • @linghun It's so that the driver can see what his pantograph is doing. For example in this case, the driver probably wouldn't have know his pantograph had broken until he got off the train when it had stopped due to a loss of power.

  • @linghun For test runs they do, but by the way the wires are shaking, I can conclude it's simulated.

  • @linghun They place cameras there so that way they can find out what caused the accident. It's basically like having a security camera in a store. Just to see if anything goes wrong. If anybody was up there filming they would've been electrocuted. Although I would've guessed that too.

  • @linghun

Some railroads that operate electric equipment may have cars or locomotives with cameras on the roof to observe wire or pantograph conditions during inspections, or sometimes randomly recording data as it is in normal service.

  • @linghun No I thing that was a Testtrain

  • @linghun: I think this happens often enough for them to put cameras up so they can see what goes wrong.

  • @linghun Engineering often films the OCS side-to-side tracking to ensure even wear on pantograph carbon strips.

  • @linghun LOL!! Nice! You got a point dude!!

  • @linghun i think all electric trains have a camera pointing at the pantograph so they can moniter it for damage.

  • @linghun - Track and overhead recording car. Essential item of maintenance plant for any serious electrified railway system.

  • jesus.. the whole catenary is down :D

  • Why was is being filmed in the first place? Was it a test?

  • that thing just got fukin destroyed

  • Amazing how the train is traveling at 70 MPH almost the whole time. Only once the pantograph goes up and starts tearing down the wire does the train finally lose power and start to slow down! By that time the damage has been done!

  • aztakurva

  • Lol, @ the end when he ripped the whole cable the train starts slowing down :P

  • he deestroy the catenary?

  • thats sad!!!

  • A Pantograph is damaged and the train loses power because of the Pantograph is damaged. A huge blow to the whole electrics inside the train. Fuck Me that was scary..

  • CARALHO !!! Que estrago !

  • Oops! A loose clamp at 0:03 broke down the pantograph's whiper.

  • Die fangen ja erst total spät an zu bremsen! Meine Fresse was da für Ströme fließen!

  • Oh my god!

    That's Terrible!

  • Looks like a test I think. It looks like the pantograph was intentionally damaged.

  • Pantograf is iron how can be damaged by wire

  • because of the electricity in the wires te are very tense making them much stronger, the pantograph althong made from iron its contruction is bouth though(for speed) and week(like in this case, not to damage the wires TO MUCH)

  • really HAHAHHA

european train uses poor quality of iron....

    isnt it europeans???

  • @man13preet

    you are idiot.

  • @limeniks2 you too,,,

  • @man13preet If India is so bloody great why don't you tell all the scroungers who come into this country to piss off back home.

  • sweet!!!

  • That's extremely dangerous, not just from the debris of the wrecked pantograph getting thrown about, but also from the catenary dangling after getting snatched off it's supports by the pan.

  • At 0:22 the pantograph short circuits to the vehicle body and the power is cut. I still wouldn't touch it though :)

  • somebody's getting fired

  • ow yeah i wanna see the look on his face wait..,.no cuz im gonna be driving a train in a few year what if that happens to me :S XD lmao

  • you :-X , how can be raildriver idiot, when this pantograf, or trolley-line was defect??? Raildriver can't induce that...

  • Comment removed

  • Wow epic freaking failure. Send this in to failblog!

  • thats what happens when you get your pantograph in a cerial box

  • To sieciowcy mieli roboty :)

  • fajny patyk :D

  • What a mess!

  • @dflashi:

drum fährt man ja IM zug mit...

    und man bekommt keinen ärger...

  • OH SH@%#

    How'd that happen :0

  • Oops... I've been broken...

  • Zog blah nia!

  • Whoops, that'll do!

  • joer, aver si haceis bien los postes de catenaria, k parecen gilipollas y despues se lleva el cable y todo lo k se menea...

  • "Um... okay that just broke."

    LOL

  • wonder how much to repair all that

  • how??why?

  • smash smash sparky smash sparky sparky rip lol oops

  • Where was this?

  • Aßling Bavaria Germany (Train is going to Munich) , the Catenary measurement train hit an hanging bracket this is old though I think it was recorded in 2001?

  • Germany, near Munich

  • Whoops!

  • What gets me is that this train is not equiped with a pantograph ADD (Automatic Dropping Device)???

  • WENA COÑACOOOOOOOO

  • explostion @ 0:22 !

  • OMFG that will cause desruption in the morning!

  • what the hell. good video

  • bloody hell

  • ez mekkora video!!! életemben nem láttam ilyet!! iszonyat! behalok !

  • That will be fun to fix...

  • does anyone know where or when this was?

  • according to the signaling on the line it must have been somewhere in Germany or Austria. I guess it was some kind of test anyway otherwise there would not be a video

    Christian :-)

    Düsseldorf Germany

  • glaubst das das hier war?

ja ok jetz hab ich mir die umgebung und die signale au ma angesehen, kann echt sein

  • In fact it was a german catenary measurement train. The accident happened near Rosenheim in Bavaria.

  • looks like they used the wrong kind of tram for the system way to go guys lol

  • You are right, this has been an accident in the station of Aßling (Oberbayern) when the train drove in the direction Rosenheim - München.

  • It's sad to see that :-(
