@Ewok5627 Research EchoLink on google. It allows VOiP for amateur radio. Basically, even without a radio, someone with a ham license can connect to echolink equipped repeaters and communicate pretty much globally. The software is amazing and FREE!!! I just got my license a few weeks ago, and have communicated with other hams on echolink about what equipment to purchase. It has been great! If you have your license, download it. If you don't have a license, get one, then download echolink.
what is the use for echolink in ham radio communications?

i know it's a year later, but sysop is the mode you put echolink in when you connect it to radio equipment. more or less think of it as "radio" mode.
