  • why did you stop using maya, and moved over to 3Ds MAX? :(

  • @tarrizzzzzzzzz I didn't completely move to max... truth is.. I moved from 3ds max to maya.. and then I returned to 3ds max. I used both for over 5 years each for highend production works. In my opinion, max kicks maya's ass really hard. But I still use both for my client works. Because I know both :)

  • @sampad01 now i sorta wish i knew max :/

how exactly is it better? :p

  • @tarrizzzzzzzzz Its better in sense of learning curve and user friendlyness. The same thing u do in maya, can be done in max.. only with less brain work and labor. That is how it seems more "smart" to me.... well as I said.. I learned both... so its not a big deal to learn 2 softwares if u learn one, u can learn the other one even easier. But depends if u really need it or not. I had to learn both because of some project demands. Otherwise I would have sticked to one. And thats the right choice.

  • @sampad01 i spose :/ have never figured out how to do render passes in maya, though :S

even though, according to videos i've seen on youtube and so forth, it looks really simple in max xD

  • @tarrizzzzzzzzz Well I must mention that only the older versions of both max and maya were reliable. All the versions after max 2009 is full of unnecessary crap in my opinion and has a loooot of bugs. The videos they show you on youtube about their new versions' robustness and reliability etc. Those are all lies, trust me :)

I use maya 8.5 and max 2009 both 64 bit. I am never going to upgrade. Because I got all I need in those two.

  • @sampad01 actually kinda glad to hear :D I personally have Maya 2008 64-bit ^^

there is so much to learn though, like hair (fur, i suppose), and motion tracking (well actually that should fine in syntheyes, but even when i work with 1080p from DSLRs i can't seem to get it right. not that that has anything to do with maya), and cloth :/ not to mention texturing complex geometry xD

  • Hei sampad... can you give me your email id pls... ive got to clarify somethings from you...

    take care
