You know anyone I have ever seen play anything By SRV gets these stupid comments about how they are not stevie or they are a stevie wanna be etc. The guy is playing his version and making it his own. Perfectly legitimate in the Blues world. SRV did it too. This is a some great guitar work in its own right period.
Amen, brother! Music is not static. People will keep reinterpreting and putting their $.02 on it and more SRVs and Kings and Claptons and Van Halens and Malsteen's and Chet Atkins and Wes Montgomerys will emerge with a new sound.
To Yearst: Thanks brother. Someone who finally gets it. All these critics who call themselves Blues Guys. Blues is all about innovation and progression. Occasionally someone comes up with something Totally new and original but that's the fuel for new innovation. If you eliminated all The remakes and covers including SRV's there would be very little Blues to listen to... :-)
To BluuesWarrior: I just gave you a positive rating on that comment because I don't know what a**hole gave you the negative one. Your absolutely right. There will never be another SRV but this guy is (quoting ray20512) "very pleasing to the ear." I don't know why there are all those people that post those dumb comments about videos like this one where there is a guy who is pretty talented in his own right putting his own spin on a great song.
It has been said time and time again, you can sound like SRV but for only about 3 seconds and then you lost it. This guy is good but not close to SRV. Nice try though
My word, that was one of the very few decent solos I've seen on here, really great chops. Usually it's idiots doing the same old scales at stupid speed through an horrific sounding pile of wank solid state metal amp
Great playing. Only criticism is that you played it in a different key but maybe that was planned.

custom24: can you imagine SRV telling someone that they have to play it like Buddy Guy, or Albert King?
No, it's about learning the music and style and taking it your own direction.

love the metal version.
nice strat too

Good rendition of the solo but you're playing the main riff all wrong. There are no chords in the main riff, it's just notes that he picks...

Maybe u need a backtrack works with u~By the way, thanks for sharing this vedio.

You shouldn't play SRV on the bridge pickup, put it on the neck or out of phase between neck and middle. Otherwise, very nicely done.

You don't need to tune like him. And his tone isn't great on chords, but his soloing is UNBELIEVABLE and it is so smooth and silky.
