my birds hate me... I think.. Can anyone help me?? i got 2 budgies about a month ago and ive tries to get them to step on a ladder and on my finger but they wont. They just fly about the cage trying to avoid me. Also when im around them the older one bites the younger one like hard. How can i get them to like me like this???

help!

my parakeet (lemon) doesnt want anything to do with me. i have had her for about 2 years now. i have tried taming her and training her. i tried the "step-up" prosses and she bites me and flys away. ive tried the "step-up" prosses with a stick. when ever i step near the cage she steps back a few steps. and when feed her millet sray and slowley put my finger near her, she just backs off.

Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. i do have another bird in the cage as well, a female like lemon.

It's a poster behind the cage, to protect the wall from their poo. It's the "Birds of shore and sea" poster, turned on a side.

how did you first get them to come to you?

i have been trying so hard to tame my budgie, and he's alright but he has unclipped wings, and he doesn't eat anything out of my hand, he doesn't even touch the millet i hang in his cage

have you got any tips??

I would start by clipping it's wings. If you don't know how, have a vet do it the first time and have him show you so you can do it at home. After that, lots of patience. Short intervals of handling throughout the day. Place him in the living room, or somewhere in the house where people frequent and not a bedroom. Before long, you should have a tame budgie!

NEVER clip a budgie's wings without medical reason! The clipping doesn't tame the bird!

You must spend a lot of time with your budgie and then let it know your hand, etc...

well first clip his wings then put its cage in the living room cuz they like loud noises of the t.v. and stuff

NEVER EVER keep ur budgie in the kitchen

bring your budgie out of the cage each day and scratch the top of its head lightly for they very much enjoy that, if not then rub their stomach also very lightly talk to ur budgie a little bit and say hello to him or her alot

if ur budgie ever bites u then just be still and w8 till it stops and then itll understand u dont wanna hurt it

Iceberg lettuce has next to no nutritional value. Romaine and other types are ok. Dark greens have the most nutrients.

I dont think the cage is too small, they all look really happy and bet they get tons of freedpom too, all animals like their own species and theres plenty of room there for them to sit away from each other if they want to....BTW I have 3 budgies as well.
